After Kyani-Gillani talks Prez asked to stay put in DubaiAgencies Sources said that the two leaders discussed the long march of Nawaz Sharif and attempts being made to counter it. “During the meeting both Gillani and Kayani expressed their displeasure over the working of Zardari,” they said.
After the meeting, there were media reports that Zardari was asked to stay in Iran and not return to Pakistan. A spokesperson for President Asif Ali Zardari, who is visiting Tehran, rejected reports that the Army had asked him not to return to the country. “There is no change in the President’s scheduled return to Islamabad. The reports of his staying on in Dubai and postponing his return are absolutely false, mischievous and seem deliberately designed to cause confusion,” the spokesperson said. Gilani has better ties with the Pakistan Army than Zardari. He is seen more acceptable to army than Zardari. The development, according to sources, follows the Pakistan Army chief, General Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani, asking President Zardari to resolve persistent political crises within days. An alliance of opposition parties, headed by two-time former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and the influential legal community, plans to start a protest rally, dubbed a Long March, from the southern port city of Karachi Thursday and reach Islamabad four days later. It plans to hold a sit-in in the capital until its demand for the restoration of the judiciary under independent-minded former Supreme Court chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry is met. Zardari is resisting to restore sacked chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary as he fears that the reinstated judges could limit his powers and revive corruption cases against him. On Wednesday, Nawaz dared the Zardari government in a rally addressed in Abbottabad saying that the latter has been responsible for all the on-going trouble in Pakistan. He said: “The turnout shows our strength. Zardari is responsible for all the trouble for Pakistan. When Pakistan’s future looks dark, then how can I stay back at my house,” he added. “How can I stay back when the judicial system is not in place. The state apparatus is not working and the challenges on our borders are too many? We were very happy with Musharraf’s exit, but nothing has changed since then. I had high hopes when I signed the CoD with Benazir Bhutto.” Why is the opposition up in arms? Former prime minister and opposition leader Nawaz Sharif, who heads the country’s second-biggest party, is furious with Zardari after the Supreme Court last month effectively barred Sharif and his politician brother, Shahbaz, from contesting elections. Shahbaz Sharif’s victory in a by-election last year was nullified, and he was disqualified from holding the office as chief minister of Punjab, the most populous and most influential of Pakistan’s four provinces. Zardari then imposed central rule, known as governor’s rule, in Punjab for two months, and threw out the provincial government of the Sharifs’ Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) (PML-N). The Sharifs have accused Zardari of being behind the court decision and their supporters have taken to the streets. Both Sharif and Zardari covet Punjab — politicians say whoever controls the province that returns more than half the members of the National Assembly controls the country — but neither has a clear majority in the provincial assembly. What’s at stake? Pakistan’s latest attempt at democracy is at risk. Musharraf’s successor as army chief, General Ashfaq Kayani, has vowed to keep the army out of politics. But, the danger is that if the crisis becomes acute, the military, which has ruled for more than half the country’s 61 years of history, will feel forced to act. The army has little reason to back Sharif even if Zardari is widely unpopular and disliked by hawkish elements who distrust his pro-West stance and dovishness towards India. Sharif had bad relations with at least three army chiefs during the 1990s. Moreover, the West is wary of Sharif, believing that he panders to the religious/nationalist constituency that opposes the war on terrorism. |

W.A.M. Alert in opposition to Card Check
W.A.M. Alert in opposition to Card Check

The next step in the “Change” Administration’s attempt to strangle our rights and our economy is an issue we cannot afford to lose. If you have participated in prior W.A.M. ACTIONS – or ever considered doing so, this is the most critical moment and most important Obama move to oppose! The mislabeled “Employee Free Choice Act” has been slammed into Congress – before the ink is even dry on the insane OMNIBUS Spending Spree. More aptly called “Card Check” – this measure allows an International Union , backed by Obama “community organizers” to infiltrate American businesses – large and small – using the same aggressive intimidation tactics by which they have brought down the banking and lending industries. Smartly marketed and deceptively portrayed by the well-funded Service Employees International Union, this employment Act is tied directly to Obama’s take-over of Health Care (with higher not lower costs for US all.) Their ambitions, unfortunately, don’t stop there. SEIU bemoans the fact that less than 6% of American businesses are “unionized.” Their agenda – via “Card Check” – is to pervade all levels and forms of U.S. industry with their own “international” standards and extreme government controls. imagine the impact of this Card Check Law on our already faltering economy!!! |

Hungary and Russia Signed Pipeline Deal
Hungary and Russia Signed Pipeline Deal
|
Hungarian energy company MOL and Russia’s energy giant Gazprom signed an agreement in Moscow on Tuesday to build the Hungarian section of the South Stream gas pipeline. The project that involves construction of a Hungarian section for the South Stream pipeline is designed to carry 31 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year to the European countries through the Balkans. According to RIA Novosti; Hungary, Bulgaria, Serbia, Italy and Greece are involved in the deal. Notably agreement is to bypass Ukraine, which has been the main transit state for Russian gas. The first deliveries are expected to transfer in 2013.
