The Modern State of Israel: Providence, Miracle, or What Really Happened, Part 1

The following Glossary, abbreviations and essay will help the reader understand how Theodor Herzl on August 29, 1897 predicted that within fifty years there would be a Jewish state.

Zionism: an organization of Jews who believed the Jewish people needed a nation of their own to escape persecution.

Judaism: Jews collectively who practice a religion based on the Torah and the Talmud.

RothIsm or Rothschildism: abbreviation for The Zionist movement corrupted and co-opted by The House of Rothschild and their agents to advance a New World Order agenda. In 1871 Albert Pike founder of one of the Rothschild secret societies, Order of Perfectibilists, received a vision, which he described in a letter dated August 15, 1871 that graphically outlined plans for three world wars that were seen as necessary to bring about the One World Order.

The Third World War must be fomented by taking advantage of the differences caused by the “agentur” of the “Illuminati” between the political Zionists and the leaders of Islamic World. The war must be conducted in such a way that Islam (the Moslem Arabic World) and political Zionism (the State of Israel) mutually destroy each other. Meanwhile the other nations, once more divided on this issue will be constrained to fight to the point of complete physical, moral, spiritual and economical exhaustion…We shall unleash the Nihilists and the atheists, and we shall provoke a formidable social cataclysm … Then everywhere, the citizens, obliged to defend themselves against the world minority of revolutionaries, will exterminate those destroyers of civilization, and the multitude, disillusioned with Christianity, whose deistic spirits will from that moment be without compass or direction, anxious for an ideal, but without knowing where to render its adoration, will receive the true light through the universal manifestation of the pure doctrine of Lucifer, brought finally out in the public view. [1]

RBZJ: The Rothschild Backed Zionist Jews, acronym used when referring to anyone connected to or related to the House of Rothschild.

RAGENT: Abbreviation for a Rothschild Agent

The House of Rothschild (the Rothschilds): Global financial empire founded in the late 18th century by a dynasty of Khazars, an ancient people from Georgia. [2]

The Rothschilds control a vast portion of the world’s wealth and are the hidden hand behind all the social-cataclysms: the French, Russian and American Revolutions; Communism, Capitalism, World Wars and the Modern State of Israel. The Rothschilds are not the Jews of the bible and do not practice Judaism.

Mel Gibson would have been correct if he had claimed, The Rothschilds are responsible for all the wars in the world. The “Labour Leader” newspaper of Britain on December 19, 1891 referred to the Rothschilds when they wrote:

This blood-sucking crew has been the cause of untold mischief and misery in Europe during the present century, and has piled up its prodigious wealth chiefly through fomenting wars between States which ought never to have quarreled. Wherever there is trouble in Europe, wherever rumors of war circulate and men’s minds are distraught with fear of change and calamity you may be sure that a hook-nosed Rothschild is at his games somewhere near the region of the disturbance (ibid, p. 12).

In “Imperialism,” writer J. A. Hobson wrote: “No Great War could be undertaken by any European State…if the house of Rothschild and its connections set their face against it” (ibid, p, 25).

The “Labour Leader” did not use the term Jew because the Rothschilds are the descendants of Khazars; they are not of Abraham’s Seed.

Rothschild founded and funded the Zionist movement to further a New World Order agenda. At the first Zionist conference Theodor Herzl, a Rothschild agent (Ragent) makes it clear Rothschildism (RothIsm) is not about saving Jews,

It is essential that the sufferings of Jews….become worse….this will assist in realization of our plans….I have an excellent idea….I shall induce anti-Semites to liquidate Jewish wealth….The anti-Semites will assist us thereby in that they will strengthen the persecution and oppression of Jews. The anti-Semites shall be our best friends. [3]

UN Resolution (GA 181)

August 29, 1897 Theodor Herzl, the founder of RothIsm at the First Zionist Congress predicted that within fifty years there would be a Jewish state. UN Resolution (GA 181) partitioned Palestine in 1947.

RothIsm is a political movement to encourage, force if necessary, Jews to move to Palestine. All Jews were encouraged; it didn’t matter if you were of Abraham’s seed, you left for Palestine or else.

Herzl picking 1947 as the end of the Diaspora and the return of the Jews to the “Holy Land” is either one of those “bizarre coincidences”, like the same person winning the lottery three weeks in a row, or the partition of Palestine, finalized in 1947, was part of Rothschilds plan for a New World Order, “to effect complete and total control over every human being on the planet and to dramatically reduce the world’s population by two thirds.”

Rothschild’s secret societies, The Bavarian Illuminati, Order of Perfectibilists, the Skull and Bones are no longer classified as prehistoric science fiction and have their origins in the ancient religions and the occult: Jesuits, Knights Templar, Rosicrucians, Freemasons and the Kabbalah.

In 2003, 60 Minutes aired a segment about Alexandra Robbins, staff member at the New Yorker. Robbins, a Yale graduate, penetrated the wall of silence around the Skull and Bones, the American branch of Rothschild’s secret society and authored the best seller Secrets of the Tomb: Skull and Bones, the Ivy League, and the Hidden Paths of Power.

Members of the Skull and Bones include some of the most powerful men of the 20th century.

J.P. Morgan, John D. Rockefeller, Abraham Kuhn and Solomon Loeb are all connected to the Rothschilds Global financial empire and secret societies. They are members of the Federal Reserve, the Bank of England, France, and Germany or, for that matter, any central bank anywhere in the world.

RothIsm was not-so-secretly funded when Baron Edmond (Binyamin) de Rothschild purchased 90,000 acres in Palestine launching Israel’s future initially as an agricultural society. After the early settlers arrived, they wanted Rothschild to “take his hands from it.” Baron Edmond responded, “I created the Yishuv, I alone. Therefore no men, neither colonists nor organisations have the right to interfere in my plans”

Lord Moyne, the British Secretary of State in Cairo, in 1942 tried to interfere in Baron Edmond’s plan when he declared “the Jews were not the descendants of the ancient Hebrews and that they had no “legitimate claim” on the Holy Land. In favor of limiting Jewish immigration into Palestine, he was accused of being “an implacable enemy of Hebrew independence,” and on November 6, 1944 Lord Moyne was murdered by two members of the Stern Gang (Yitzhak Shamir’s group). A Jewish State, a sacrilege, can be found in the Bible

A Jewish state can be found in the book of Revelation. John, an Apostle of Jesus on the Isle of Patmos in 90 A.D., was told to “Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter.” John wrote:

And they will tread the holy city underfoot for forty-two months (1279 days). And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in Sackcloth. Revelation 11:2&3

Herzl predicted the 1947 UN partition but John, in the spirit, was taken up into heaven and saw that the holy city would be underfoot for forty-two months given over to non-Jewish people until 1967 (688 A.D. + 1279 years), when in the first hours of the Six-day war Jews took control of East Jerusalem and the prophesy in Sackcloth ended when they had their own state on May 14th 1948 (688 A.D. + 1260 years). A “Jewish state” is a violation of the teachings of Orthodox Judaism

Grand Rabbi Joel Teitelbaum, believed RothIsm is “the work of Satan, a sacrilege, a blasphemy” and The Holocaust, he wept, “was a direct result of RothIsm, a punishment from G-d.”

Rothschild was well aware of Jewish history and Jews, according to the Christian New Testament, persecuted and crucified Jesus Christ and most of his early followers. America’s traditional churches in the 19th Century would never stand for a Jewish occupation of Jesus’ homeland.

Rothschild Backed Zionist Jews (RBZJ) and a con artist Cyrus Scofield were used to change America and its religious orientation by the use of the Scofield Reference Bible from Oxford University Press.

Scofield, after being released from prison was introduced to Samuel Untermeyer, the President of the Koren Hayesod, and the RothIsm movement in America.

Untermeyer, an attorney, was instrumental in preparing the Federal Reserve Banking law in 1910, and the financing of Scofield’s Reference bible.

The Scofield bible has hundreds of easy-to-read footnotes in the margins and at the bottom of the pages that misleadingly weave parts of the Old and New Testaments together as though the same people wrote them at the same time. The most convincing evidence of RothIsm influence on Scofield are the notes themselves, below are examples taken from the revised 1967 Edition:

For a nation to commit the sin of anti-semitism brings inevitable judgment.

God made an unconditional promise of blessings through Abram’s seed to the nation of Israel to inherit a specific territory forever.

In fact there is no sin of anti-semitism in the bible and Abraham did not bequeath a “specific territory” to his descendants.

Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell weave Scofield’s “Jews” into Genesis 12:3, “And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed” and falsely conclude:

God has blessed America because America has blessed the Jew. If this nation wants her fields to remain white with grain, her scientific achievements to remain notable, and her freedom to remain intact, America must continue to stand with Israel.

John McArthur, author, pastor at Grace Community Mega-Church came up with a “Just War” explanation for the Iraq War because of Scofields “specific territory” note. On CNN he told Larry King, “Iraq is ‘a just war’ because Iraq has not only rejected the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but has done everything it can possibly do to stamp out the people of God, namely Israel.”

Robertson, Falwell and McArthur because of Scofield, ignore the central tenets of Christianity: Seeking peace and loving one’s enemies, “Peace be with you, that the meek and those who work for peace — rather than the powerful and violent — are blessed by God.”

Then he will say to those on his left (Robertson et all), ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’ “They will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ “He will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’ MT 25:41

Pre-millennialism, Dispensationalism, Judeo-Christianity and “Christian Zionism” all rely on the Scofield footnote “A Curse Laid Upon Those Who Persecute The Jews” to justify the Iraq war and Israel’s human rights violations in Gaza and the West Bank. [6]

It is impossible to overstate the influence of Cyrus Scofield and the Oxford Press on twentieth-century Christian and Jewish sectarian beliefs. With limitless advertising and promotion, the Scofield Bible became the most important instrument for spreading the message of Christian Zionism: that the Modern State of Israel is the fulfillment of biblical prophecy.

Uganda is not Jerusalem

In 1903, Joseph Chamberlain, the British Colonial Secretary, brought the “Uganda Project”, a Jewish settlement in East Africa, to Theodore Herzl. Herzl initially rejected the idea but the April 1903 Kishinev pogrom, the Medieval Outbreak where 49 Russian Jews were killed, 92 severely wounded, 500 slightly wounded changed his mind and he recommended the controversial solution as a temporary measure.

Herzl did not live to see the rejection of the Uganda Plan in 1905. He, and further discussion of a homeland other than Palestine, died unexpectedly when Herzl was 44.

David Wolfson succeeded Herzl but he failed to convince the Young Turks to give up Palestine after the Ottoman Empire collapsed. Dr. Otto Warburg (related to Paul and Max, Rothschild’s agents) was put in charge and the movement was moved to Berlin.

WWII is over but not for the Palestinians

The war ended in 1945 and after the bitterest episode in Jewish history the refugees were moved from Concentration to Displaced Persons camps until the world was willing to give the Holocaust survivors the Palestinian’s Land.

As the United Nations debated a resolution to divide the Palestinian land, the UN- appointed mediator Count Folke Bernadotte thought the resolution offended

Basic principles to prevent these innocent victims of the conflict [Palestinians were not to blame for the Holocaust] from returning to their homes, while Jewish immigrants flood into Palestine and, what’s more, threatening to permanently replace the dispossessed Arab refugees who have been here for centuries.” He described, “Zionist pillage on a grand scale and the destruction of [Palestinian] villages without apparent military need.

His report (U.N. Document A. 648) was filed on September 16, 1948. The next day Count Bernadotte and his assistant were assassinated in the part of Jerusalem occupied by the Zionists. [7]

Finally the British navy attacked the 4,500 Holocaust survivors (“Exodus 1947”) on their way to Palestine and a Rothschild Homeland was a fait accomplis.

