Why Do Pakistan’s Terrorists Always Seem to Want to Force Foreign Intervention?

[A typical bullshit article from the Pakistani press, on the same day as the latest Peshawar car bombing, blaming India for that bombing and the previous bombing of the Indian embassy in KabulJust as in all false flag attacks, this one instantly fingers the real killers, with absolutely zero proof, always the opposite of the real attackers.  Who is the opposite of RAW?  It is more likely the work of ISI than India.]

Linkage between Peshawar & Kabul Blasts

09
Oct, 2009
Zaheerul Hassan

On 9th October, 2009 at least 50 people have been killed and many injured in a suspected bomb blast near a market in the north-western Pakistani city of Peshawar. According to the locals a vehicle laden with explosives had been detonated and destroyed near Peshawar’s Khyber Bazaar. Earlier, on October 5, 2009, RAW trained terrorist blasted himself outside the UN’s World Food Programme offices in Islamabad. The explosion left two Pakistani women and a foreigner killed and eight others injured. President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilliani strongly condemned the blasts and said Pakistan could not be deterred in its efforts to fight extremism and terrorism and would continue its quest to bring peace by eliminating the terrorists.

A day earlier on October 8th, 2009 a suicide car bomber exploded his car outside the Indian Embassy in Kabul (Afghanistan). In this detonation 17 people killed and 80 seriously wounded. It was second major blast in the city within one a month or so. As usual, Indian media again tried to link it with Islamabad. Whereas, Pakistan Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit told reporters that there were elements that are “trying to sabotage coalition efforts (to restore peace) in Afghanistan and damage Pakistan-India relations. It is mentionable here that all such type of sabotage acts against foreign installations and embassies have been carried out whenever Pakistan achieved some success against militancy or world community  got convinced to  provide some economic assistance to Islamabad .
The bomb blasts of Peshawar cannot be taken as repercussions of Kabul attack since both were planned and executed under the direct supervision of RAW. In all attacks same methods and similar nature of explosive have been used in the cars. In the recent cars bombing, VBIED (Vehicle borne improvised explosive device) have been detonated which is the specialty of Indian Intelligence agency. The inquiry of Samjhota Express proved that   RAW‘s agent Lt Col Prohit was an expert of preparing such type of devices and vehicles for killing of minorities. [The Samijhauta Express was attacked with incendiary devices.]

McChrystal demands bloodshed

Massive expansions of US-NATO “counterinsurgency” in Afghanistan

by Larry Chin

.

Global Research

US and NATO commander Stanley A. McChrystal is demanding a massive expansion of “counterinsurgency” operations in Afghanistan that, according to classified documents, would require 500 thousand troops over the next five years.

While bellicose new calls for the Obama administration and NATO to exponentially deepen the “war on terrorism” are being repeated endlessly, McChrystal and his own horrific crimes have received scant notice in the corporate propaganda media.

Murderer

McChrystal is a cold-blooded killer, who spearheads the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), which writer Seymour Hersh identified as an executive assassination wing of the White house—a death squad.

As noted in Steve Lendman’s "Afghantistan’s Operation Phoenix":

“McChrystal is a hired gun, an assassin, a man known for committing war crime atrocities as head of the Pentagon’s infamous Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) – established in 1980 and comprised of the Army’s Delta Force and Navy Seals, de facto death squads writer Seymour Hersh described post-9/11 as an "executive assassination wing" operating out of Dick Cheney’s office.

“A 2006 Newsweek profile called JSOC ‘part of what Vice President Dick Cheney was referring to when he said America would have to ‘work on the dark side’ after 9/11’…

“In his May 17 article titled ‘Obama’s Animal Farm: Bigger, Bloodier Wars Equal Peace and Justice", James Petras called him a ‘notorious psychopath’ in describing him this way:

“ ‘His rise through the ranks was ‘marked by his central role in directing special operations teams engaged in extrajudicial assassinations, systematic torture, bombing of civilian communities and search and destroy missions. He is the very embodiment of the brutality and gore that accompanies military-driven empire building.’”

“…JSOC’s assignment was (and still is) to capture or kill ‘high-value’ combatants, including Saddam Hussein, Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi, and many hundreds of Iraqis targeted in sweeping capture and extermination missions that include lots of collateral killings and destruction.”

Deception and propaganda

In addition to his role as a leading hit man for both the Bush-Cheney and Obama administrations, McChrystal has also spearheaded the official cover-ups of notorious black ops, including the manufactured "capture" of Saddam Hussein, to a host of deceptions surrounding the “kill” of Musab Zarqawi, which the Pentagon has admitted was a fabrication and a psy-op.

It was also McChrystal who personally led the cover-up of the friendly fire murder of Pat Tillman.

Torturer

McChrystal and his thugs are enthusiastic proponents of sadistic torture, as noted by Lendman, “committing endless atrocities Baghdad’s Camp Nama (an acronym for Nasty-Ass Military Area) and elsewhere in Iraq.

“Through most of 2003 and 2004, detainees were held at interrogation facilities like Camp Nama at Baghdad International Airport (BIAP). With good reason, it was off-limits to the ICRC and most US military personnel. In summer 2004, it was moved to a new location near Balad and also had facilities in Fallujah, Ramadi and Kirkuk.

US personnel and former detainees reported torture and abuse as common practice, including beatings, confinement in shipping containers for 24 hours in extreme heat, exposure to extreme cold, death threats, humiliation, psychological stress, and much more.”