Putin said a separate deal to build a large underground natural gas storage facility in Hungary was also in the works. While Putin said Hungarian energy company MOL is Gazprom’s partner in that project, Medvedev stressed that bilateral trade rose by almost two-thirds last year, and described the agreement on the South Stream project as an essential step forward. On the other hand Hungarian Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany added that ‘Hungary is interested in there being as many pipelines as possible’.Hungary was one of several EU states that deprived of Russian gas in January during Russia’s dispute with Ukraine. Moreover Hungary is more than 90 % dependent on Russian gas for its energy needs. by Simge Soyer, JTW |

Taliban operate freely from Quetta: US
Taliban operate freely from Quetta: US
By Anwar Iqbal

WASHINGTON: The central nervous system for the next major terrorist attack on the US soil lies in Pakistan, say senior US officials and lawmakers.
Pakistan came under immense pressure at a US Senate hearing this week, as both officials and senators accused Islamabad of allowing terrorists to use its soil for planning attacks on the United States.
Two key US officials – director national intelligence and director military intelligence – told the Senate Armed Services Committee that Pakistan has allowed Taliban to operate freely from Quetta while the tribal areas have become a ‘central nervous system’ for al-Qaeda.
US lawmakers and officials also said that Lashkar-e-Taiba has the ideological commitment to replace al-Qaeda as the next major terrorist group in the world.
They said that the Pakistani establishment and intelligence agencies had taken some measures against the Lashkar recently but were not cooperating fully with the United States in dealing with this threat.
The committee was also told that the Lashkar had supporters among the Pakistanis living in the United States who could abet its efforts to carry out a terrorist attack in North America.
‘The central nervous system for the planning (of an attack on the US soil) would emanate from Fata,’ said Senator Evan Bayh, an Indiana Democrat, during a hearing on current and future worldwide threats to the national security of the United States.
‘Yes, sir,’ said Director of US National Intelligence Dennis C. Blair.
Earlier, chairman of the Senate Armed Service Committee, Senator Carl Levin, set the tone for the discussion on Pakistan, claiming that the Afghan Taliban forces under Mullah Omar operate with impunity from Balochistan, crossing unhampered into Southern Afghanistan while al-Qaeda is based in Fata from which attacks in Afghanistan and Pakistan itself are launched.
‘I do not underestimate the challenge that this could present to Pakistan. I have doubts, however, as to whether Pakistan has the will or the capacity to make significant changes in the near-term,’ he said.
While responding to the chairman’s remarks, Director Blair said that Pakistan is taking control of its border areas, improving governance and creating economic and educational opportunities throughout the country.
He noted that in 2008, Islamabad intensified counter-insurgency efforts but claimed that Pakistan’s record in dealing with militants had been mixed.
‘A government is losing authority in the north and the west and even in the more developed parts of the country mounting economic hardships and frustration over poor governance have given rise to greater radicalization,’ said Admiral Blair.