On May 14, 1948, the British Mandate over Palestine expired and Rothschild had established the Jewish State, located in the only place in the world that could have a clash of civilizations, Jerusalem.

The Jews return to the “Holy Land” portends Armageddon.

Armageddon, the final battle, will come when someone blows up the Dome of the Rock. That magnificent golden domed mosque built on the site of Solomon’s Temple (the abomination of desolation) is preventing the return of the messiah. Radical Christians and Jews believe Christ will not come back to earth until the Jews rebuild the Temple.

Should the Dome be demolished, then for the first time in history, thanks to Sadaam Hussein when he destroyed 90 percent of Iraq’s Wetlands, 200 million people could cross the Euphrates for a holy war in Jerusalem. [8]

A war that will rid the planet of millions of useless eaters.

The Rothschild New World Order only needs 500 million of us for slaves.

Here it is, folks, and it is bad news. The framework for legislation is always laid, and the Democrats have the votes to pass anything they want to impose upon us. They really do not believe you need anything more than a brick to defend your home and family. Look at the list and see how many you own. Remember, it is registration, then confiscation. It has happened in the UK, in Australia, in Europe, in China, and what they have found is that for some reason the criminals do not turn in their weapons, but will know that you did.

Remember, the first step in establishing a dictatorship is to disarm the citizens.

Gun-ban list proposed. Slipping below the radar (or under the short-term memory cap), the Democrats have already leaked a gun-ban list, even under the Bush administration when they knew full well it had no chance of passage (HR 1022, 110th Congress). It serves as a framework for the new list the Brady’s plan to introduce shortly. I have an outline of the Brady’s current plans and targets of opportunity. It’s horrific. They’re going after the courts, regulatory agencies, firearms dealers and statutes in an all out effort to restrict we the people. They’ve made little mention of criminals. Now more than ever, attention to the entire Bill of Rights is critical. Gun bans will impact our freedoms under search and seizure, due process, confiscated property, states’ rights, free speech, right to assemble and more, in addition to the Second Amendment. Attorney General gets carte blanche to ban guns at will: Under the proposal, the U.S. Attorney General can add any “semiautomatic rifle or shotgun originally designed for military or law enforcement use, or a firearm based on the design of such a firearm, that is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, as determined by the Attorney General.”

Note that Obama’s pick for this office, Eric Holder, wrote a brief in the Heller case supporting the position that you have no right to have a working firearm in your own home. In making this determination, the bill says, “there shall be a rebuttable presumption that a firearm procured for use by the United States military or any law enforcement agency is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, and a shall not be determined to be particularly suitable for sporting purposes solely because the firearm is suitable for use in a sporting event.” In plain English this means that ANY firearm ever obtained by federal officers or the military is not suitable for the public.

The last part is particularly clever, stating that a firearm doesn’t have a sporting purpose just because it can be used for sporting purpose — is that devious or what? And of course, “sporting purpose” is a rights infringement with no constitutional or historical support whatsoever, invented by domestic enemies of the right to keep and bear arms to further their cause of disarming the innocent.

MR. OBAMA: DON’T LET ISRAEL DESTROY AMERICA

Two inseparable characters have identified Israeli behavior ever since the very inception of its existence in occupied Palestine: Criminality and mendacity.

As to the first, we all know that Israel itself is and has always been a crime against humanity. Israel’s very creation couldn’t have been effected had it not been for the numerous atrocities and terror committed by the legions of Zionism for the express purpose of driving the majority of the Palestinian population into exile.

Indeed, as the conscientious Israeli historian Illan Pappe asserts in his book, the Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine, the 1948-war was started by the Zionists in order to terrorize the Palestinians into leaving their homeland.

Hence, the massive terrorization and subsequent dispersion of the vast majority of indigenous Palestinians (Christians and Muslims) from their ancestral homeland was actually the intended outcome of the war rather than its unintended result as the Zionists would claim.

Well, criminality and mendacity always go hand in hand, and since the Zionists couldn’t admit guilt for their shameful deeds, e.g. as post-war Germany did, Zionist officials resorted to the intensive use of “weapons of mass distortion” whereby the managed, mostly successfully, to turn the black into white, the big lie into a ‘truth’ glorified by thousands, and the criminals into victims and vice versa.

Some of the classical lies, which have been exposed by some Zionist writers, such as Benny Morris and Tom Segev, include the scandalous claim that the bulk of Palestinian refugees fled their homes voluntarily and that that the Israeli authorities actually implored them to stay.

Unfortunately, such scandalous lies were conveniently parroted by the western media from Australia to the United States.

Interestingly, some of the die-hard Zionist media are still shamelessly clinging to these anachronistic and thoroughly debunked narratives as if every immoral tactic was legitimate as long as the end is to serve Israeli interests.

Since 1948, lying in various forms represented the overall discourse of the Nazi-like state. This writer remembers vividly how the state-run Israeli radio, kol Yisrael, was insulting the intelligence of common listeners when reporting news of the first Intifada (1988-1992), when then War Minister Yitzhak Rabin instructed his soldiers to break the bones of Palestinian children, which is what the soldiers literally did on numerous occasions.

A mere mouthpiece of the Israeli army, the Zionist radio would report that troops fired into the ether to disperse Palestinian stone-throwers and that a certain number of Palestinians were both killed and wounded.

I don’t know if the Israeli newscaster was gullible enough to suggest that the poor Palestinian victims were actually flying in the sky because otherwise none of them would have been killed or wounded had they refrained from using their wings and contented themselves with remaining human.!!!

Nonetheless, such brash lies, which defied logic, were readily repeated by serious media outlets throughout the western world just as the same is happening these days when American and some European networks (e.g. the BBC), have not refrained from giving the benefit of the doubt to the pornographic Israeli lies about the recent blitzkrieg in Gaza.

Today, the general modus operandi remains unchanged, and the “hasbara” fabrication of lies has only become more sophisticated while the overall goals remain unchanged.

For example, Israel routinely justifies the wanton demolition of Palestinian homes in the West Bank, especially in Occupied East Jerusalem, by arguing that the doomed homes have been built without a proper building license and that Israel, like any other law-abiding state, is duty-bound to enforce building and zoning regulations.

However, what Israel has been trying to hide from the eyes of the world is the fact that the Zionist state is using both the litter and spirit of the law!!! (the occupier’s law) to ethnically cleanse Palestinians, narrow their horizon, and force them to leave their ancestral homeland.

Indeed, the draconian discrimination against Palestinian license applicants has been the adopted policy since the first days of the occupation more than 41 years ago. And the goal is always to force as many as Palestinians as possible to leave in order to allow as many Jewish settlers as possible to replace the evicted victims.

The Israeli authorities actually lie as often as they breathe, and instead of adopting a reasonable approach, based on honesty, toward the Palestinians in places like East Jerusalem, Israeli officials spend weeks and months devising satanic tricks to dispossess non-Jews of their real estate and property, especially homes.

Thus if no problem exists with regard to the building license, the racist officials would concoct or invent other justifications for the demolition of the Arab home or property, such as claiming that the relevant area is an excavation park. And if all the inventory of legal tricks is exhausted, then the occupation authority would simply commit the act of rape by demolishing the home without any explanation. And when the oppressed Arab victims cry out for justice, an arrogant Israeli officer, or even an ordinary soldier, would simply confront him or her by saying… “you’d better come to terms with reality. No one will help you, the media won’t help you, America won’t help you…we control America… Even God won’t help you.”

This is exactly how thousands of Arab homes have been utterly destroyed under the pretext of maintaining law and order while every honest person knows deep in his or her heart that the real motive is simply to effect ethnic cleansing and obliterate the Palestinian identity of the land.

Last week, the Israeli occupation authorities said they were planning to demolish as many as 88 Palestinian homes at the Silwan neighborhood of East Jerusalem. The plan is part of a master scheme to destroy thousands of Palestinian homes for the purpose of building Jewish settler homes in the traditionally Arab East Jerusalem.

In the meantime, the same Zionist regime is planning a phenomenally huge settlement expansion drive that would double the settler population of the West Bank, now totaling around a million settlers.

In light, it is obvious that the last thing Israel is really thinking about is true peace with the Palestinians.

This reality, which even the blind can see, should make the Obama administration decide, sooner than later, whether it will hold Israel to account or just behave as the previous American administrations did, namely give Israel caret blanch to murder whatever chance for peace in the Middle East there still is while babbling about a clinically dead peace process that is being kept alive through artificial means.

Finally, I am going to say this, which many pro-Israeli Americans don’t wish to hear. Mr. Obama, if you don’t succeed in getting Israel to withdraw from the Palestinian territories occupied in 1967, you won’t succeed in overcoming the monumental economic crisis now facing your country and the world.

The connection between the economic super-crisis in America and the unresolved and deteriorating conflict in Palestine is so real and so clear.

You know and I know that the so-called war on terror, which the Bush administration waged on a number of Muslim countries and movements, was conceived in Israel, the very same Israel that is now trying to bully or cajole America to start a new war, this time against Iran, a country that never invaded or attacked any other country in recent memory.

Israeli leaders think, probably justifiably to a large extent, that Israel and the Jews of America control the American government, including Congress as well as the main media.

It is incumbent upon you, Mr. President, to prove they are wrong.

Because if you don’t or can’t, you won’t be able to overcome the economic collapse haunting your country and shaking its foundations.

Leaving the Israeli stranglehold over American politics intact means one thing. It means that America is going to get itself entangled in more wars abroad, mainly to ensure and serve Israeli interests of military aggrandizement and territorial expansion.

Mr. President, don’t sacrifice America’s vital interests for the sake of Israeli hegemony and megalomania.

Don’t let Israel destroy America.

SONNY Bono, former husband and singing partner of superstar Cher, was clubbed to death by hitmen on the orders of drug and weapons dealers who feared he was going to expose them, a former FBI agent claims.

Ted Gunderson, now a private investigator, has told the US Globe tabloid that Bono, who served as mayor of Palm Springs for four years, did not die after hitting a tree on a Nevada ski slope in January 1998 as everyone believed.

“It’s nonsense for anyone to now try to suggest that Bono died after crashing into a tree. There’s zero evidence in this autopsy report… to show such an accident happened. Instead, there’s powerful proof he was assassinated.

“This was an evil plot that was carried out to almost perfection by ruthless assassins,” Mr Gunderson told the paper.

The former agent, who has been researching Bono’s accident for the past decade, said top officials linked to an international drug and weapons ring feared the singer-turned-politician was about to expose their crimes – so they had him killed on the slopes.

Bono, an experienced skiier, was ambushed on the slopes by hired hitmen, who beat him to death and then staged a tree collision, Mr Gunderson said.

He called for authorities to dig up Bono’s remains and open a homicide investigation.

His claims have reportedly been backed by top forensics experts who fear Nevada authorities were too quick to call the death a skiing accident.

Investigator Bob Fletcher had also confessed he sent evidence of a 10-year study that linked top US government officials to arms and weapons dealers to Bono less than a month before his death, the Globe reported.

“(Bono) was going to make it his No.1 priority… There’s no doubt in my mind Sonny was murdered by someone who needed him silenced,” Mr Fletcher told the paper.

Barack Obama, the US president, is to be told that to avoid a repeat of the devastating 9/11 attacks on America or Britain he must dramatically step up aid to Pakistan.

A team headed by Bruce Riedel, a former CIA Middle East expert, asked to overhaul US policy on Afghanistan and Pakistan, has concluded that stabilising Pakistan is now the higher priority, a source familiar with the discussions has revealed.