Hell’s warden

What the world is witnessing in McChrystal’s skyrocketing public profile and political power is yet another instance in which a murderous psychopath is not where he belongs (in a high security prison, or institutionalized), but in command of US and NATO forces, virtually dictating the course of world events.

There is little doubt that the Obama administration, already an enthusiastic proponent of the "war on terrorism" deception, will follow McChrystal deeper in the abyss of death, horror and genocide. Throughout the years of imperial set-up into the 9/11 operation and the world war that ensued thereafter, Afghanistan today remains the key geostrategic hub for oil and gas pipelines and transit routes, opium and narco-trafficking, and military control of the Eurasian sub-continent. Obama’s vaunted promise to withdraw troops from Iraq is nothing more than a transfer of operations into Afghanistan (and Pakistan, Iran, etc.)

Seasoned observers of history, particularly the atrocities of the US wars in Vietnam and Latin America, are too familiar with the word “counterinsurgency”; what the code word means, how it will be used as a pretext, and what will happen next.

A world-class killer, assassin and spook will lead the charge.

Waziristan Offensive Dependent Upon US Military Equipment

Army awaiting US resources to begin Waziristan offensive: FM

* Govt intends to take South Waziristan, hold it, integrate it into mainstream
* Pakistan wants US trust, drones, market access

LAHORE/WASHINGTON: With Pakistan planning a stepped up offensive in South Waziristan to eliminate the Taliban, security units are awaiting military resources promised by the US to begin the assault, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said.

Talking to The Washington Times on Thursday, Qureshi said the new offensive would “be more ambitious than any other in the nation’s history” and the country’s security forces intended to take the agency, hold it and integrate its impoverished tribal population into mainstream society.

“We intend to drive them out, we intend to clear the territories of sanctuaries, we intend to hold that ground, we intend to amalgamate that area into mainstream Pakistan,” he said. Qureshi said the situation in the country had changed since democracy was restored in 2008 and the government and the military were now united against the Taliban threat.

The foreign minister said the timing of the offensive “will depend on the availability of our resources,” such as night-vision equipment and helicopters.

“Now [the US] wants quick delivery. Give us the resources to move at a faster pace,” he told the paper. He said unlike Afghanistan, Pakistan did not require US “boots on the ground” to set its wrongs right.

Qureshi did not comment on the potential US troop increase in Afghanistan, but said he thought US President Barack Obama would decide the matter by the end of this month or early next month, adding that Obama “should share his decision with Pakistan before it is announced”.

The foreign minister said that despite past disagreements, Pakistan was the “most important ally” in the region for Washington.

“We have been your consistent foul-weather friend,” Qureshi said. “Pakistan is going to be critical to your success and failure in Afghanistan.”

He said Pakistanis needed to be reassured that the US was making a “long-term commitment” to the region and was not going to abandon it as it did at the end of the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan.

Qureshi said Pakistan “supports and appreciates new US legislation that will give Pakistan $7.5 billion in economic aid over five years”.

He said the bill was “the first demonstration of engaging with the people of Pakistan” and said it would support urgent needs in education, health and poverty alleviation, the paper said.

But Qureshi said a debate was still on over the language of the bill, which he said his government intended to fully explain to parliament, military and the public.

“In politics, in legislation, there are compromises,” he said. “Are we on the same page as far as extremism is concerned? Are we on the same page as far as terrorism is concerned? Are we on the same page as far as democracies are concerned? Are we on the same page as far as social development is concerned? … And the answer to that is yes, we are,” he said.

Accessible trust: Meanwhile, Reuters reported Qureshi as saying that Pakistan did not just want US aid, but greater market access for its goods, transfer of drone technology and above all, trust.

He said US aid would not harm Pakistan, but said the country was “not asking for you [US] to keep doling out aid, we are asking for greater market access. Better trade with the European Union and the US can help our economy stabilise.”

Qureshi also asked the US to stop doubting the Inter-Services Intelligence.

“If you keep doubting them, and don’t expect them to cooperate with you, that’s a contradiction,” he said.

PASHTUNS ARE TERRORISTS SAYS GORDON BROWN

PASHTUNS ARE TERRORISTS SAYS GORDON BROWN

Gordon Brown the Prime Minister of Britain , Showed his True Colors and his Racism which is hall mark of British People. He could not hide his hate of Pashtuns who are defeating the British and US Forces with Thier Rag Tag army, while Half of Pakistan is Busy getting cozy with US and demanding for Dollars. While Rich Feudals of Punjab Fails to Pay any Taxes.

The earth did not shake and sky did not fall, the President was quite and prime minister was mum. The Foreign Office was Quite as if it is All right to Insult the Pashtuns are they are not part of Pakistan. As Pakistan, does not include the Pashtuns and Balauchs. The Government policy is Partisan and Discriminatory.

Gordon Brown was committing the Mistake which is costing the Lives of British Soldiers and American and NATO ones , too . It is the classical mistake which Obama should avoid and he can easily do it after his profile is being elevated as Noble Peace Prize nominee.

Even the Criminal Gen Mushraff who broke the Constitution and the Law of States tantamount to Hanging to death according to article six of Pakistan Constitution , and currently in self exile in UK is also is a racist and Hates Pashtuns too as Gordon brown did. He too is making Propaganda against Pashtuns when he addresses the Think tanks and was involved in his Baltimore speech where a baluch Pakistani National Challenged him causing him Embarrassment.