Lt. Gen. Michael Maples, director, US Defence Intelligence Agency, noted that while ‘strategic rivalry’ with India drove Pakistan’s defence strategy, al Qaeda was using Fata to recruit and train operatives, plan and prepare regional and transnational attacks, disseminate propaganda and obtain equipment and supplies.
Gen. Maples warned that while Pakistan has taken important steps to safeguard its nuclear weapons, ‘vulnerabilities still exist.’
Quetta Shura (Taliban council in Balochistan)
Senator Levin then asked both intelligence officials if the Taliban council in Balochistan, known as the Quetta Shura, operated openly, without interference from the government.
‘It’s true that the Taliban governing bodies operate quite freely in Pakistan,’ said Admiral Blair. The Pakistan approach to handling that threat was a combination of lack of capability and desire to combat the militants.
Gen. Maples was more direct, agreeing with the senator that ‘the Quetta shura is operating openly in Quetta.’
Senator Claire McCaskill, a Missouri Democrat, blamed Lashkar-e-Taiba for the latest terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore, the Nov. 26 terrorist attacks in Mumbai and the subway killings in London.
She claimed that despite the Lashkar’s involvement in such major attacks, Pakistan was protecting the group and refused to help the US investigate its deeds.
‘I don’t think the picture with Pakistan’s cooperation is quite as bleak as you portrayed,’ said Admiral Blair. He noted that since the Mumbai attacks Pakistan had arrested Lashkar leaders and was taking steps to prosecute them.
‘So I think that that particular trend is positive, but it has a ways to go and it’s not a simple progress,’ he said.
Senator McCaskill then claimed that the Lashkar had many sympathizers among Pakistanis living in Europe and the United States and was using them for planning attacks in these places.
‘I think on the particulars related to Pakistani-Americans and visa-waivers (Pakistanis living in European nations whose citizens do not need visas to visit the US), we’ll have to get back to you,’ said Admiral Blair.
Senator Jack Reed, a Rhode Island Democrat, claimed that the ISI had created the Lashkar and asked if the Lashkar was filling up the operational space denied to al-Qaeda.
Admiral Blair sad the ISI or Pakistan government had changed its policy towards Lashkar-e-Taiba partially, but it had not become a force for good in Pakistan or in the region.
‘I don’t assess that it is replacing al Qaeda as a worldwide terrorist directed against Western American interests or shares the al Qaeda messianic ideology of a greater non-Islamic state,’ Blair replied.
Gen Maples said he also believed that the Pakistani government had distanced themselves from LeT and had taken some very significant action since the recent past towards the organization.
Responding to a question on the Swat peace deal, Gen. Maples said the agreement had both some pluses and minuses to it.
‘From a judicial standpoint, the application of Sharia law in some form provides a more responsive approach to the citizens in the valley,’ he said. ‘And that’s how the Pakistanis see it.’
‘If you were a woman in Pakistan, would that be unnerving to you?’ asked Senator Lindsey Graham, a South Carolina Democrat.
‘Absolutely sir it would. And it is also unnerving to us from the standpoint of what that means to other militants,’ said Gen. Maples. ‘And we’re very concerned about that.’
Psychological Operations (PSYOPS) against Venezuela: Washington and its war on the Bolivarian Revolution
Psychological operations are considered by the Pentagon to be their “most powerful weapon” to date. Through screens, broadcasting stations, newspapers, posters, design of clothes and objects, they transmit their purposeful and well planned message to subtly exert influence on public opinion and perceptions about topics of interest. It is the new battlefield where all of us are forced to assume a role, because nobody escapes from information and communication in today’s world. It is the struggle for truth and justice against lies and manipulation. The decision to be either victim or combatant within that asymmetric war is in the hands of each of us. Don’t be fooled.

A secret document of the US Army National Ground Intelligence Center, recently declassified in part, through the application of the US Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), confirms that the Pentagon’s most powerful team for psychological operations is employing its forces against Venezuela.1 The document, dating from the year 2006, analyses the border situation between Colombia and Venezuela. It was drafted by the US Army’s 4th Psychological Operations Group (Airborne) (4th PSYOP Group (A) or 4th POG) and the US Army National Ground Intelligence Center, a fact that thus reaffirms that the same psychological warfare team operates in the region against Venezuela.