The report, prepared in conjunction with the National Security Council, will focus on the need to co-opt moderate Taliban elements and shut down militant safe havens in Pakistan’s he lawless northwest border region. It will also urge a sharp increase in military and civil assistance.

But The Sunday Telegraph has learned that the need to prevent a repeat of the September 11 attacks has become the driving force behind the review, which could be published as early as this week.

Mr Riedel, who served on the NSC under three previous presidents, believes that unless serious action is taken, Pakistan will become a “terrorist university”, posing a far greater threat to the security of the US and Europe than Afghanistan before the September 11 atrocities.

Recent “apocalyptic” intelligence on the situation in Pakistan has sent shockwaves through the upper echelons of the Obama administration and convinced Mr Riedel’s review team that radicals trained in Pakistan are the greatest threat to Western security.

One White House aide emerged from an intelligence briefing on Pakistan three days after Mr Obama’s inauguration to exclaim: “Holy s–t!”

A source who knows the substance of the White House policy review discussions said: “Bruce is on record saying that a failed state in Pakistan is America’s ‘worst nightmare’ in the 21st century.

“What we’ve been seeing in recent weeks is truly apocalyptic warnings from the analysts, which suggest that that is now a live possibility. The Pakistani government seems unable to control its own military or intelligence people. The tribal areas are already a failed state and a safe haven for terrorists.

“If that spreads the whole country will become a terrorist university. The chance of a spectacular in the US, or Britain, is exponentially increased. And Pakistan has nuclear weapons.”

In an interview with The Sunday Telegraph in January Mr Riedel argued that British al-Qaeda or Lakshar-e-Taiba militants, trained in Pakistan, are the likeliest source of a new terrorist spectacular in America.

The threat from Pakistan was a centrepiece of discussions between Jacqui Smith, the Home Secretary, and US Homeland Security secretary Janet Napolitano in Washington on Friday. Ms Smith also met Robert Mueller, the head of the FBI, who has publicly voiced fears about British-born Pakistani militants entering the US under the visa waiver scheme.

Amid fears that Pakistani militants have already entered the US to radicalise and recruit terrorist cells, US officials have been invited to visit the UK to observe the Home Office’s anti-radicalisation programme.

A British diplomat said that British and American intelligence experts have concluded that while Pakistan used to be blamed for destabilising Afghanistan, the process has now been reversed and risks plunging the nuclear power into lethal chaos.

The US official agreed: “Everyone’s calling it the Af-Pak report, but really it ought to be Pak-Af.” US intelligence reports have expressed concern about the recent decision of Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari to allow militants to set up Shariah law in the strategic Swat Valley in the tribal areas of the northwest frontier.

The Riedel review will conclude that seven out of 10 Taliban and other militants in Afghanistan and Pakistan are “reconcilables” who might be bribed, cajoled and persuaded to turn away from extremism.

But it concludes that Pakistani military and civilian leaders do not yet have the resources to hold the line, let alone roll back the al-Qaeda safe havens along the border.

The review, due to be circulated to senior officials early this week, will recommend that non-military aid to Pakistan quadruple. In return, the Pakistani government will be expected to agree to a wholesale overhaul of its military which will see US special forces re-train Pakistani soldiers in counter insurgency warfare.

The army is currently configured to fight a conventional war with India. The US has 200 special forces ready to deploy and there is even talk of taking Pakistani officers to training camps in the US.

CIA and FBI chiefs are also demanding greater cooperation from Pakistan’s ISI intelligence agency in locating militants in the region and potential terrorists who may already have travelled to the US.

President Obama will explain his new approach to Afghanistan at the Nato summit in Strasbourg next month. The Riedel review is recommending increased payments to Afghan tribal chiefs and moves to improve economic development and a clamp down on corruption in the Afghan government of Hamid Karzai., European nations, excluding Britain, will be asked to help train the Afghan armed forces.

Richard Holbrooke, the US envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan, and a co-chair of the Riedel review, has warned that “there is no way that the international effort in Afghanistan can succeed unless Pakistan can get its western tribal areas under control”.

David Miliband, Britain’s foreign secretary, appears to agree with the expected conclusions of the Riedel review. In an interview last week he said that Pakistan’s government needs to realise that it is not just the West that is threatened by the militants, but its very own survival that is at stake. “The situation in Pakistan is extremely dangerous,” he said. “I would say it’s very grave. I think Pakistan faces a mortal threat, not from India, but from domestic terrorism.”

Even Soviet Union Could not survive this kind of a CIA-backed war

For the world mastering demi-gods, Pakistan army is just a piece of cake compared to what the Soviet power. Of course, the Soviet Union was in a foreign land but then it was fighting one known enemy. Those who know the Taliban when they were the rulers of Afghanistan and remember their collective military power of no more than a few old Russian tanks can clearly see that Pakistan’s army is not fighting the Taliban but an organized guerrilla force, trained and supported by the CIA just as it did against the Soviet forces in Afghanistan. Afghans would gladly join the force against Pakistan many of whom believe from the bottom of their heart that Pakistan is their enemy and wants to establish a proxy power in Afghanistan. India’s RAW has joined hands with the CIA just as ISI did against the Soviet forces.

This strategy of slowly bleeding the high value target is further supported by the drone strikes to create and increase resistance to the army from within Pakistan so that in the complex situation no one could easily figure out if the enemy is the local people driven to the extreme by Pakistan’s war on its people, or it is the infiltrators from outside.

The CIA-RAW and Mossad planned and supported terrorist attacks inside Pakistan is another way of softening Pakistan as a high value target from within. All these fronts of the war of terrorists on Pakistan are further supported through Mush and Zardari kind of puppet regimes and Rahman Malik type of sold-out souls. In such a situation, only the people of Pakistan can save Pakistan. The first step of this war for Pakistan’s survival begins with identifying and bringing to justice the enemies within.

This is a Jihad in reverse. The Jihad from Pakistan outwards against the US enemies has now been directed against Pakistan. Propagadists of the “long war” are calling this CIA-Mossad-RAW new “mujahideen” as a “shadow army.” They believe that a shadow army that could undo the Soviet Union can definitley undo Pakistan as well. All they have to do is to make Pakistan army more unpopular at home so that the US-backed Jihad against it could be well justified.

The more drone attacks, the more shelling on Paksitani villages with the US-supplied cobera gunships, the more Musharraf type generals accepting responsibility of even the butchery committed by the US forces, the more backing of the US war on its people, the more people are displaced internally from their homes and the more the US-backed Jihad on this army gets legitimacy. The Soviet army was at least dying for itself. Paksitan army is fighting and dying for the US in a war that is purely direct against it.

So, surely, the US backed al-qaeda, taliban and mujahidden undid the Soviet Union because Jihad against it was made holier by the books published at the University of Nebraska and the war justified through the “mainstream” media. Now a new brand of al-Qaeda and Taliban and Mujahideen are being brainwashed into believing that Pakistani regime and Pakistani army are worse than Najeebullah in power as a Soviet puppet. This is proved as a universal truth by making the Pakistani generals and top political leaders dance to the tunes from Washngton. Only fools would believe they are no puppets. So how can you convince the new CIA-backed al-Qaeda and Taliban and mujahideen that the regime in Islamabad has no blood on its hands and does not serve Washington.

Taliban didn’t know that they were created by the CIA. They thought they were dealing with a trusted ally – the ISI. Same is the case today. Those who are made to fight Pakistan army do not know their real backers and they do not intend to be fighting the CIA-RAW-Khad-Mossad cause.

There was already a $2 million reward for Mohammed in 1998. In 2000, the CIA monitered his presence at an al Qaeda meeting, yet they didn’t arrest him. ISLAMABAD, Mar 14: Federal Government has decided to restore the deposed judges in the light of Charter of Democracy and to file a review petition in Supreme Court on disqualification of Sharif brothers.

Presidential spokesman Farhatullah Babar said a major development in connection with the country’s political situation took place at the meeting of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani here today.

“Federal Government has decided to file the review petition while the judges will be restored according to the Charter of Democracy,” he said adding “the petition will be filed in the Supreme Court soon.”

Federal Ministers Qamaruzzaman Kaira and Syed Khursheed Shah were also present at the meeting.

Before making the decision, Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani had contacted Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain and Awami National Party (ANP) Chief Asfandyar Wali and took them into confidence.

Amid lingering talks of war on Iran, Israel’s prime minister-designate raises the alarm about a major military conflict in the coming months.

The soon-to-be prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu believes that “a national emergency” such as Israel’s involvement in a major war would help him in his frantic attempts to form a new ruling coalition.

Following the inconclusive February 20 elections, Benjamin “Bibi” Netanyahu, the hawkish leader of Likud, was tasked with piecing together a new Israeli government.

Netanyahu, who is known as “Mr. Iran” in Israeli circles, has so far failed to gain the trust and support of opposition parties of Kadima and Labor.

According to a report carried by Debka, which is believed to have close links to the Israeli intelligence service Mossad, Bibi is planning to settle for a provisional administration before calling for another early election in six months.

“His main consideration is that Israel expects to be embroiled in a major military confrontation in the next few months with Iran, Hamas or Hezbollah — or all three at once,” read the Debka report.

“A national emergency” would then compel Israeli rivals to join Bibi’s government, unnamed political sources were quoted as saying.

The military conflict prediction by the Israeli prime minister-designate comes as earlier on February 16, an annual defense work plan presented to Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak and IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant-General Gabi Ashkenazi for the year 2009 described Iran as “the No.1 threat the IDF is now preparing for.”

The report tasked the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) with reinforcing its strategic aerial capabilities, while zooming in on the development of “remote-piloted vehicles and unmanned aerial vehicles”, as well as “infrastructural investments in intelligence and communications devices.”

Israel, believed to be the only possessor of a nuclear arsenal in the Middle East, describes Iran’s nuclear activities as a threat to its existence.

Israeli officials claim that considering the pace at which Iran is moving ahead with its nuclear program it would become a nuclear power by the end of 2009 and argue that a military attack is a legitimate option for taking out the country’s nuclear infrastructure.

As a response to long-standing Israeli war rhetoric, Iran has moved to upgrade its defenses and has reportedly opted to clinch a deal with Russia to acquire a sophisticated air defense system — the S-300.

Earlier on Tuesday, however, a report revealed that Moscow might take a step and shelve the delivery of the controversial air defense system to Iran as Russia is currently seeking to turn a “new page” in its ties with the US.

“Such a possibility is not excluded. The question [of S-300 delivery] must be decided at a political level, especially as the contract was worked out on a purely commercial basis,” Russia’s Interfax news agency quoted an unnamed source as saying.

The freeze in the delivery of the Russian S-300 surface-to-air missile is expected to help ensure the success of an Israeli airstrike on Iranian nuclear sites.

Western military experts have estimated that the controversial system would rule out the possibility of any such strike on Iranian facilities.

“If Tehran obtained the S-300, it would be a game-changer in military thinking for tackling Iran,” says long-time Pentagon advisor Dan Goure.

Since Yemeni president Ali Abdullah Saleh announced the arrest of an al-Qaeda cell connected with Israel on October 6, 2008, many Islamist forum members have continued to speculate on al-Qaeda’s possible links to Israel (Al-Arabiya, October 6, 2008; AFP, October 7, 2008). Moderate Islamists questioned al-Qaeda’s ability to perpetrate massive attacks such as 9/11 without the help of a powerful country such as Israel or the United States. Others believe al-Qaeda is being manipulated by these countries, which also explains why al-Qaeda is incapable of attacking Israel (al-yemen.org, January 10). Pro-al-Qaeda jihadi internet forums responded to these speculations by posting instances of al-Qaeda generated attacks on Israeli targets (muslm.net, February 14).