The Murders of Pashtun in Karachi by Karachi Based MQM Terrorist seen Live by Geo and AAJ TV on, 12 May 2007 Karachi Massacre too of Poor Innocent Pashtuns in Karachi.  The Judicial Inquiry in that is being delayed,  too even now after Judiciary is active and enabled. This is because of Involvement of DG rangers Gen Javaid Zia .

He Always blames the Pashtuns as Terrorists while the Terrorist of Punjab are treated like VIPs , like Maulana Hafiz Saed and Mualana Massod Azhar , who was involved in Hijacking of an Indian Airlines to Afghanistan are not Terrorist at all because they are Punjabi. The Nation was ready to go to war, with India to defend them.

The Prime minister of Pakistan, who was very active making Heroes out of Zeros, when he was putting Garlands on the Pakistani Omra Pilgrims who were caught with Kilos of Heroin in Their sandals.

The MQM and PPP with PM and the President Zardari , Interior Minister Rehman Malik all were there to Score points cheaply . They were provided Special planes of Air force to take them from Saudi to Rawalpindi and then to Karachi costing Millions of rupees. Why were they Heroes of Pakistan and what have they done ?  They were just some Simpletons who were , defrauded into Carrying heroin. Not some national Heroes.

While the Real heroes especially from NWFP, who are Master Level Students who will in future make Pakistan Bright and stop the Jihalat ( Illiteracy ) of Taliban with Their Education and Skill were left alone at the Mercy of God , to rot in Jails of UK. Not a single Iota of Resistance, from Pakistani, Foreign office, The PM and President. Not a Single show of concerns or action to address this Racist Statement of PM Brown and No  Garlands for those Released No Political or State Officer to Even Receive them and complete Blank and Censorship by Pakistani and National Media too.

The were innocent and not any terrorists , they were made Al-Qaeda Terrorists by the Racist PM Gordon Brown of UK , and he did not have the decency of Apologizing to them and Pakistani nation. He flatly refused when he visited Pakistan to Acknowledge the Mistake they made in identifying them as terrorists. .

Some of them are still in Jails and the ones who are released are now were never Greeted by the Prime Minister of Multan not NWFP and Balauchistan, like the Alleged smugglers of Heroin.

This Operation was Called , Operation Pathway after the Document was seen by Media , being carried by Bob Quick of  British  Intelligence and was Exposed by Media and then Blown out of Proportio  by the Media Owned by Ropuert Murdoch and his Newspapers .

This Caused humilation to Brtish and Thier integreity in the eyes of the world .

Probably it is OK if you are alleged criminal if you are not Pashtun and Prime Minister MQM will put Garlands around you and will have free rides worth Million of Rupees on Special Planes on Tax Payers money.  However, if you are pashtuns you are a Terrorist. it is for the First time that now I understand the definition of a Terrorist now .

It is Time Mr Gordon Brown to Apologize to Pashtuns, it is never too Late, Although UK had apologized to India when a Doctor was caught after his Mobile phone SIM was used in Terrorism and he was wrongly implicated . Why an Exception to Pashtuns.

Other wise Gordon Brown should read the Wikipedia and about the First and Second and Third Afghan Wars where , just a Medical Doctor William Broydon in 1859 , was left to survive to tell the Tale and all the British Troops were annihilated including the son of Director of East India Company , General Elphinstone who was killed in  Kabul too . Maybe his memory would be refreshed.

The British Regiment which fought in Those wars, were declared as battle of Honors Regiments and Special Medals were issued, where the Honor of Super Power Britain where the sun would not set was lost.

Maybe he remembers sir Olaf Caroe, saying that, never mess with Pashtuns. Maybe the History of going through books by British is lost and his hence thier sense of Judgments too.

Thanking you in Anticipation from ,

Hollywood’s Push to Normalize Sex With Children

[According to Wikipedia: Approximately 15% to 25% of women and 5% to 15% of men were sexually abused when they were children.]

The Polanski Culture: Hollywood’s Push to Normalize

Sex With Children

by John Nolte

The vocal, sanctimonious Free-Polanski uproar is merely a symptom of an entertainment culture infected with a moral cancer – a culture that regularly practices up on the screen what we’ve heard them preach this last week on behalf of a confessed child rapist.

Last year Miramax released “Doubt,” a high-profile piece of Oscar-bait starring Academy Award winners’ Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Streep plays a puritanical nun on a moral crusade to expose a Priest (Hoffman) who she believes is sexually abusing a 12 year-old boy. Both characters are portrayed as unsympathetic (especially Streep’s) but in just a couple scenes the boy’s working-class mother (Mrs. Miller, played by Viola Davis) is established as the moral center of the film – the only one truly interested in the welfare of her child. When Mrs. Miller’s informed that her son’s being molested, the Moral Center Of The Film responds that her 12 year-old boy is gay, a social outcast, and beaten regularly by his homophobic father … so maybe the best option for him is a sexual relationship with a forty-something child predator.

towelhead

Starring Aaron Eckhart, Maria Bello, and written and directed by Oscar-winner Alan Ball, last year’s Towelhead” is a film Roman Polanski might have seen many, many times while wearing a rain coat. The protagonist is 13 year-old Jasira (played by the then barely eighteen Summer Bishil) and the story surrounds her sexual abuse at the hands of a number of men, including Eckhart’s Gulf War Vet. Rather than the repeated abuse damaging the young girl, the filmmaker portrays the rapes and molestations as a healthy and sexually liberating experience. More than once the audience is “treated” to lingering shots of Jasira’s bare legs as she discovers the joys of the orgasm while masturbating to photographs of naked women.