The small part of the text of the secret document which was left uncensored explains how the Plan Patriot (previously known as Plan Colombia) has successfully pushed the activities of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia ((FARC), Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia) into Venezuelan territory. It is explicitly being emphasized in the secret document that
“…the offensive operations of Plan Patriot and its counterparts of the Colombian military have had an important impact on the activities of the Eastern Bloc [of the FARC]…due to the success achieved against some fronts of the Eastern Bloc in Colombia, several fronts of the Eastern Bloc are conducting more combat and regenerated their activities at the Colombian-Venezuelan border. The Mini-Blocs in the Llanos and the eastern zone… have assumed distinct strategic roles in response to the Plan Patriot 2B…”
The arrival of the US Army’s 4th Psychological Operations Group (Airborne) in Colombia in the year 2006 and the strategy of pushing the FARC and the Colombian civil conflict into Venezuelan territory cannot be taken as a coincidence; for it is exactly the moment when the US State Department and the Pentagon also started to publicly accuse Venezuela of collaborating with terrorism, specifically by referring to alleged dealings with the FARC. In the first semester of 2006 Washington added Venezuela to a list of “countries that do not fully collaborate in the struggle against terrorism”, and then imposed sanctions against the South American country that resulted in the prohibition of the sales of arms from the United States and from any international company that uses US technology. The 2006 report of the US State Department said,
“The Secretary of State certified Venezuela as “not fully cooperating” with U.S. antiterrorism efforts… It remained unclear to what extent the Government of Venezuela provided material support to Colombian terrorists, if it did, and on which level…” (Report of the US State Department of 2006, available at www.state.gov)2
A few months later, in July 2006, the United States House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on International Terrorism and Nonproliferation, held a hearing titled “Venezuela: Terrorism Hub of South America?”, in which they declared that
“Venezuela, under President Hugo Chavez, has tolerated terrorists on its soil and has forged close relationships with officially designated state sponsors of terrorism: Cuba, Iran and North Korea. Colombian terrorist groups use Venezuelan territory for safe haven…”.3
At the same time, the international press started to promote a matrix of opinion, associating Venezuela with terrorism. Articles and editorials published by the Washington Post, the New York Times, the Washington Times, the Wall Street Journal, El País of Spain, El Tiempo of Bogota, and the Miami Herald, amongst others, repeated time and again [affirmations about] the alleged link between the Venezuelan government and the FARC in Colombia, although they never provided any conclusive proof. All the evidences were based on “anonymous” sources, “high-level officials in Washington”, and “analysts”, without giving any concrete names, data or facts.
THE PROPAGANDA WARRIORS
![]() |
The US Army’s 4th Psychological Operations Group (Airborne) is the only active psychological operations unit.4 It comprises 1.300 officials and constitutes 26% of all US Army psychological operation units, the remaining 74% consist of reservists. By the year 2011, it is foreseen that the unit would eventually grow to approximately 2.300 troops who are experts in psychological operations. The official mission of the 4th Psychological Operations Group (Airborne) is to deploy anywhere in the world on short notice to plan, develop and conduct psychological operations and “Civil Affairs” (in other words, subversion) in support of coalition forces and Washington’s government agencies.
The personnel of the 4th Group include regional experts and linguists who have a profound understanding of the political, cultural, ethnic, and religious subtleties of the target audience. They are also experts in technical areas such as journalism, radio operations, graphic design, newspaper business, illustration, and long-range tactical communications.