Those speculating on al-Qaeda’s possible links to Israel question the chances of a group of Islamists being able to penetrate US defenses, especially those of the U.S. Department of Defense (as in the Pentagon attack), unless they have inside collaborators.  A forum member, nicknamed Sarhan, points to the Islamic terrorist cell arrested in Yemen in 2008 as proof of al-Qaeda’s ties to Israel. Sarhan alleges that Israel, in an attempt to divert attention from its secret links with al-Qaeda on the eve of the arrest of the Yemeni terror cell, sowed confusion in Yemen’s international waters by encouraging simple Somalis to disrupt international maritime traffic in the narrow strait between Somalia and Yemen. As evidence, Sarhan cites the use of high tech weapons and equipment that Somalis do not usually possess nor could operate unless trained by a highly capable country. The other diversion Israel tried to create, Sarhan alleges, involved accusing Yemen of supplying Hamas with Chinese-made rockets. Another forum member agreed with Sarhan’s hypothesis: “You said the right thing. Al-Qaeda is simply a Zionist organization set up to dismantle Islam and invade the Arab world. All the sectarian violence we are witnessing today is the work of the Jewish lobby” (al-yemen.org, January 10).

Some forum members even suggested that Israel paved the way for the 9/11 terrorist attacks through the Zionists in U.S. security and military echelons (alqumaa.net January 8). In the same way, a member of the Lebanese national resistance front forum noted that since the announcement of al-Qaeda’s existence in 1998, the organization has waged jihad against everybody but the Zionists. According to the post, Arab nationals should know by now that al-Qaeda is a terror organization and Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri offered nothing for Palestine except “political pornography” on TV screens. The forum member recalls that, when asked why al-Qaeda has not attacked Israel, al-Zawahiri’s explanation that al-Qaeda was busy fighting in Iraq was yet another example of diverting attention from Israel. The forum member rejects the “too busy” defense, pointing out that for 16 years, long before al-Qaeda’s involvement in Iraq, the group carried out complicated terror operations such as the assassination attempt on Egyptian prime minister Atef Sidqi and Interior Minister Hassan al-Alfi in 1993 (operations that were actually carried out by al-Jihad, rather than al-Qaeda); commenced a terror campaign in Saudi Arabia in 1995; and reached almost all Arab and Western countries except Israel in the following years.

Contesting the accusation against al-Qaeda, a pro-al-Qaeda chatter called on Arabs to rid themselves of conspiracy theories and believe in the ability of al-Qaeda to attack the strongest country in the world, adding, “When are we going to stop glorifying other nations’ heroes and glorify our own?”

Other Salafi-Jihadi forum members were quick to respond by listing al-Qaeda’s attacks against Israeli targets. Jihadi chatters mentioned al-Qaeda’s attack on a Jewish synagogue in Tunisia in 2002 (see Terrorism Focus, February 25), the car-bombing of an Israeli-owned hotel in Mombasa in 2002, a Katyusha rocket attack on Eilat in 2005 (that caused no damage or casualties), and the February 2008 attack on the Israeli embassy in Mauritania (muslm.net, February 14).

Another opinion on al-Qaeda’s links to Israel took a more thoughtful approach. A posting by a Yemeni forum member, nicknamed al-Mahnon, suggested al-Qaeda is being unconsciously exploited by Israel because Israel is aware of most of al-Qaeda’s terror plans. By assisting al-Qaeda in perpetrating successful terror attacks, Israel paved the way for a U.S. war on al-Qaeda in Afghanistan, consequently impeding jihadi expansion, removing the Iraqi threat to Israel and humiliating the world under the pretence of fighting terrorism under an American-Zionist flag. Without al-Qaeda’s awareness, Mossad sought the same objectives because they served the Israeli cause in the long run.  (More here)

Shia couple shot dead in DI Khan

PESHAWAR: A Shia couple was shot dead on Saturday while passing on a motorbike through a restive town in northwest Pakistan, police said, calling it a sectarian murder. Muhammad Sharif, a low-ranking anti-terrorist court official in Dera Ismail Khan, and his wife died when unidentified gunmen, also on a motorbike, passed by and sprayed them with bullets, a senior police official said. “It was a targeted killing,” local police official Ehsanullah Khan said. Khan said the couple lived in a small Shia community close to South Waziristan. The two gunmen escaped after the shooting, the official said. afp

It is time the U.S. withdrew its troops and bases from the region, and changed its priorities from controlling access to oil and defending Israel to bringing about peace.”

On Nov. 27, a handful of Pakistanis armed with guns and grenades landed in Mumbai in small boats and held off Indian police for two days as they carried out a carefully planned rampage that left more than 170 people dead. Exactly one month later, on Dec. 27, Israeli warplanes bombed Gaza City, and killed more than 240 Palestinians before the day was over. The two acts of indiscriminate violence against civilians were seemingly unrelated, but they stemmed from a common source—resistance to foreign occupation, and efforts by an occupying power to crush it.

Both cases involved groups, one Pakistani and the other Palestinian, that are branded in the West as “terrorist” in the same category as al-Qaeda. In fact they are homegrown and nationalist, and long predate al-Qaeda. Unlike the rootless perpetrators of 9/11, their concerns are local, directed mainly toward ending the occupation of their country by a foreign power.

The resistance can take many forms. As George W. Bush was celebrating the success of his war in Iraq at a press conference in Baghdad in late November, an Iraqi journalist named Muntader al-Zaidi hurled a pair of shoes at him. “This is from the widows, the orphans, and those who were killed in Iraq!” he shouted. The culprit

was seized by police and dragged off to prison, but the rage and contempt he expressed proved to be widely shared. Al-Zaidi became a folk hero.

Crowds in Baghdad came out to cheer him. More than 100 lawyers from around the world offered to defend him. A man in Saudi Arabia offered to buy one of the shoes he threw for $10 million. The daughter of Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi awarded al-Zaidi a medal of courage. In Beirut, the incident was the “talk of the city,” according to journalist Ibrahim Mousawi. “Everyone is proud of this man,” Mousawi said, “and they’re saying he did it in our name.” In Damascus a huge banner read, “Oh, heroic journalist, thank you so much for what you have done.” A Syrian shop owner told a reporter, “This is like a holiday. This is just what we needed for revenge.”

Al-Zaidi was responding to the death and destruction caused by the American invasion and occupation of his country. He had twice been jailed and interrogated by the Americans. The Mumbai attackers were seeking revenge for India’s longlasting and often brutal occupation of Muslim Kashmir. One of the attackers asked in a phone call to an Indian TV station, “Are you aware how many people have been killed in Kashmir?”

Although their origins are strictly local, the resistance forces are gaining support from others who share their goal of getting foreign troops out of their country. Intelligence officials concluded that the gunmen in Mumbai were members of a militant group known as Lashkar-e-Taiba, which originated in 1989 as a proxy force for the Pakistani government in fighting India in Kashmir. After the American invasion of neighboring Afghanistan, however, Lashkar broadened its scope and now includes cells in Afghanistan, Pakistan’s tribal areas, and even in Iraq. Pankaj Mishra, an expert on the region, wrote in the Dec. 2 issue of The New York Times that the attack in Mumbai “shows how older political conflicts in South Asia have been rendered more noxious by the fallout from the ‘war on terror’ and the rise of international jihadism.”

The jihadists are also products of the Cold War, when the U.S. sought to drive the Soviets out of the region by heavily arming the religious fundamentalists who were fighting them in Afghanistan, and by supporting a right-wing dictatorship in Pakistan that fostered extremists. Today, America, as the invader of two Muslim countries and strong ally of Israel and India, has replaced the Soviet Union as the militants’ enemy.

Robert Dreyfuss writes in the Dec. 22 Nation that military officials have identified at least 14 separate insurgent organizations in Afghanistan that are fighting alongside the Taliban and as many as 50 in Pakistan. Dreyfuss quotes Chas Freeman, former U.S. ambassador to Saudi Arabia and now president of the Middle East Policy Council, as saying of the insurgency, “It’s a movement, not an organization. What we have been labeling the ‘Taliban’ is a phenomenon that includes a lot of people simply on the Islamic side.”

Afghanistan has become fertile ground for resistance forces. The government is riddled through with corruption, with officials from the top down demanding bribes for every service. Former Finance Minister Ashraf Ghani described Afghanistan as a “narco-mafia state.” There are virtually no government services outside of Kabul. Farmers struggle with drought and the absence of passable roads, and live at the mercy of local warlords. In some areas, the police force is composed of members of ethnic groups traditionally hostile to the people they were sent to police–and behave accordingly. Militants now operate freely in at least 35 percent of the country.

Contributing to support for the resistance is the popular outrage at U.S. and NATO military operations such as aerial bombings and house raids that in 2008 caused the death of 557 civilians in Afghanistan and more than 220 in Pakistan. Afghans also complain of the arbitrary arrests and longterm detention and abuse of detainees in U.S. military prisons. Photos showing dogs being used to intimidate prisoners at Baghram prison were especially angering. Sending more combat troops to Afghanistan under these conditions, as President Barack Obama says he will do, can only inspire greater resistance and add to the ranks of militants.

Obama intends to accompany the additional troops with a greatly expanded reconstruction and aid program, but U.S. experience in Iraq suggests that prospects of success are dim. A report released in December by the Office of the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction revealed that reconstruction efforts in Iraq had been undermined by corruption, waste, and poor planning. A major portion of $117 billion disappeared into a spoils system controlled by politicians and tribal chiefs. As a result, electricity output is scarcely higher than under Saddam Hussain, and access to uncontaminated water is still severely limited. The report was aptly titled, “Hard Lessons: The Iraq Reconstruction Experience.”

Violence in Iraq is down, but could be reignited if Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki continues to arrest his political rivals, or if it appears that American troops will remain past the 2011 deadline agreed to by both sides this fall. If U.S. military officials have their way, the occupation could last indefinitely. When Defense Secretary Robert Gates was asked on PBS how many American troops will remain after 2011, he answered, “My guess is you’re looking at several tens of thousands.” Meanwhile, commanders talk of “repurposing” American soldiers, which essentially means calling combat troops “trainers and advisers.”

As the date for local and national elections approaches, Iraqi security forces have arrested scores of followers of Sheikh Muqtada al-Sadr, and members of other political parties. Al-Maliki accuses the detainees of planning a coup, but many Iraqis see the arrests as an effort by the prime minister to weaken his rivals. Omar Abdul Sattar, a Sunni member of Parliament, pointed out that several political parties, including the powerful Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, were turning against al-Maliki. What is happening, he said, “is the transformation of a democratic prime minister into a dictator.”

Washington is once again closely tied to an undemocratic government. A recent study by the U.S. Institute of Peace found that “as the threat of state collapse has receded [in Iraq], the risk of an increasingly repressive and authoritarian regime has come to the fore.” That finding became even more credible when Muntader al-Zaidi’s brother reported that the imprisoned journalist had suffered a broken nose, missing teeth, bruises, and cigarette burns at the hands of al-Maliki’s security police, who pressured him to say that al-Maliki’s enemies had ordered him to throw the shoes.

What is stated above is both an incredibly alarming and important statement from a very dangerous psychopath, as it highlights the elite agenda almost perfectly. This agenda entails the destruction of national currencies to usher in a totalitarian police state and a completely managed global economy, with a one world currency and central bank (something Keynes was advocating back in the 1920s and 30s).