Kate Winslet won last year’s Best Actress Oscar for her role in “The Reader,” in which she plays a “sympathetic” Nazi guilty of mass murder who seduces and then engages in a steamy sexual affair with a 15 year-old boy. The sex scenes between this mature woman and a child lean heavily on the erotic, as opposed to the creepy. (The “sympathetic Nazi” issue we’ll save for another post.)

Yes, in just one year, Hollywood released three films that in one way or another portrayed sex with children as potentially healthy or their molester as sympathetic. And these aren’t fringe, indie films either. All three involve name stars and Oscar winners.

Unfortunately, this is not a conspiracy. Hollywood deviants never gathered together to plan for a slate of films aimed at a drip-drip campaign designed to dull our moral outrage towards the most heinous crime imaginable. It’s worse than that. We’re up against a culture; the same culture that can’t quite grasp why a child rapist should have to serve prison time for a crime he’s confessed to.

woodsman_lg

And this is how cinematic propaganda works. Whether the filmmaker’s motivations are good or evil, the idea is to get decent and thoughtful people to start second guessing themselves as they’re enveloped in the dark and held captive by the powerful sound and fury of the moving picture. First we’re led to identify and sympathize with a particular character, then that character does something designed to challenge our belief structure. This can range from, “If John Wayne opposes racism, maybe I should,” to, “Well, if a loving mother is okay with it, maybe I need to get a little more nuanced and tolerant about this whole child-rape thing.”

On its face, that may sound laughable, and maybe it is, but that doesn’t mean our eyes are lying to us. Last year merely topped off a campaign targeted at our children that began some time ago.

In 2006’s “Notes on a Scandal,” Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett plays a school teacher engaged in a steamy sexual affair with one of her students. Like “The Reader,” the sex scenes between a mature woman and her student strive for the erotic and never once does the story stop to examine how such a destructive affair might psychologically affect a teen-aged boy. That same year, in “Little Children,” Jackie Earle Haley was Oscar-nominated for his support work as a molester just released from prison who’s the victim of that favorite Hollywood whipping boy, suburban hypocrisy. Just two years earlier, Kevin Bacon’s heroic molester in “The Woodsman” not only saves the day and wins the pretty girl, but in his valiant struggle to “reform” he’s presented as a kind of “civil rights” metaphor as policemen and “intolerant” co-workers torment him.

2004_birth_013

The award for Most Unsettling, however, must go to 2004’s “Birth,” where Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman stars as a widow convinced her dead husband has returned in the form of a 10 year-old boy. If watching a near-forty year-old woman exchange longing looks with a little kid isn’t creepy enough, wait till they end up naked in a bathtub together.

Whether it’s true or not that seventy-five years ago Clark Gable nearly bankrupted the t-shirt industry by not wearing one in “It Happened One Night,” what is true is that billions of dollars are spent annually by advertisers convinced sound and images can alter behavior. You’d have to be a fool to make an argument against the persuasive powers of moving images, but those fools do exist. Most of them are liars.

The Hollywood Left is many things but they’re not fools and they fully understand the power of the medium under their control. Certainly, damning everyone who works in the entertainment world would be unfair, but this is also a culture where only a handful of “names” were willing to speak out against the pro-Polanski movement – including many Leftists who have never been shy about speaking out in the past.

The film industry has a history to be proud of when it comes to opposing racism, homophobia and anti-Semitism. Unfortunately, the most vocal from this current crop seem all too ready to tarnish that legacy as they target our children for profit and worse.

Is it too much to ask of the Hollywood Left that they show as much intolerance towards the sexualization of young children as they do towards conservatives and Christians?

That question has already been answered.

American Neocon Gets A Shoe On His Face In Pakistan

American Neocon Gets A Shoe On His Face In Pakistan

A US government propagandist, Clifford D. May, came to Karachi to lecture Pakistani students on how their country should align itself with the US agenda in the region.  A Pakistani nationalist student answered him in a befitting way.

By talkhaaba

Friday, 9 October 2007.

Karachi University student Muhammad Hussain [C] hurled a shoe at Clifford D. May [L], a defender of the US mess in Afghanistan and Pakistan. This is a sample of the shoe size [R] that we recommend for throwing at US officials who come to Pakistan to criticize our nation, our military and our intelligence officers.  British Prime Minister has called Pakistani Pashtuns terrorists. We recommend the same shoe size for him the next time he comes to Islamabad.

KARACHI, Pakistan—Another frustrated but conscientious youth tried to hit an American with shoe.  Luckily or unluckily, the shoe hurled at Clifford D. May , the President of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, a conservative think tank chalking out policy plans for the US administration regarding the so-called war on terror, missed the target.  According the news published today “A Karachi University (KU) student on Thursday threw a shoe at a visiting American journalist, Clifford May, who was to deliver a lecture at the university. Clifford escaped the attack when a student, Muhammad Hussain, from the Imamia Students Organization (ISO), hurled the shoe at him.  The incident occurred during the question-answer session of Mr. Clifford’s lecture on “Pakistan’s Role in Countering Terrorism” at the Department of International Relations at the university.

The Nation reports that the lecture was organized without the permission of the university administration and most of the concerned staffers of the said department had expressed their disaaproval and did not participate in the lecture in protest.

Another largely circulated English daily The News reports that the incident is “the first of its kind in Pakistan”.