In 2003, the 4th Psychological Operations Group (Airborne) of the US Army inaugurated an installation for media operations of the Special Operations Forces (SOP) at a cost of US$ 8.1 million. Said installation is known as the Pentagon’s production center for all its psychological operations and their “products”, like flyers, pamphlets, posters, and segments for television and radio transmission that are all aimed at persuading and winning the minds and hearts of those who the Pentagon wants to attack. For example, more than 150 million flyers and pamphlets – all produced and printed in the installation of the Group 4th Psychological Operations Group (Airborne) – have been disseminated throughout Iraq and Afghanistan. Colonel James Treadwell, Commander of the 4th Group, emphasized that more than 16.000 hours of messages for radio transmission were produced by his group and transmitted in Afghanistan and more than 4.000 in Iraq. The printer’s in the new installation has a capacity to print more than 1 million pamphlets per day.
The psychological operations troops study techniques in “marketing” and publicity before they design their “products”. They also analyze in detail their impact and results. They are complete experts in propaganda and in the best ways to exert influence on public opinion so as to promote their agenda. In 2005, said unit of “propaganda warriors” was expanded through the foundation of the Joint Psychological Operations Support Element (JPOSE), with Colonel Treadwell being in command of the entire joint team. Transferred from Iraq to the headquarters of JPOSE in Tampa, Florida, Colonel Treadwell began to focus his propaganda activities towards the South. In press statements Treadwell confirmed that his new elite team for psychological operations would direct a part of the work to Bolivia and Venezuela. A little later, a contract (worth up to US$ 100 million) was awarded to the company, Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) to help design the “campaigns” of psychological operations together with JPOSE. Two other companies, Lincoln Group and SYColeman, also received similar contracts financed through the team’s budget, a budget that surpasses US$ 8 billion per year.
From these companies, SAIC has a pretty dirty past history in Venezuela. It was the company that, together with PDVSA, the state owned petroleum industry, constructed a mixed company named INTESA that began to automate the petroleum industry in Venezuela in 1995. And INTESA was the same company that executed one of the most brutal sabotage acts against the Venezuelan industry at the end of the year 2002, with the intention to force President Hugo Chávez out of power. The company was used as a platform to attack the “brains of PDVSA” by destroying its entire data-base and automated systems and converting it again into a manually operating company. Their actions caused billions of dollars of damage to the Venezuelan economy and its international reputation as a secure petroleum provider and producer. Nevertheless, they did not reach their objective to topple President Chávez, and little later INTESA was closed and forced to cease their operations in the country. Three years later, their new contracts appeared – to carry out psychological operations against the same government they previously had tried to neutralize without success.
Since the United States’ most powerful team of psychological operations is working actively against Venezuela, the fruits of their work have been seen both on an international level and also within the country on a national level.5 President Chávez is already classified as “dictator” in international public opinion and there are few who would doubt his alleged “dealings” with the FARC in Colombia – despite the fact that there was never a single proof offered that would confirm such “dealings”.

US Will Help Palestinians IF They First Submit to Zionist Demands
U.S. Gaza Aid: Too Good to be True! |
||
|
||
12/03/2009 Indeed, it was too good to be true! The United States has pledged around $900 million to the Palestinians after Israeli occupation army’s latest offensive against them in the Gaza Strip, killing over 1300 people, including 420 children, wounding more than 5300 others and destroying thousands of Gazan homes. However, Western and Israeli diplomats said Wednesday that the US donation will be withdrawn if the expected Palestinian Authority coalition government between Fatah and Hamas does not recognize Israel. During her visit to the region last week Secretary of State Hillary Clinton warned Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas against forming a coalition with Hamas that will not meet the expectations of “the Quartet”. Clinton told Abbas that Congress will not approve funding of a Palestinian government that does not recognize “Israel’s right to exist” and “renounce violence”. She added that if those requirements are not met the U.S.