No Economic Recovery Without Downsizing the Military

Barack Obama is being coy, as usual, artfully cultivating media speculation over the scope of his economic “recovery” plan. To put it more bluntly, Obama is a tease, a media flirt who knows that the shallow corporate press become hopelessly fixated on that which is withheld from them. How big will Obama’s stimulus be? 850 billion? A trillion? As long as media attention revolves around the elusive figure, few journalists will pose the more fundamental question: How can the nation muster the resources to save itself from economic ruin, while continuing to feed the dogs of war?

The disappearance of trillions in notional and actual dollars has so dazzled the public, some seem to have forgotten about the Trillion Dollar War on Terror. That’s the figure Time magazine places on George Bush’s military adventures since 9/11. Others put the figure much higher. Former Clinton economic advisor Joseph Stiglitz and co-author Linda Bilmes’ best-selling book calls Iraq a “Three Trillion Dollar War,” when all costs are factored in.

Of course, there are costs that economists are no good at tallying, such as the cost of making the whole planet hate you, and wish you ill. There’s a very big, long term price tag at the end of that militaristic road – a price that is paid when nobody in their right mind wants to have business or any other relations with your country. But the simple budgetary cost of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars was already an unbearable weight, before the whole economic house of cards came tumbling down, just a few months ago. Better days are way beyond the horizon, even in the best of scenarios, but economic recovery is inconceivable if the U.S. continues to spend such a huge proportion of its treasure on war.

That’s one reason not to be excited about whatever economic stimulus figure Obama’s corrupt banker advisors pull out of their hats. The U.S. cannot pay for recovery and fund its wars, too. Had the financial system not collapsed so precipitously, the constantly escalating drain of U.S. resources to the military would have inevitably led to an economic and political crisis. Back in March, authors Stiglitz and Bilmes noted that war spending had already “crowded out spending on virtually all other discretionary federal programs.” If the banker’s had not done the economy in, the generals and war contractors would have eventually crippled the government.

If Barack Obama is to have the remotest chance to avoid full-scale economic depression, he must break his promise to the military industrial complex – an Obama promise that was always more firm and detailed than any he ever made to the public regarding health care or jobs or affordable housing. Obama must reverse his support for 100,000 additional soldiers and Marines – and cancel plans for new or expanded wars in which those troops were to be deployed. And get out of Iraq and Afghanistan. And that’s just for starters.

The arithmetic of the current, overlapping crises leaves Obama no options. He can continue to finance a war machine that costs more than all the rest of the world’s armies, navies and air forces, combined, or he can try to save what’s left of the U.S. economy. He can’t do both.

There is a “mystery” we must explain: How is it that as corporate investments and foreign aid and international loans to poor countries have increased dramatically throughout the world over the last half century, so has poverty? The number of people living in poverty is growing at a faster rate than the world’s population. What do we make of this?

Over the last half century, U.S. industries and banks (and other western corporations) have invested heavily in those poorer regions of Asia, Africa, and Latin America known as the “Third World.” The transnationals are attracted by the rich natural resources, the high return that comes from low-paid labor, and the nearly complete absence of taxes, environmental regulations, worker benefits, and occupational safety costs.

The U.S. government has subsidized this flight of capital by granting corporations tax concessions on their overseas investments, and even paying some of their relocation expenses—much to the outrage of labor unions here at home who see their jobs evaporating.

The transnationals push out local businesses in the Third World and preempt their markets. American agribusiness cartels, heavily subsidized by U.S. taxpayers, dump surplus products in other countries at below cost and undersell local farmers. As Christopher Cook describes it in his Diet for a Dead Planet, they expropriate the best land in these countries for cash-crop exports, usually monoculture crops requiring large amounts of pesticides, leaving less and less acreage for the hundreds of varieties of organically grown foods that feed the local populations.

By displacing local populations from their lands and robbing them of their self-sufficiency, corporations create overcrowded labor markets of desperate people who are forced into shanty towns to toil for poverty wages (when they can get work), often in violation of the countries’ own minimum wage laws.

In Haiti, for instance, workers are paid 11 cents an hour by corporate giants such as Disney, Wal-Mart, and J.C. Penny. The United States is one of the few countries that has refused to sign an international convention for the abolition of child labor and forced labor. This position stems from the child labor practices of U.S. corporations throughout the Third World and within the United States itself, where children as young as 12 suffer high rates of injuries and fatalities, and are often paid less than the minimum wage.

The savings that big business reaps from cheap labor abroad are not passed on in lower prices to their customers elsewhere. Corporations do not outsource to far-off regions so that U.S. consumers can save money. They outsource in order to increase their margin of profit. In 1990, shoes made by Indonesian children working twelve-hour days for 13 cents an hour, cost only $2.60 but still sold for $100 or more in the United States.

U.S. foreign aid usually works hand in hand with transnational investment. It subsidizes construction of the infrastructure needed by corporations in the Third World: ports, highways, and refineries.

The aid given to Third World governments comes with strings attached. It often must be spent on U.S. products, and the recipient nation is required to give investment preferences to U.S. companies, shifting consumption away from home produced commodities and foods in favor of imported ones, creating more dependency, hunger, and debt.

A good chunk of the aid money never sees the light of day, going directly into the personal coffers of sticky-fingered officials in the recipient countries.

Aid (of a sort) also comes from other sources. In 1944, the United Nations created the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Voting power in both organizations is determined by a country’s financial contribution. As the largest “donor,” the United States has a dominant voice, followed by Germany, Japan, France, and Great Britain. The IMF operates in secrecy with a select group of bankers and finance ministry staffs drawn mostly from the rich nations.

The World Bank and IMF are supposed to assist nations in their development. What actually happens is another story. A poor country borrows from the World Bank to build up some aspect of its economy. Should it be unable to pay back the heavy interest because of declining export sales or some other reason, it must borrow again, this time from the IMF.

But the IMF imposes a “structural adjustment program” (SAP), requiring debtor countries to grant tax breaks to the transnational corporations, reduce wages, and make no attempt to protect local enterprises from foreign imports and foreign takeovers. The debtor nations are pressured to privatize their economies, selling at scandalously low prices their state-owned mines, railroads, and utilities to private corporations.

They are forced to open their forests to clear-cutting and their lands to strip mining, without regard to the ecological damage done. The debtor nations also must cut back on subsidies for health, education, transportation and food, spending less on their people in order to have more money to meet debt payments. Required to grow cash crops for export earnings, they become even less able to feed their own populations.

So it is that throughout the Third World, real wages have declined, and national debts have soared to the point where debt payments absorb almost all of the poorer countries’ export earnings—which creates further impoverishment as it leaves the debtor country even less able to provide the things its population needs.

Here then we have explained a “mystery.” It is, of course, no mystery at all if you don’t adhere to trickle-down mystification. Why has poverty deepened while foreign aid and loans and investments have grown? Answer: Loans, investments, and most forms of aid are designed not to fight poverty but to augment the wealth of transnational investors at the expense of local populations.

There is no trickle down, only a siphoning up from the toiling many to the moneyed few.

In their perpetual confusion, some liberal critics conclude that foreign aid and IMF and World Bank structural adjustments “do not work”; the end result is less self-sufficiency and more poverty for the recipient nations, they point out. Why then do the rich member states continue to fund the IMF and World Bank? Are their leaders just less intelligent than the critics who keep pointing out to them that their policies are having the opposite effect?

No, it is the critics who are stupid not the western leaders and investors who own so much of the world and enjoy such immense wealth and success. They pursue their aid and foreign loan programs because such programs do work. The question is, work for whom? Cui bono?

The purpose behind their investments, loans, and aid programs is not to uplift the masses in other countries. That is certainly not the business they are in. The purpose is to serve the interests of global capital accumulation, to take over the lands and local economies of Third World peoples, monopolize their markets, depress their wages, indenture their labor with enormous debts, privatize their public service sector, and prevent these nations from emerging as trade competitors by not allowing them a normal development.

In these respects, investments, foreign loans, and structural adjustments work very well indeed.

The real mystery is: why do some people find such an analysis to be so improbable, a “conspiratorial” imagining? Why are they skeptical that U.S. rulers knowingly and deliberately pursue such ruthless policies (suppress wages, rollback environmental protections, eliminate the public sector, cut human services) in the Third World? These rulers are pursuing much the same policies right here in our own country!

Isn’t it time that liberal critics stop thinking that the people who own so much of the world—and want to own it all—are “incompetent” or “misguided” or “failing to see the unintended consequences of their policies”? You are not being very smart when you think your enemies are not as smart as you. They know where their interests lie, and so should we.

The ‘Wrong’ March: Why The Pakistani Military Won’t Intervene

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan—The Pakistani military will not
intervene to protect President Asif Ali Zardari or his nemesis Nawaz Sharif. Although
firmly opposed to intervention as per the wishes of Army Chief Gen. Ashfaq
Parvez Kayani, the Pakistani military is nonetheless exploring all options to
deal with the looming specter of a total collapse of government leading to
anarchy across the country.

There is a common feeling in
military circles that Pakistan’s elite political class
should bear the responsibility for its decisions. The full range of the public
administration abilities of these politicians, many of whom have been elected more
than twice and thrice, are exposed as sharply lacking. The political class
consists of people who are recycled, tried, tested and failed.

But the ineptitude of Pakistani politicians has entered a dangerous
phase now. The new threat includes creating an ethnic confrontation between two
provinces, Sindh and Punjab, which could result from the aggressive
drive by Mr. Nawaz Sharif to dislodge the Zardari government.

This time Pakistanis are seeing a breathtaking failure and
irresponsible behavior across the board.

ZARDARI VS. SHARIF

The
incompetence of President Zardari is evident in the manner in which he
deliberately pushed all his political enemies to align themselves against him
simultaneously. The support for Mr. Zardari’s government from the United States and the United Kingdom is a matter of deep concern for many Pakistanis. These Pakistanis
feel that Mr. Zardari’s government is a vehicle for Washington and London to contain Pakistan’s military, intelligence agencies and its nuclear and advanced
missile programs. They cite the examples of the behavior of this government in
the aftermath of the Mumbai attacks, the attempts to sideline and dismantle
ISI, and the acceptance of U.S. military’s aerial and ground border violations. In this sense,
Mr. Zardari has few friends within the Pakistani public opinion. His ouster is
the demand of most Pakistani nationalists.

But Mr. Nawaz
Sharif’s role is no less deceptive and destructive than that of Mr.
Zardari’s. The former premier, who is denouncing Mr. Zardari today,
played the most important role in helping Mr. Zardari become President. Nawaz
Sharif helped Zardari come to power. It is hypocritical for Mr. Sharif now to
condemn NRO (the law that Musharraf promulgated on Anglo-American desire to
facilitate the return of the Bhutto-Zardari combine back to power) when his own
political career is at stake.  Nawaz
Sharif’s recent outbursts are not principled politics but revenge. The
sorry part is that the lawyers and the media have failed to put this opportunism
by Mr. Sharif on the spotlight.

Mr. Sharif has
also declared ‘rebellion’ against the State and has encouraged
policemen and government officials to declare mutiny. This is the most
dangerous aspect of this crisis. The fact that Pakistani television
commentators have almost ignored this dangerous call is surprising. For those Pakistanis
who had condemned, in 2005, the rebellion against the State by
politician-turned-terrorist Akbar Bugti, Mr.
Sharif’s statements came as a shock. It is possible that in the near future,
Bugti-wannabes will quote Sharif’s example to justify such rebellions.
Their argument will be, ‘You ignore the calls for rebellion from Punjab politicians
but condemn those from smaller provinces.’

Another
alarming development was how Mr. Sharif resorted to portray his issues with Mr.
Zardari as a battle between the entire Punjab province and a
President from Sindh.