Journalist May who is a Republican and was said to be an active member of the party during George W. Bush’s administration, was speaking at the Department of International Relations (IR) on the topic ‘Pakistan’s Role in Countering the Challenge of Terrorism’ when a student of the department threw a shoe on the journalist.

Talking to Aaj news channel Muhammad Hussain told, “He just couldn’t control when the journalist humiliated Pakistanis. “It was the attitude of American Scholar which compel me to hurl shoe at him” Muhammad Hussain told the media and said that when the scholar called Muslims extremist and opted for a humiliating attitude when the students started asking questions regarding Iran” Hussain told that his life has become endanger and the angry American may kill him”

The student is inspired from Muntazer al-Zaidi who threw his 10 no shoe at George W. Bush, the leader of Clifford D. May.  The Muslim youth in Islamic world seems to be inspired from the pioneer of Show throwing, the least which Muslim youth can do when their whole leadership has sold out and is bent upon selling the whole Ummah to the nation which consider it their religious duty to subjugate the Muslims in order to take their revenge of crusades. [ May reference may be cited if demanded]

Who is Clifford?

Clifford D. May is the President of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, a policy institute focusing on terrorism created immediately following the 9/11 attacks on the United States.

He is also the Chairman of the Policy Committee of the Committee on the Present Danger (CPD), an international, non-partisan organization based in Washington D.C. comprised of leading members of the national security community. In 2008, The Daily Telegraph (U.K) named May one the “100 most influential conservatives in America.” That’s means he is responsible for what the American have done with Muslims and Muslim world for the last 10 years.

In 2006 he was appointed an advisor to the Iraq Study Group (Baker-Hamilton Commission) of the United States Institute of Peace, an independent nonpartisan national institution established and funded by Congress. [No need to tell what American did in Iraq]

The significance of Show Throwing

A Turkish student who threw a shoe at International Monetary Fund Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn has explained it one sentence. He said ‘He (Strauss-Kahn) is the representative of global capitalism. I tried to raise my views by protesting against him.”  Similarly George W. Bush, Chadam Baram and Clifford D. May all are the representatives of aggression against free states and are thus devils who have made this world a living hell. The least Muslim youth can do is to tell them you’re not liked here. Thanks to Boston group like intellectuals [don’t forget infamous Hussain Haqqani] who assure the USA that you’re liked or even loved for your actions in Muslim States. Muhammad Hussain Has rightly said that the nation which has destroyed Afghanistan and Iraq and is responsible for killing of Women and children in Gaza and Lebanon has no right to teach us. May be some on like Hussain Haqqani come up with “argument” that it’s difficult to change others but it’s easy to change yourself. Dr Aamir has answer to this Question of Mir Jaffar known as Hussain Haqqani. Pls click here to watch this also.  This article, Why I threw the shoe by Muntazer al-Zaidi defending his action may also be helpful in clearing in the misconception of those who are asking to say yes to every US order.

Obama Caught Eyeing Up A Minor`s Backside

American President Barack Obama cannot resist a pretty girl, which is evident from the photos taken at the G8 summit in Italy, where Obama was caught eyeing up a young girl`s behind.

According to the media, a 16-year-old Brazilian was the object of his admiration, a junior delegate at the summit. Obama took his family to Italy, and wife Michelle clearly did not spot the moment of his weakness.

The Brazilian girl walked past him in a clingy dress and Obama, whose mouth dropped, did not notice his French counterpart Sarkozy observing him with a smile on his face.

Obama has clearly forgotten his position, who could blame him as he spent time with Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, famous for enjoying himself with young and seductive beauties.

The leaders of the wealthiest countries in the world gathered in Italian L`Aquila, which was struck by a series of earthquakes a few months ago. The g8 summit leaders discussed the economic crisis, as well as global warming.

G8 heads agreed that industrialised countries should cut back their greenhouse gas emission by 80 percent by 2050, which is a part of the global goal of decreasing the amount of greenhouse gases by 50 percent in all nations – wealthy and poor.

Palestinians Urged to Defend Al-Aqsa as Israeli Police on Alert

Palestinians Urged to Defend Al-Aqsa as Israeli Police on Alert

Readers Number : 18

09/10/2009 Israeli occupation police tightly restricted access to occupied Jerusalem’s Old City on Friday as Palestinians went on strike in defense of the Al-Aqsa mosque compound following clashes at the flashpoint site sacred to Muslims and Jews.

Several hundred Palestinians who were denied entry to the mosque performed Friday prayers just outside the gates of the Old City under the watchful eye of heavily armed Israeli occupation police.

Israeli occupation security forces set checkpoints around and within the Old City and were seen turning back Palestinians who do not live or work there. However, they were allowing in tourists and Israelis wanting to pray at the Western Wall – also known as the Wailing Wall – just below the mosque compound.

Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas’s secular Fatah party called the strike “to peacefully protest and to proclaim the attachment of the Palestinian people to their holy places and to Jerusalem as the eternal capital of the independent Palestinian state.”

The call comes as the faction and its leader are facing a wave of unprecedented protests over the decision to withdraw support for the UN fact-finding mission’s report into Operation Cast Lead.

The council expressed “deep concern” over Israel’s security measures in occupied Jerusalem following an outburst of violence over the past week. It said Israel was “besieging” the mosque, preventing Muslims from reaching the area and “colluding” with Israeli extremists by enabling them to enter the compound.

The council called on Palestinians to mobilize “in defense” of al-Aqsa Mosque and to launch peaceful demonstrations in protest of Israel’s restrictions.