-funded program under the supervision of General Keith Dayton training PA security forces would be the first to be axed. Fatah and Hamas are currently engaged in talks intended to reestablish ties between the Palestinian factions that were severed two years ago. Clinton discussed the issue of forming a Palestinian coalition with Fatah representatives, who told her that the new government would consist of non-affiliated officials whose chief task will be to prepare the Palestinian territories for new general elections. She reportedly told the officials she believed holding new elections was secondary to building the bureaucracy of the Palestinian Authority. The Obama administration is adamant in maintaining the previous U.S. presidential administration’s position of boycotting Hamas. Two weeks ago Clinton said lifting the boycott would damage attempts to reach peace in the region. French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner recently supported an initiative aimed at easing sanctions against Hamas. Qatari Prime Minister Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabir al-Thani is also trying to promote dialogue between the West, Arab states and Hamas. Two weeks ago Clinton met with a number of Arab foreign ministers at the conference held at Sharm el-Sheikh aimed at raising donations for the rehabilitation of the Gaza Strip, whose infrastructure was badly damaged during Israel’s operation there earlier this year. Talks between the U.S. diplomat and her Arab counterparts focused on means of distributing money to Palestinians in Gaza. During negotiations Clinton insisted that the money be placed solely under the Palestinian Authority’s supervision and strongly rejected offers by Arab states that they assume responsibility for distribution of the funds. In total, a record $4.4 billion was raised at Sharm, with Saudi Arabia making the largest single donation of $1 billion. The donations greatly exceeded the PA’s expectations of raising $2.5 billion total. Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit said the total figure comes to $5.2 billion. |
Iran Battles Jundullah Near Zahedan
Six Iranian Baluch were hanged and 7 were shot dead in the last seven days:Reza Hossein Borr |
| London: March 11, 2009. Six Baluch were hanged and 7 were shot dead in the last seven days. Radio Farda quoted official news agencies of the Iranian government as saying that the six men were accused of Fighting God and Corrupting the Earth, a term used by the courts to describe the activities of those who are
fighting against the Iranian government. Fighting against the government has been equaled to fighting against God by the Islamic regime. None of the official news agencies that reported these incidents revealed the names of the victims. The Iranian government usually refuses to give the full details of the identities of its victims in order to confuse the public. (1) Four of the victims were hanged in the early morning today in Zahedan, capital of Baluchistan. The other two were hanged few days earlier. Other Iranian news agencies reported that seven Baluch have been shot dead in two separate incidents. The sources referred to the victims as insurgents but did not reveal their identities as usual.(2) Few days earlier a spokesman of security forces announced that 28 members of Jondollah, People’s Resistance Movement of Iran have been condemned to death. Jondollah rejected the claim and asserted that none of its members have been arrested and those who have been condemned to death are ordinary members of the public. People’s Resistance Movement of Iran issued a statement yesterday in which it claimed that they have been caught up in a trap by the Islamic Republic security forces on 7 March but have been able to break the siege. It claimed 15 members of the security forces were killed in the clashes and one of their own members was also killed and four of them were slightly injured. It is believed that Abdul Malik Rigi the leader of the group was leading this operation. The statement said that 7 helicopters, two fighting jets and hundreds of security forces were engaged in this operation. Abdul Malik Rigi is the No 1 enemy of the Iranian regime. The Islamic government has sent at least five hit squads to assassinate Abdul Malik in the last five months. All of these hit men have been arrested by this group. One of the assassination squad claimed that they have been paid more than five million dollars to eliminate Abdul Malik. Jondollah neutralised four military operations in the last two months against their own members. They used for the first time two roadside bombs to eliminate two groups of military cars that were supplying logistic to attack them. In another suicide bombing, the younger brother of Abdul Malik Rigi, Abdul Ghafour Rigi was able to drive a car equipped with 2000 kilos of C4 explosives and exploded himself in the main garrison of Sarawan which is located in the middle of the city. Eight hundred members of security forces and several top clergy of the city used to participate in these ceremonies in which the security forces were brainwashed against the Sunni people of Baluchistan. According to one report the majority of the people who were present were killed. This was the first suicide bomb operation in Balochistan. There is a low level insurgency in Iranian Baluchistan. The Baluchresistance claimed that the Islamic Republic of Iran has been employing a policy of deliberate impoverishing of the Baluch people, deliberately keeping them out of jobs and universities. According to the official figures of the Islamic Republic of Iran 76 percent of Baluch people live under poverty line. The Baluch people are Sunnis and are campaigning against discrimination and corruption. They are seeking a democratic system in which all Iranian people enjoy equal rights. |
New Pakistan Peace Deal Raises Familiar Concerns
New Pakistan Peace Deal Raises Familiar Concerns
A fresh peace deal between the Pakistani government and a major ethnic Pashtun tribe in the western Bajaur tribal region is being watched closely to see if it represents a breakthrough or an obstacle to restoring peace to a violence-ridden region.