This use of the
so-called ‘Punjab card’ by the Sharif brothers sets a dangerous precedent. Pakistan’s security managers must stay alert to the possibility of
trouble in Sindh if the Zardari government falls. There are indications that
subversive elements will stoke trouble by suggesting that Mr. Zardari’s
government crumbled due to a mutiny led by Punjab.

This is why it
is important that Mr. Nawaz Sharif does not emerge from this crisis with more political
influence than what he had before the crisis. Pakistanis are right in wanting
Mr. Zardari and his team out, but the Sharif brothers are not the right
replacement. This is also why it is important to heed the advice of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain of the PML-Q. Shujaat
has proposed a three-party coalition government in Punjab, where Mr.
Sharif will have to share power with both PPPP and PML-Q.

AMERICA
& BRITIAN

It was
surprising to see some Pakistani commentators describe the panicked American
and British diplomatic moves to save the Zardari government as ‘good this
time’ because, in the words of these commentators, the two countries were
trying to stabilize Pakistan and save democracy.

The reality
comes with a twist. Such naïveté on the part of some Pakistanis is unfortunate
and shows the extent to which Pakistan stands confused and disturbed thanks to the constant barrage of
Anglo-American psychological operations, missile attacks, and covert
insurgencies being waged against this country by the powers that occupy Afghanistan.

The fact is
that Washington and London moved swiftly to save the Zardari government regardless of whether
they like Mr. Zardari or not. This is a government in which Washington had made huge investment. It is part of a ‘deal’ linked
to the Anglo-American interests in the region.

It is incorrect
that Washington ‘does not trust’ President Zardari, as some Pakistani commentators
have been saying recently. The Americans accepted Benazir Bhutto after a long
neglect when they felt they needed to counterbalance the Pakistani military and
Musharraf, whom America and Britain did not trust.

President
Zardari is as acceptable to Washington and London as Benazir Bhutto was when
the ‘deal’ was brokered by the two capitals to force a beleaguered
Musharraf to share power with someone the Anglo-Americans could trust.

The real
problem this time was that President Zardari made an unnecessary move that
threatened this government and made the military takeover look good to many
Pakistanis. The Americans need this democracy so that they can use its players
to counterbalance the Pakistani military in Afghanistan and Kashmir. They know it is easy to meddle in Pakistan. They know that Pakistani politicians are characterless, corrupt and
easily buyable through money and power. There are no political parties in Pakistan, only political families with their own interests. It is easy for
foreign powers to manipulate these players for their interests.

So U.S. and U.K. intervened to save ‘democracy’ and avert the scary
possibility of the Anglo-Americans having to deal with the Pakistani military
in the driving seat again.

LAWYERS’
MOVEMENT

Despite the
good intentioned statements to the contrary, the lawyers’ movement has
become thoroughly politicized by now. Pakistanis have noticed how Mr. Nawaz
Sharif, a political partisan with his own agenda, has become the face of the movement
and its official spokesperson.

In 2007, wily
politicians too scared to directly confront the military government sheepishly
hid behind the lawyers’ movement and used it to topple the military
government.

In 2008, the
politicians ditched the lawyers and refused to boycott elections under a military
ruler.

In 2009, one
politician, Nawaz Sharif, is using the lawyers to topple another politician,
Asif Zardari.

Chaudhry Aitzaz
Ahsan played a key role in turning the movement into a tool for ambitious
politicians. Chaudhry Iftikhar, the deposed chief justice, would have done a
great service by decisively shunning this overt politicization. But even he,
after being released from house arrest in March 2008, dashed straight to the
residence of Asif Zardari, not a president then but the leader of the party in
government, to thank him for releasing him. When Zardari shunned him, Iftikhar
is now basking in the glory of Mr. Sharif.

Mr. Sharif is
no innocent political player and the message of change that the lawyers’
movement is promoting cannot happen with Mr. Sharif at the helm.

The question
is: Have the two Chaudhrys – Iftikhar and Aitzaz
– irreparably politicized the noble cause of an independent judiciary? If
he is restored, will Chaudhry Iftikhar be in a position to fairly deal with Mr.
Sharif and the other political players in the country?

Then there is
also this: Pakistan does need an independent judiciary. But this should come as part of
wider changes in the entire political system that is falling apart. Merely
reinstating a few judges, who are also now politicized, will never solve the
problem for good.

THE
MEDIA

The media in Pakistan has also gone berserk, becoming political partisan under the pretext
of siding with truth. First its hype helped these failed politicians come to
power. The media failed to help the Pakistani public opinion ask questions
about the past record of these politicians before electing them. During the
run-up to the 2008 elections, the media suppressed any criticism of these
politicians under the pretext of fighting dictatorship. And today when these
politicians have plunged the nation into another unnecessary confrontation
because of their lust for power, the media has readily become a tool in this
fight, siding with one party against another. Until now, there is no regulation
whatsoever of this important medium of influence. Other countries have
sophisticated media management systems that wage diplomatic and military wars.
In Pakistan, this important pillar of national security is running amok.

DEMOCRATIC
HORROR

If
democracy could turn into horror, it just did in Pakistan. Politicians and partisan
activists posing as civil society have just turned Pakistan into the butt of global jokes:
a nation with vast economic, geographic, cultural and military potential that
is unable to produce a mature, educated leadership.

This internal
chaos is excellent fodder for the propaganda that strong lobbies in the United States have been engaging in against Pakistan over the past two years, trying to convince the world that Pakistan is a dangerous country that desperately needs U.S. military intervention and containment of its nuclear and strategic
programs.

The worst part
is that even if the judges are restored and Mr. Nawaz Sharif’s government
in Punjab is reinstated, this failed political system in Pakistan will keep generating artificial tensions and crises linked to
dogfights among politicians over booty. Pakistan is ripe for a major overhaul in its political structure and foreign
policy. Sooner or later, the ball will fall in the
military’s court. When that happens, the military better be ready with
creative solutions because old-style coups won’t work this time.

A politician in Karachi comes out on GEO News to say Pakistan’s existence is ‘not sacred.’ The separatist-leaning government in Balochistan wants to bar ‘Pakistani settlers’ from the port city of Gwadar. And two Pakistani political parties – the Pashtun ANP and Karachi’s MQM – are itching for an ethnic war. Both of them are U.S. allies and their leaders have been flown secretly to Washington for talks. Interestingly, Karachi, Balochistan and the Pashtun areas control the supply route essential for maintaining U.S. military presence in Afghanistan. What part of this picture the Zardari government and the Pakistani military does not understand? When will they dismantle CIA outposts in Pakistan?

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan—If Pakistan is supporting proxies in Afghanistan using religion and is not ready to understand that ‘terrorism’ is a threat to its existence, why can’t we create our own Islamic proxies and push them inside Pakistan, creating enough mayhem to make Pakistan ‘understand’ our point?

That’s the question two Indian security analysts asked in a paper submitted to the Indian security establishment nine years ago.  We don’t know if someone paid attention to the bright new idea. But last year, our security forces did arrest fighters in the ranks of the so-called ‘Pakistani Taliban’ sneaking in from Afghanistan who, let’s just say, appeared to have been professionally trained in sabotage and who were pretending to be Islamic extremists. This does not mean that we should accuse India of mischief. Afghanistan, after all, is a U.S. controlled territory. It is a U.S. responsibility.

The Pakistani government for some strange reason is not willing to make such disturbing information pubic in the misplaced hope that sharing this information with our American allies will resolve the problem.  What Islamabad forgets is that there are ‘non-state actors’ in Washington too. They might have interests that may or may not be in the knowledge of those couple of U.S. bureaucrats whom our elected government appears to trust so much that it has decorated them with Pakistan’s highest civilian honors. One of them, U.S. deputy foreign minister John Negroponte, is a veteran of U.S. proxy wars in Latin America who might know a thing or two about this. There is a reason why a report in this newspaper on Aug. 5, 2008, revealed that the Pakistani leadership directly but privately warned the U.S. military and intelligence at the highest level about “strong evidence and circumstantial evidence of American acquiescence to terrorism inside Pakistan.”  The new American obsession with redrawing borders to suit U.S. interests is no longer something that we can agree on with the CIA station in the Pakistani capital. This is not about shifting the blame. We have our own problems. But you can’t ignore the situation when someone pumps in millions of dollars in cash and in weapons inside your country to effect change.

The mayhem in Pakistan, which surprisingly did not exist prior to 2005, follows the same geographic pattern as the U.S. interest. For example, the transport route from Karachi to Torkham is essential for a prolonged U.S. presence in Afghanistan and Central Asia. Today this city is in the grip of a manufactured Talibanization scare and a potential ethnic conflict between the supporters of two Pakistani political parties that maintain close ties with Washington. Some of the bitterest U.S. news reporting focused on Gwadar as an extension of China, and Quetta was accused of hosting the Afghan Taliban leadership, facilitated by the untrustworthy ISI. So Balochistan became the first target. An impeccably trained and financed insurgency erupted all of a sudden in January 2005 targeting Pakistan’s control over the province. When the insurgency was weakened after the elimination of a couple of high profile insurgency leaders, the focus shifted to NWFP.

This is why the U.S. has developed direct contacts with local Pakistani politicians, particularly in Karachi, Balochistan and NWFP.

We have no laws in Pakistan that bar political parties and their ‘owners’ [since democracy is not allowed within these parties] from conducting their own private ‘foreign policies’ with outside powers without Islamabad’s knowledge. That’s why few Pakistanis know how the United States conducted its own private business with senior politicians who were secretly flown [Asfandyar Wali of ANP and Mustafa Kamal of MQM are two of the prominent names, among others] to Washington and to the military Central Command in Florida throughout 2007, the year that saw the worst internal destabilization in the history of Pakistan. It is also a year in which many analysts saw signs of a ‘colored revolution’ that normally precedes the ascent to power of staunch pro-U.S. governments.

If some of our politicians have it their way, a time is coming when Pakistanis won’t be welcome in one part of their country, Gwadar, without prior paperwork, maybe even a visa. The provincial government in Balochistan appears to have solved all problems of the province and the only thing left for them to do is to deny ‘outsiders’ and ‘settlers’ – which is Dubai- and London-based Baloch separatists’ euphemism for the rest of Pakistanis – the right to exercise basic rights such as voting.

Then comes out the Mayor of Karachi to warn Pakistanis that their country is not a ‘Quranic verse’ whose permanence can’t be questioned. He reportedly made a similar disturbing public remark early last year. This kind of separatist chatter has jumped rapidly in the past four years. While this chatter did exist before, it is our American allies who took it to a completely new level in a calculated media blitzkrieg in 2007, when several major U.S. news organizations ran what appeared to be a coordinated campaign predicting the break up of Pakistan along ethnic lines. Last weekend, a leading British newspaper has come out with a fresh ‘Pashtunistan’ argument as a possible solution to ‘terrorism’.

But no one in our liberal elite is ready to listen to these signs of danger. In their enthusiasm for opposing religious extremism, which is a valid position, Pakistan’s liberal elite is making a historical mistake of ignoring an evil of equal proportion. Foreign interference in Pakistan is exacting a toll on our country that, if left unchecked, might come at the cost of Pakistan’s existence as a nation.

This is why it is incompetence on the part of President Zardari to appear on CBS (“Taliban are taking over Pakistan”) and make it easier for the U.S. government to sell to their voters a new war front in Pakistan. It is strange that everything that our president and his team say perfectly mirrors the U.S. official language about Pakistan. So now Taliban are taking over Pakistan, terrorism is an ‘existential’ threat, and our military needs to be remodeled to fight local insurgencies, as Foreign Minister Qureshi told CNN earlier this week.