The Islamic Movement in the occupied territories has also called on its followers to defy Israeli restrictions and show up for Friday prayers.

Israeli police have accused the Islamic Movement of inciting tension and this week briefly detained its leader, Sheikh Raed Salah, whom they said had made “inflammatory statements.”

Salah, who previously spent two years in Israeli prison, has repeatedly called in recent days for Muslims to “defend” Al-Aqsa against the Zionist entity.

Israel has imposed restrictions on access to the mosque compound following a series of clashes that started late last month. Only Muslim residents of occupied east Jerusalem or the occupied territories over the age of 50, with no restrictions for the women, were being allowed to attend Friday prayers.

Palestinian foreign minister Riyad al-Malki called on UN chief Ban Ki-moon Thursday to intervene to prevent Israel from further ratcheting up the tension in occupied Jerusalem.

Malki said he briefed Ban on “Israeli escalation measures against the Palestinians in Jerusalem and the actions the Israelis have been taking in recent days against Al-Aqsa mosque.”

The Fatah call for a general strike is seen by many Palestinians as an attempt to deflect attention from the severe crisis that erupted in the PA following Abbas’s decision to defer consideration of the UN report that claimed that both Israel and Hamas had committed crimes against humanity during the war.

Hatem Abdel Kader, holder of the Jerusalem portfolio in Fatah, warned that Israel’s decision to “isolate” Jerusalem from the West Bank could have serious repercussions. He also warned that preventing Muslims from entering the al-Aqsa Mosque or occupied Jerusalem could lead to “unnecessary friction” with Israeli occupation soldiers and policemen.

Earlier this week, Abdel Kader and Sheikh Raed Salah, head of the Islamic Movement’s northern branch, were ordered by a magistrate’s court to stay away from occupied Jerusalem for one month after being accused of incitement.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Salah refuses to be interviewed by Israeli media outlets, talked to the Arab media saying, “What the Israeli media has done in the past week was an incitement to murder,” Salah said in an interview to the Arab sector’s Arab al-Dahal newspaper, published Friday. According to the sheikh, Israeli political journalists are taking part in the campaign against him.

According to Salah, the incitement against him is a concrete danger. “There are many Jewish murderers walking around, who can commit this murder at any moment,” he said.

He added that after his arrest, a Shin Bet investigator had told him that he would like to see him dead. “He said, ‘If it were in my hands, you know I would terminate your life.’”

The sheikh, an umm al-Fahm resident, said that his city’s residents told him that they had encountered the hostile attitude towards among the occupation security forces at roadblocks. He added that Arab bus drivers were recently threatened by policemen that their licenses would be revoked if they tried to drive Arabs to the al-Aqsa Mosque. “We, on our part, took a critical move when we called to stay inside the al-Aqsa Mosque. There is no way we will allow any Jewish group to enter the site,” he concluded.

“US Furious over Israeli Incitement against Obama”–(just like Pakistan)

[As Zionist plans unravel and their constant boasting and threats begin to cause them trouble, the world will become an even more dangerous place.  The world cannot bear to watch the merciless Israelis pushing their weight around and them flaunting their diplomatic immunity to the world.  They don't yet realize the political costs that they will have to pay for "Cast Iron," new settlements and Goldstone.  There will be hell to pay.]

“US Furious over Israeli Incitement against Obama”

Readers Number : 179

09/10/2009 The U.S. administration is furious over Israeli incitement against President Barack Obama, Democratic congressmen close to Obama told an Israeli source who returned from a visit to Washington this week. The congressmen even hinted that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been personally involved.

The source, who met in Washington with administration officials and members of Congress, told Haaretz he was stunned by the level of anger there over attempts to portray Obama to the American public as an enemy of Israel because of his efforts to restart “peace talks” and freeze settlement construction. “There are people here who are playing with fire by damaging our relationship with the U.S.,” the source said.

Last month’s summit in New York between Obama, Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas also reduced Washington’s expectations of a speedy resumption of final-status talks between Israel and the PA. While U.S. envoy George Mitchell will meet Netanyahu again Friday, the meeting is not expected to resolve the crisis in Israeli-Palestinian arena.

Meanwhile, King Abdullah of Jordan warned Washington recently that Israel’s settlement policy in occupied East Jerusalem is undermining the stability of Israeli-Jordanian relations. He also ordered the Jordanian embassy in the Palestinian occupied territories to submit an official protest to the Foreign Ministry over a plan to build a new Jewish neighborhood on lands belonging to the occupied East Jerusalem village of Walaja.

Finally, he warned against opening the Mughrabi Gate leading to the Aqsa mosque after the Jewish holidays end next week, and against using planned renovations to change the status quo on the site.

A senior official in Amman told Haaretz this week that the clashes between the Israeli occupation and the Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem are causing unrest throughout Jordan and encouraging extremists. During Israel’s aggression in Gaza this January, he said, there were no fewer than 600 anti-Israel demonstrations in Jordan.

MQM killed 650+ Sind Police Officers?

MQM killed 650+ Sind Police Officers?

By Dr Shahid Qureshi
Wednesday 07 October 2009

Few years ago I asked Shoib Shuddle former of Director General of Intelligence Bureau and Inspector General Police at a reception in London, ‘what is your input about the cold blooded targeted killings of Sindh Police officers who took part in the ‘operation’ ordered by Benazir Bhutto’ in 1995. He acknowledged the fact that there was a problem. Though police in Pakistan is known for its brutality but it is also true it is under resourced and ill trained but they are still managing?