Coming just weeks after a hotly debated cease-fire pact in nearby Swat Valley, the Bajaur agreement renews concerns that such peace deals could free up militants to fight the U.S. and NATO military surge in neighboring Afghanistan this summer.
Bajaur is rumored to be the hideout of senior Al-Qaeda leaders, and Pakistani forces have been fighting intense battles there since August to root out Islamist militants allied under the banner of Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan, a conglomeration of various Pakistani Taliban factions believed to be allied with Al-Qaeda.
Media reports indicate that more than 1,500 militants and dozens of soldiers have been killed in the fighting, while some 200,000 people have been displaced from their homes.
RFE/RL’s Radio Free Afghanistan correspondent in Peshawar, Najib Aamir, reports that the comprehensive 28-point agreement signed on March 9 compels the Mamund tribe — Bajaur’s largest — to surrender key Taliban figures in the district, including its leader, Maulvi Faqir Muhammad, and his deputy and spokesman, Maulvi Omar.
The Taliban reportedly have also agreed to lay down their arms and to disband militant groups and training camps.
Under the terms of the deal, the Taliban are obliged to shut down their FM radio station, and any violations of the accord empower local tribes to demolish the homes of offenders and demand roughly $13,000 fines from them.
Former Brigadier-General Mahmood Shah, now a Peshawar-based security analyst, was a central figure in Pakistan’s first military operations against the Taliban and Al-Qaeda in the tribal areas in 2003 and 2004. He tells Radio Free Afghanistan that the deal follows a model of collective tribal agreements with the government that dates back to when the British were in the region in the 19th century.
“The Mamunds have agreed that they will not shelter any foreign [militants] in this region; even if foreigners show up in the region, the tribe will hand them over to the government,” Shah says. “They also have to guarantee not to let the Taliban or other extremist groups operate in the region. So this is basically the renewal of some of the old agreements that the tribes had concluded with the government [in the past].”
Though Pakistani military operations in the region had been praised internationally, local tribal uprisings against the Taliban played a key role in strengthening the government’s hand and appear to have forced militants to agree to its terms.
“It’s the peoples’ victory more than a military success,” Major General Tariq Khan, head of military operations in Bajaur, told Pakistan’s English-language newspaper “Dawn.”
But Fazal ur Rahim Marwat, a political analyst in Peshawar, warns against attaching too many hopes to the peace agreement. He tells Radio Free Afghanistan that unless the government deals with the entrenched Taliban factions in the Waziristan tribal region, the prospects of peace in both Pakistan and Afghanistan will remain elusive.
“There are various [Taliban] factions and they have different aims and agendas in different regions,” Marwat says. “But as long as the government doesn’t deal with the factions headed by Baitullah Mehsud in the North and South Waziristan [tribal regions], it will be difficult to establish lasting peace both in Pakistan and in Afghanistan. [The authorities] should aim to disarm them by whatever means.”
The agreement in Bajaur stipulates that no local or foreign militants will cross into neighboring Afghanistan. But past Pakistani agreements with the Taliban in the tribal regions were viewed internationally as efforts to appease the militants, and the new agreements in Bajaur and Swat have raised fresh concerns that it could allow militants to go to Afghanistan to fight U.S.-led forces.
Marwat speculates that unless the flow of militants into Afghanistan is stemmed and guarantees are in place that no NATO or U.S. forces across the border will be attacked, the peace agreements are likely to fall apart the way previous ones have.