Sure we have problems. But when will someone in Islamabad hold the Americans responsible for how they bungled up Afghanistan and now want us to pay for it?

How often have we heard Israel proclaimed “the only democracy in the Middle East”?

But there’s a problem, actually three problems, the top vote-winning parties in its

recent election. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni’s

Kadima (Forward) got 28 seats, Prime Minister designate Benjamin Netanyahu’s
Likud (United) won 27, and Avigdor Lieberman’s Yisrael Beitenu (Israel is Our Home)
took 15 seats in the 120 seat parliament. They evolved out of Vladimir Jabotinsky’s

pith-helmet colonialist “Zionist-Revisionist” movement. And how many lectures have
we all endured on Islamo-Fascism? But Revisionists trained at Mussolini’s naval
academy during his Ethiopean war. If that isn’t enough, Rahm Emanuel, Obama’s

White House Chief-of-Staff, called by the 1/25 NY Times “arguably the second
most powerful man in the country,” was raised in this tradition.

Ask leaders of these parties what they think of Jabotinsky (1880-1940),

or his classic 1923 article, “The Iron Wall (We and the Arabs),” and each
would say something like ‘he’s the greatest Jewish writer since the Bible,’
or ‘the Bible was the greatest Jewish document before The Iron Wall.’ But

question typical US pro-Zionists, Jew or gentile, and they ask ‘who is
Jabotinsky?’ Indeed we can see why modern Revisionists don’t widely
publicize what they believe is his masterpiece:

“First of all, I consider it utterly impossible to eject the Arabs from Palestine.

There will always be two nations in Palestine – which is good enough for
me, provided the Jews become the majority…. It is utterly impossible to

obtain the voluntary consent of the Palestine Arabs for converting ‘Palestine’

from an Arab country into a country with a Jewish majority…. Every native
population, civilised or not, regards its land as its national home, of which

it is the sole master, and it wants to retain that mastery always; it will refuse

to admit not only new masters but, even new partners or collaborators……….
Zionist colonisation must either stop, or else proceed regardless of the native

population. Which means that it can proceed and develop only under the

protection of a power that is independent of the native population –- behind
an iron wall, which the native population cannot breach….

This does not mean that there cannot be any agreement with the Palestine

Arabs. What is impossible is a voluntary agreement. As long as the Arabs feel

that there is the least hope of getting rid of us, they will refuse to give up
this hope in return for either kind words or for bread and butter, because they

are not a rabble, but a living people. And when a living people yields in

matters of such a vital character it is only when there is no longer any hope of
getting rid of us, because they can make no breach in the iron wall. Not till

then will they drop their extremist leaders whose watchword is ‘Never!’”

TWO SONGS, SAME TUNE

In 1917, Britain, looking for WW l support against Germany, issued the Balfour
Declaration: If we beat the Kaiser’s Ottoman confederate, we will establish

a Jewish national home in Palestine. The post-war League of Nations gave

London the ‘mandate’ for Palestine, meaning what moderns call Palestine and
Jordan. But in 1922 London took Jordan out of the mandate and gave it to a

son of the Sherif of Mecca. The World Zionist Organization leadership felt too

weak to oppose the cut. But Jabotinsky demanded that they try to convince Britain
to “revise” its policy and return Jordan to the Mandate. If Arabs saw London cut

Jordan from their “loyal Jewish Ulster,” they would try to get London to entirely

dump Zionism.

Revisionists sing their traditional anthem, “One side of the Jordan is our’s and so
is the other,” at rallies, though they know that Jordan was forever lost. Now Washington

wants Israel to grant the Palestinians a state, to lower Arab and world-wide Muslim
hostility towards Zionism’s patron. But, although the three parties have policy differences,
in essence all agree with Netanyahu’s 1997 declaration that he will only allow a

“Puerto Rico” or “Andorra.” Indeed the Palestinians would only get this autonomous
bit of less than nothing after they abandon their refugees’ right of return to Israel.

There is another tune, Giovinezza, the Italian Fascist Party anthem, that
many elderly Revisionists also know by heart, but don’t dare sing in public.

By the early 1930s, Britain indeed rethought establishing a Zionist statelet.
It would generate permanent hostility toward London in its then considerable
Arab possessions. With Zionism still too weak militarily to dominate Palestine,

Jabotinsky looked for a replacement Mandatory. He settled on Fascist Italy.

Decades after WW ll, the world public knows little about the specific politics of the
war’s major powers and less about holocaust-era Zionism. That there were

pro-Musssolini Jews seems incredible to most post-Hitler moderns. In fact it
would have been amazing if there hadn’t been such Jews. All scholars agree
that fascism was everywhere a middle class movement. While there was a

significant Jewish working class, Jew and shopkeeper were synonyms in Poland
and some other Eastern European countries where they were challenged by middle
class national-fascists who wanted to get rid of their Jewish competitors and control

their ‘national market.’ Given the fascist epidemic in their universities, it was inevitable
that some middle class Jews should adapt the ideology to their own nationalist ambition,
a Jewish empire from the Mediterranean to the Euphrates.

Jabotinsky had been anti-Fascist. The gifted linguist studied for three years in
Italy and identified with the liberal-nationalism that Mussolini despised. In 1926

he sneered

“There is today a country where ‘programs’ have been replaced by the word of
one man … Italy; the system is called Fascism: to give their prophet a title, they
had to coin a new term – ‘Duce’ – which is a translation of that most absurd

of all English words – ‘leader.’ Buffaloes follow a leader. Civilized men have
no leaders.”

By 1932, his wish for an Arab-crushing Mandatory overcame distaste for the
head buffalo. He never called himself a Fascist, but he declared that “the time

has apparently come when there must be a single, principled controller in the
movement, a ‘leader,’ though I still hate the word. All right, if there must be one,
there will be one.”

In 1934, Mussolini set up a unit of  Revisionism’s Betar youth group at his Scuola

Marittima , where 134 were trained by the Black-shirts. He personally reviewed
his Zionist cadets there Jabotinsky became Mussolini’s defense attorney, writing

“Jews and Fascism – some Remarks – and a Warning” for New York’s 4/11/1935

Jewish Daily Bulletin:

“Whatever any few think of Fascism’s other points, there is no doubt that the

Italian brand of Fascist ideology is, at least an ideology of racial equality.

Let us not be so humble as to pretend that this does not matter – that
racial equality is too insignificant an idea to out-balance the absence of civic

freedom. For it is not true. I am a journalist who would choke without freedom

of the press, but I affirm it is simply blasphemous to say that in the scale of
civic rights, even the freedom of the press comes before the equality of all

men. Equality comes first, always first, super first; and Jews should remember

it, and to hold that a regime maintaining that principle in a world turned
cannibal does, partly, but considerably atone for its other shortcomings; it may

be criticized, it should not be kicked at. There are enough other terms for

cussing use – Nazism, Hitlerism, Polizeistaat, etc. – but the word ‘fascismo’
is Italy’s copyright and should therefore be reserved only for the correct

kind of discussion, not for exercises in Billingsgate. Especially as it may yet

prove very harmful. That government of the copyright is a very powerful factor,
whose sympathy may yet ward off many a blow, for instance in the League of

Nations councils. Incidentally, the Permanent Mandate Commission which

supervises Palestinian affairs has an Italian chairman. In short – thought I don’t
expect street-urchins (irrespective of age) to follow advice of caution –

responsible leaders ought to take note.”

There’s an old saying, ‘it takes one to know one.’ Mussolini told Rabbi

David Prato, that

“For Zionism to succeed you need to have a Jewish state, with a Jewish flag

and a Jewish language. The person who really understands that is your fascist,

Jabotinsky.”

Of course Fascism was never “an ideology of racial equality.” Italy invaded Ethiopia,

then called Abyssinia, In 1935. London’s 6/12/36 World Jewry magazine

reported an interview with Revisionist financial diirector Wolfgang von Weisl:

“[H]e declared that, although opinions among the Revisionists varied, in

general they sympathized with Fascism…. He, personally, was a supporter of

Fascism, and he rejoiced at the victory of Fascist Italy in Abyssinia as a triumph
of the White races against the Black.”

There no doubt as to deep rank and file Revisionist fascism. Their March

1936 Italian journal, L’Idea Sionistica, was dedicated to the “Inauguration of

the new home of Betar’s Maritime Squadron.”

“A triple chant ordered by the squad’s commanding officer – ‘Viva L’Italia!

Viva Il Re! Viva ll Duce!’ resounded, followed by the benediction which Rabbi

Aldo Lattes invoked in Italian and in Hebrew for God, for the King and for
Il Duce…. ‘Giovinezza’ was sung with much enthusiasm by the Betarim…. Our

human material is extremely intelligent. The majority are university students and

30 of them belong to the GUF.”

The Gioventù Universitaria Fascista was head buffalo’s University Fascist Youth.

Jabotinsky’s Italian orientation ended in debacle. Spain’s civil war persuaded

Mussolini to unite with Hitler, whose Austrian ambitions he previously opposed.
Victory for the Republic would have inspire Italian workers to revolt. But his military,

alone, wasn’t strong enough to help General Francisco Franco’s rightists defeat the left.

As he knew that he couldn’t be Hitler’s partner with Jews in his party, he cooked
up an Italianate Aryanism, expelled his party’s Jews and broke with Revisionism.

Jabotinsky returned to supporting Britain with WW ll in 1939. By then Italy joining
Germany and Japan in their ‘Axis’ made their previous Fascist ties a monstrous liability.

When Jabotinsky died in 1940 they dropped his very own head buffalo rank,
Rosh Betar — High Betar. But that year a minority of their covert National Military
Organization, led by Avraham Stern, split off and tried to link again with Mussolini

and Hitler. A Sternist presented a note to Nazi diplomats in Vichy-dominated Lebanon.
After the war, it was found in Germany’s Turkish embassy. The

“Fundamental Features of the Proposal of the National Military Organization in

Palestine (Irgun Zvai Leumi) Concerning the Solution of the Jewish Question in
Europe and the Participation of the NMO in the War on the Side of Germany”

declared that

“The establishment of the historic Jewish state on a national and totalitarian basis,

bound by a treaty with the German Reich, would be in the interest of a maintained
and strengthened future German position of power in the Near East.

Proceeding from these considerations, the NMO in Palestine, under the condition

the above-mentioned national aspirations of the Israeli freedom movement
are recognized on the side of the German Reich, offers to actively take part in
the war on Germany’s side.”

The British killed Stern in 1942. Everyone saw his followers as Zionism’s lunatic

fringe. But when Yitzhak Shamir, one of the triumvirate who ran the post-Stern Irgun,
became Israel’s reunified Revisionist Prime Minister (1983-84/86-92), the 1940
document reinforced the notion that Jabotinsky’s movement was Zionism’s

fascism. Shamir is now Likud’s retired elder statesman.

In 1943, political youths trapped in the Warsaw Ghetto revolted against extermination.

The Zydowska Organizacja Bojowa united Labor-Zionists, the anti-Zionist
Socialist-Yiddishist Bund, and the Stalinists. All considered Revisionism to be
fascist. Facing death at the hands of Hitler, a self-proclaimed disciple of Mussolini,

they refused to sully their uprising by uniting with adherents of their murderers’ ideology.
Betar had to fight separately.

TELLING IT LIKE IT IS: “HE’S NOT GOING TO BE MOPPING FLOORS.”

Who was surprised when one of the 1st scandals around newly elected Barack Obama

involved another Blagojevich-land Democrat? In November, White House chief-of staff

Rahm Emanuel apologized to the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee for his

82 year-old Israeli father’s candor about his appointment::

“Obviously he’ll influence the president to be pro-Israel…. Why wouldn’t he?
What is he, an Arab? He’s not going to be mopping floors in the White House.”