MQM is a mercenary group whose HQ is in London and possibility of its leader to go to Pakistan is Zero? It exaggerate everything no doubt death one person is too many but their claim that 25000 MQM workers disappeared is the extreme. Where is the list of those 25000 people and where are they buried? MQM is in power for the past 10 years consecutively why did they not investigate these killings? Why Altaf Hussain never thought of asking for a judicial enquiry into the Karachi Operation in 1992?

The South Africa branch of MQM and its activities are very suspicious especially the Nishtar Park – Karachi terrorist incident when whole leadership of Sunni Tehreek was eliminated. According reliable sources that to those who examined and conducted post-mortems of the bodies found bullet marks and some of them were shot in head. It seems that cause of death was bullets then shrapnel’s of bomb explosion? According to a source that people who were involved in this terror might have been provided safe passage to South Africa? It is reported that the whole operation was monitored by a MQM leader from a minority group? It seems a case of targeted killings. Only a high powered judicial investigation into this act can expose the crime.

It is alarming that MQM members have been issued arms licences in thousands and Rehman Malik interior minister allegedly issued approximately 2000 permits of AK47. Some members of MQM recently absconded from (apart from being on ECL) Pakistan and came to London were allegedly involved in arms trafficking from Baluchistan.

Late Benzair Bhutto “condemned the killings of 650 police officers and said, my thoughts are with families of those killed in the line of duty.

I asked late Benazir Bhutto at dinner in London few years ago to comment on the targeted killings on reportedly more then 650 police officers in Karachi. Most of them killed had taken part in the Karachi Operation conducted by the PPP government. Ms Bhutto, “condemned the killings of police officers and said, my thoughts are with families of those killed in the line of duty. She demanded that (Musharaf) government should brought killer/ terrorists to justice and protects the men doing their job and following orders”. Some people say that MQM is more dangerous then any terrorist organisation’.

After September 11, the United States identified even more with the MQM as it was the only party in Pakistan that widely mourned the attacks on the US, openly condemned the Taliban and al-Qaeda, and launched a powerful campaign in support of the US attack on Afghanistan. MQM has been the only party to support the military’s intervention in the tribal areas.

Asia Times Online reported, ‘sources say that, ‘only US diplomatic intervention stopped Musharaf from taking strong action against the MQM after he received the report on the recent unrest in which the MQM was implicated. Washington indeed has a powerful southern ally (MQM) in Pakistan’.

It is time for the government of Pakistan to approach its friends and allies to have a clear cut answers about the real Agenda in Pakistan? Crimes of Altaf Hussain and his party MQM are so heinous that he couldn’t dare going back to Karachi even the whole period of Musharaf and now Zardari rule?

Until November 1998 Government of Pakistan was reportedly seeking extradition of Altaf Hussain was wanted in 50 murders and 150 cases of kidnapping and arson. Altaf Hussain, a trained pharmacist who has been living in England since 1992. ‘If extradited to Pakistan he will be killed’, said Altaf Hussain in an interview with a newspaper in 1998. “It is my wish that they take me to trial in a British court,” said Mr Hussain. “Then I will tell people nationally and internationally what has been happening in Pakistan.”

Pakistan seems land of the holy men where people are forgiving each other for breaking all laws corruption, extortion, murders, kidnapping and anti state activities including violation of the constitution. Why and how can individuals do that? A senior journalist said, ‘President (Asif Zardari) and Prime Ministers (Yousaf Gillaini) House is subcontracted to Richard Holbrok, Raiwind Palace (Nawaz Sharif) is to Mark Lyal Grant and David Milliband. Altaf Hussain is already a British Citizen an asset whom so social services can handle? This is how a country of 180 million, a nuclear power perceived internationally?

Altaf Hussain woke up recently and started weeping as if he never knew anything for the past years about the Karachi operation conducted during Nawaz Sharif’s premiership? He is woken by the statement of an allegedly corrupt foreign mole Brigadier Imtiaz former head of the Intelligence Bureau who might have lot to answer for the deaths of two Chiefs of Army Staffs General Ziaul Haq and General Asif Nawaz? He allegedly lured General Zia ul Haq to attend that Tank demonstration in Bahawalpur while his friend Major General Mahmood Ali Durani planted the toxic mango crates?

In reality this awakening is linked with the judicial enquiry into the killings of 12th May 2007 and brutal murders of judiciary activist? This is brining sleepless nights? What happened to Major Kaleem of the Pakistan army is still an open file as well as the systematic targeted killings of more than 670 police officers who took part in operations against MQM? This is what making Altaf Hussain do live telephonic speeches otherwise there are many daily flights to Karachi and being a dual citizen he has no restrictions?

A senior London based analyst wrote in a Journal recently, “It is no coincidence that Asif Zardari- PPP swore in two MQM Ministers in the federal cabinet the day the party submitted its draft for 18th Amendment (provincial autonomy) to the Constitution. The dissolution of the federation and creation of a Mohajiristan in Sindh is the ultimate objective of the proposed amendment. The two parties represent hostile Indo-US interests; they want to weaken federal authority and incorporate right of secession in the constitution to facilitate the break-up of Pakistan. The PPP has indeed been a symbol of federal unity until AZ took over. Now it is an instrument of the policies of the enemies of Pakistan.”