Charles Freeman and the Art of Shadow Boxing
Charles Freeman and the Art of Shadow Boxing

Western democracism– especially in its most perverted form, the Anglo-Saxon two-party system – always reminds me of American style ‘World Wrestling’, a choreographed pretend fight with pre-determined outcomes where all ‘competitors’ are employed by the same organisation. No matter who wins the ‘smack down’, the World Wrestling Federation always ends up with a profit.
In the past week however, we all got to enjoy a far more sophisticated spectacle, reminescent of the ancient art of shadow boxing. The superior performance does not come as a surprise, given the star was a highly intelligent, Chinese speaking CIA analyst. According to Arnaud de Borchgrave, darling scribbling of the U.S. disinformation machine, Charles Freeman, is a ‘brilliant analytical mind’ and ‘anathema to the Israel lobby and the neocons.[1] It didn’t take much more than some bashing by the infamous AIPAC, for the dissident media scene to promptly celebrate Freeman as its latest hero.
Sorry, folks, I hate to be a party pooper, but haven’t you heard of reverse psychology? If an elite puppet like Obama, after appointing Israel firster after Israel firster, suddenly nominates an alleged Israel lobby opponent, like a sacrificial lamb for the AIPAC wolves to tear into pieces, that’s not just political show fighting, it is art.
Anybody familiar with the power of the Jewish lobby should know that a U.S. journalist working for the likes of the UPI and the Washington Post can’t write articles criticising Israel and its lobby like Arnaud de Borchgrave does on a regular basis,[2] without losing his job, unless he has been instructed to do so. Equally, no U.S. career spook like Charles Freeman can genuinely criticise anything to do with Israel and its 5th column without being sent lawn-mowing in Mongolia, unless of course his criticism – and the predictable reactions to it – are part of a smokescreen.
Has anybody actually had a proper look at Freeman’s resume?
U.S. ambassador to Saudi Arabia during the first Gulf War
AIPAC is trying to fool us by accusing Freeman of being a Saudi puppet. If there are any puppets in the Middle East, it’s the Saudis themselves. Pampered and kept in power for the sake of Western oil interests, those guys do an amazing job at giving Islam a bad name. Their medieval form of government, especially the barbaric legal system and the degrading treatment of women and their bankrolling of ultra-orthodox Islamic sects and terrorist groups is deliberately designed to make Westerners perceive Muslims as backwards, dangerous and cruel. This perception is critical to prevent Western sheeples from getting too upset about the sniping of Palestinian children or the stealing of Iraqi oil.
The Saudis have also been effective at preventing a united Arab front against the Zionist occupation of Palestine. For a role as involved in Anglo-Judean state terrorism as that of the U.S. ambassador to Saudi Arabia, it is no coincidence that it routinely filled with career spooks like Charles Freeman.
Chinese interpreter for Henry Kissinger during his historic visit to China in 1972
No historic event in the second half of the 20th century has had a more disastrous outcome for Western interests. What Kissinger did during that meeting with Mao Tse Tung was promise – under the guise of globalization – to move the bulk of Western manufacturing assets to China in return for opening the country to the Jewish controlled international banking sector. I couldn’t imagine any bigger act of treason of a U.S. ‘diplomat’. The fact that Freeman didn’t prevent it or at least warn the unsuspecting public, is unforgivable.
There is plenty of other evidence that Freeman is not genuine. Take for example his insistence that decades of Israeli oppression of the Palestinians was the reason for anti-American terrorism. Someone as informed as Freeman knows of course that those two things have little to do with each other. 99.9% of terrorism is performed by groups that are financed and controlled by Western governments, directly or via Saudi billionaires such as the Bin Ladens, irrespective of what motivates the foot soldiers on the ground.
This brings me back to the question what exactly motivated Freeman for his anti-Lobby stunt performed as part of his withdrawn Obama nomination. It’s hard to say. Maybe it’s just a demonstration of Jewish power. Or it is a warning from the bankers in New York and London for the Zios not to get too cocky. Who knows?! At the end of the day, our ruling crime families need the psychopathic mindset of the Judaics in and outside of Israel to carry out their dirty business. That doesn’t mean that they let them get away with everything.