In his AAADC phone call, Rahm had to say that it is unacceptable to make such
remarks against ethnic groups. “From the fullness of my heart, I personally apologize

on behalf of my family and me. These are not the values upon which I was raised or
those of my family.”

Benjamin Emanuel was an Irgunist. In the late 1940s, he tried to smuggle

Czechoslovakian guns to the Irgun in still-British ruled Palestine. He was a
medic in the 1948 war.

This writer can only speculate as to how much very young Benjamin knew of

Revisionism’s Fascist connection while it was going on. But he certainly was
aware of Irgun terrorism while he was in it. The December 4. 1948 NY Times
ran a letter by Albert Einstein and other Jewish intellectuals:

“Among the most disturbing political phenomena of our time is the emergence in the newly
created state of Israel of the “Freedom Party” (Tnuat Haherut), a political party closely akin

in its organization, methods, political philosophy and social appeal to the Nazi and Fascist
parties. It was formed out of the membership and following of the former Irgun Zvai Leumi,
a terrorist, right-wing, chauvinist organization…. A shocking example was their behavior

in the Arab village of Deir Yassin….. On April 9… terrorist bands attacked this peaceful village,
which was not a military objective… killed most of its inhabitants… and kept a few of them
alive to parade through the streets of Jerusalem.”

Medical training brought Benjamin to Chicago in 1953. He married an X-ray technician.
They moved to Israel, then returned to the US. Rahm, named after Rahamin, a dead

Sternist, was born and grew up in Chicago but went to summer camp in Israel where he
became fluent in Hebrew. Indeed, in 1991, when Israel was endangered by Saddam
Hussein’s rockets during the first US-Iraq war, he proved to be as Israeli as you can get.

He served in a military vehicles repair unit, but as a budding American politician, he was
listed as a “civilian volunteer.”

What does Obama’s chief of staff know about pro-Fascist Revisionism in the age of the

dictators? Latter-day Revisionists are deep into lying or denying, I was in Jerusalem
in 1983 when Shamir became Prime Minister. I published the offer to fight on Hitler’s

side in an English-language weekly. Foreign journalists asked Shamir about it. The

October 21,1983 London Times reported that

“Shamir… denied that he had any part in the effort by Mr. Abraham Stern… to establish

contact with the Nazis….. ‘There was a plan to… make contact with Germany on the
assumption that these could bring about a massive Jewish immigration to Palestine.
I opposed this, but I did join Lehi after the idea of contacts with the Axis countries was

dropped.’”

Shamir lied. In 1963, Gerold Frank wrote The Deed, a study of the Sternists’ 1944
assassination of Lord Moyne, Churchill’s High Commissioner for the Middle East.
Frank wrote, three times, about Shamir making a recruiting speech for Stern in 1940,

“in the days immediately following the… Stern split” from Jabotinsky’s Irgun. That was
months before they first made contact with the Nazis.

The November 14,1983 Times ran a letter of mine on Shamir’s fraud, adding that he
certainly “joined up with Stern before December 1941, when the Sternists tried to send

Nathan Yallin-Mor to Turkey to contact the German ambassador there with
the same proposal.”

In 2003, ex-Foreign Minister Moshe Arens published “The Changing Face of

Memory” in the Jerusalem Post:

“The movements that founded ZOB and its precursor organization, the anti-fascist
bloc, considered Betar to be a semi-fascist movement, whereas they saw

themselves as representing all the workers’ parties and progressive movements
in the ghetto.”

Without even trying to refute the ZOB accusation, Arens insisted that we discount it.

After all, didn’t Revisionists fight well against the Nazis?

“Sixty years have passed since the outbreak of the revolt in the Warsaw Ghetto.

As it becomes a legend it should be freed of political bias and made to conform as
closely as possible to the actual course of events. This is a debt we owe to the
heroes of the revolt.”

Given Revisionism’s entanglement with the Axis, and these pathetic defense lawyer

briefs by Revisionist leaders, don’t we have the duty to ask “the second most powerful

man in the country” what he thinks about the colonialist, Fascist and terrorist history of
the movement he grew up in? And what has he told the “most powerful man in the

country” about the history of his and Olmert, Livni and Netanyahu’s ideological current?

Indeed, as Benzion Netanyahu, Benjamin’s father, was Jabotinsky’s secretary, aren’t we
also obliged to ask some questions of Israel’s Prime Minister designate?

1 – What did your father tell you about Jabotinsky establishing a Betar unit at

Mussolini’s naval academy?

2 – What do you think, today, about Revisionists being trained by
Mussolini and joining the Italian Fascist Party’s student group?

3 – What do you think of former Likud Prime Minister Shamir’s denial that

he was a member of Stern’s organization when it offered to go to war
on Hitler’s side?

YESTERDAY’S MUSSOLINI FANS AND OBAMA’S JEWISH FANS

As this is written, Zionist media discuss Netanyahu’s problems putting

together a Knesset majority coalition, giving us a window into contemporary
intra-Revisionist disputes. Post holocaust Revisionism must play down its

1930s Fascist linkage and the notion of an israeli Mussolini or Hitler has

been left to the country’s comedians. But if modern Revisionists don’t still
dream of a Fascist Israel, doesn’t their leaders’ inability to candidly treat

their movements’ past mean that today’s Revisionism has yet to qualify

as genuinely ex-Fascist?

Today’s Jabotinskyite parties might argue that their ideology rests on

The Iron Wall, written in his no-head-buffalo-for-me period, therefore their

politics are untainted by Revisionism’s later connection with Mussolini.
Thus their critics are putting the cart before the horse in denouncing

them as Fascists, whatever moderns think of that link. But the fact remains

that Jabotinsky hitched his horse, Iron Wall military colonialism, to Il Duce’s
imperialist cart, whatever personal problems he had with being a duce or fuhrer.

MUSSOLINI’S ZIONIST FANS AND OBAMA’S JEWISH FANS

If Jabotinsky hoped that Italy would be the arab-bashing mandatory needed
to ‘revise’ giving Jordan to Arabs, now the rival Revisionist parties have

different strategies to prevent Obama from making them give up one inch
more than necessary to the Palestinians.

Olmert must step down re exposed corruption, so Livni speaks for Kadima..
But she, as responsible for the Gaza slaughter as Olmert, refuses a post

in Netanyahu’s cabinet. Claiming to be for a two-state deal, she says

joining his government would only give everyone illusions that he might
agree to it.

Ariel Sharon, Olmert and Livni split from Likud after Netanyahu opposed Sharon’s
use of troops to force settlers out of Jews-only colonies in the Gaza strip. Condy

Rice told Sharon that those isolated settlements with a few thousand inhabitants
reminded the world of apartheid South Africa and that the US couldn’t change
public opinion. Sharon abandoned these glaring apartheid examples while

insisting on holding onto West Bank colonies with hundreds of thousands of settlers,
thus creating a ‘greater Israel’ with the Jewish majority Jabotinsky insisted on, even if it
did not include all of Palestine. Zionism lost Jordan and survived. Sharon had it give up

Gaza and it survived.

Netanyahu opposed this, warning that quitting Gaza would be a rerun of giving

up Jordan. Hamas would say ‘Today we got an inch. If we fight on, tomorrow we

get the whole mile..’ With Hamas rocketing Sederot, enough voters switched
from Kadima to Likud so that President Peres felt that Netanyahu was more likely

than Livni to sew together a Knesset majority for a cabinet, either with Yisrael

Beitenu, or Orthodox parties always ready to join a rightist government that
would pump money into their yeshivas.

In 1996-99, Prime Minister Netanyahu said he wanted to grant the occupied

territories the autonomous status of Puerto Rico. That’s because he knew
that saying ‘I want to turn the territories, minus the settlements, into an

Indian reservation’ would be too much for most modern Americans to accept.

Now Washington wants a two-state arrangement, so Netanyahu hasn’t

recently cited Puerto Rico as the ‘final solution’ for the Palestinians. Instead

he talks about pumping money into the territories’ economies, so their
population would resign itself pragmatically to Israeli domination.

As a student of the Iron Wall, Netanyahu knows that Jabotinsky warned

against doing anything like this:

“Our peace-mongers are trying to persuade us that the Arabs are…
corrupt and can be bribed to abandon to us their claim to priority in

Palestine, in return for cultural and economic advantages. I repudiate

this conception of the Palestinian Arabs”

Netanyahu’s proposal is really for US politicians’ ears. He knows that

the Palestinian masses won’t trade their country for money. But he
also knows that Washington’s bipartisan hacks first trick solution to any

problem is typically crumbs-off-the-table-of-the-rich reformism.He will say

‘Guys, I went to high school in the US. I tried what you would do if you

were in my place and the Palestinians say no! So blame them. Don’t

press me to do more for such ingrates.’

A ZIONIST KLUXER IN THE WOODPILE?

Yisrael Beitenu in Netanyahu’s cabinet would be a hard sell in America.
Avigdor Lieberman was a member of Rabbi Meir Kahane’s

Kach/Jewish Defense League movement, declared terrorist by both

the US and Israel. Lieberman wants to add all the Jews-only settlements in

his greater Israel and he wants to legally transfer Palestinian towns now

just inside Israel’s pre-1967 borders into his Indian reservation. He would

then make the Palestinians still remaining inside his reshaped Israel swear

loyalty to it as a Jewish state. If they refuse and call for a democratic secular

binational state — something like the US — they would lose their right to vote

in the fabled ‘only democracy in the Middle East.’

A higher percentage of American Jews voted for a black president than

other whites. Yisrael Beitenu is new to most of them. Some US Zionist

leaders fear that Obamaite Jews would come to see Lieberman’s
Yisrael Beitenu as Zionism’s KKK. And we may presume that Emanuel

and Obama don’t want any party in Israel’s cabinet that’s so likely to

simultaneously infuriate Palestinians and American Jews. These Jews
and Obama might accept Likud relying on Yisrael Beitenu voting for Likud

policies from outside the cabinet, but more intimate entanglement with

Lieberman & Co. can only be disastrous for Israel’s image among Jews
and gentiles, here and everywhere.

Presumably, Obama and Emanuel, an Orthodox Jew, prefer Netanyahu to
include Orthodox fundamentalist parties in his cabinet, rather than Yisrael Beitenu.

But that won’t please most American Jews. Only circa 10% are Orthodox. Most

older US Jews are members of the “Reform” or “Conservative” Jewish sects,
or are not religious. Most young Jews go further and intermarry with gentiles.

These elements dislike the fact that there is no secular marriage in Israel, and

Israeli Reform and Conservative marriages are not recognized by the Zionist state.
Ever more American Jewish women are enraged at the officially Orthodox Zionist state.

They know that every Orthodox male adult’s morning prayer is supposed to

include “Thank you, God, for making me a man, not a woman.” And they also

know that no Jewish woman, not even Livni, can initiate a divorce in

Israel.

Whether Netanyahu turns towards Yisrael Beitenu or Orthodox fundamentalism
or both, and succeeds or fails to put together a cabinet, be certain that more
Americans, Arabs, Jews, including Israelis, and other folks, everywhere, will be

trying to understand Zionism. So allow me to toot my own horn. As the author,

should be legitimately concerned as to whether or not I fairly describe Revisionism as

colonialist and fascist. But these articles, by Revisionism’s founder and his Italian disciples,

prove both accusations beyond a shadow of a doubt. Therefore I urge you to spread the word,
more accurately, I urge you to spread their words. Pass their articles on to your lists and,