“Dr. Farooq Sattar is the one who drafted this bill with mala fide motive in order to make proper political arrangement in the long run for the formation of an Urdu speaking state known as REPUBLIC OF JINNAHPUR as proposed by one MQM Activist – Syed Jamaluddin – based in Europe. Syed Jamaluddin has proposed in his said book that Jinnahpur shall come into being exactly in the same manner as KOSOVO few years ago. Please note that Kosovo was an autonomous province of Serbia. Hence, if MQM´s Provincial Autonomy Bill is approved (God forbid), one day the MQM shall declare independence of Republic of Jinnahpur through a vote in the Sindh Assembly exactly in the same manner as the Kosovo Assembly in February 2008.
Dr. Farooq Sattar has been appointed the Minister for Overseas Pakistanis to pursue MQM’s agenda of bringing foreign investment into Karachi which will be portrayed as DUBAI and SINGAPORE of the future as outlined in the same book “FORMATION OF REPUBLIC OF JINNAHPUR” by MQM Activist SYED JAMALUDDIN. The script of the book was approved by the MQM leaders in London prior to its publication as part of MQM´s policy to blackmail Pakistan’s establishment including the Pakistan Army.
In TV interviews, representatives of MQM have darkly warned that unless their Bill for Provincial Autonomy is passed, Pakistan’s disintegration shall remain on the cards. This is indeed an open threat. (See http://www.dividepakistan.blogspot.com for the web site of the Indian agent and MQM spokesman Syed Jamauddin.)”

MQM has crossed the lines of terror, corruption and extortion. All political prisoners should be released on merit not used as blackmail?

After Goldstone, Hamas faces fateful choice

[The Palestinians in West Bank and Gaza should employ the greatest weapon in their arsenal and call a general strike, put-down their wood-workers and waiters implements, and everyone walk toward the Erez Crossing.]

Ali Abunimah, The Electronic Intifada, 8 October 2009

The political collapse underway has put Hamas, including Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh, in a bind. (Wissam Nassar/MaanImages)

The uproar over the Palestinian Authority’s (PA) collaboration with Israel to bury the Goldstone report, calling for trials of Israeli leaders for war crimes in Gaza, is a political earthquake. The whole political order in place since the 1993 Oslo accords were signed is crumbling. As the initial tremors begin to fade, the same old political structures may appear still to be in place, but they are hollowed out. This unprecedented crisis threatens to topple the US-backed PA leader Mahmoud Abbas, but it also leaves Hamas, the main Palestinian resistance faction, struggling with fateful choices.

Abbas, accustomed to being surrounded by corrupt cronies, sycophants and yes-men, badly misjudged the impact of his decision — under Israeli and American instructions — to withdraw PA support for the resolution at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, forwarding the Goldstone report for further action. After all, the PA had actively sabotaged measures supporting Palestinian rights at the UN on at least two occasions in recent years without much reaction.

This time, torrents of protest and outrage flowed from almost every direction. It was as if all the suppressed anger and grief about PA collaboration with Israel during the massacres in Gaza last winter suddenly burst through a dam. “The crime at Geneva cannot pass without all those responsible being held accountable,” the widely-read London-based Al-Quds Al-Arabi stated in its lead editorial on 8 October. The newspaper called for the removal of Abbas and his associates who betrayed the victims of Israel’s massacres and “saved Israel from the most serious moral, political and legal crisis it has faced since its establishment.”

Naming collaboration — even treason — for what it is has always been a painful taboo among Palestinians, as for all occupied peoples. It took the French decades after World War II to begin to speak openly about the extent of collaboration that took place with the Nazi-backed Vichy government. Abbas and his militias — who for a long time have been armed and trained by Israel, the United States and so-called “moderate” Arab states to wage war against the Palestinian resistance — have relied on this taboo to carry out their activities with increasing brazenness and brutality. But the taboo no longer affords protection, as calls for Abbas’ removal and even trial issued from Palestinian organizations all over the world.

Hamas too seems to have been taken by surprise at the strength of reaction. Hamas leaders were critical of Abbas’ withdrawal of the Goldstone resolution, but initially this was notably muted. Early on, Khaled Meshal, the movement’s overall leader, insisted that despite the Goldstone fiasco, Hamas would proceed with Egyptian-mediated reconciliation talks with Fatah and smaller factions scheduled for later in the month, stating that reaching a power-sharing deal remained a “national interest.”

As the tremors continued, however, Hamas leaders escalated their rhetoric — seemingly following, not leading, public opinion. Mahmoud Zahar, a prominent Hamas leader in the Gaza Strip, labeled Abbas a “traitor” and urged that he be stripped of his Palestinian nationality. Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh, speaking before a hastily convened session of the Palestinian Legislative Council, said Abbas was personally responsible for the “crime” committed in Geneva, and a senior officer from the Hamas-controlled Gaza police force held a press conference to announce that Abbas and his associates would be subject to arrest if they set foot in Gaza.

All of this puts Hamas in a bind. Before the Goldstone report crisis, Hamas had signaled that it accepted the most recent Egyptian proposals for reconciliation. The Egyptian position paper can be described as technocratic — it deals with mechanisms for elections, release of prisoners, the formation of committees and other matters. It does not resolve core political and philosophical differences over the role of resistance and armed struggle, which Abbas rejects and Hamas defends. Nor does it deal with the problem of PA “security coordination” with Israel which has resulted in the killing and arrest by the PA of numerous Palestinian resistance fighters and the closure of hundreds of Palestinian organizations and charities.

Despite the remaining gulf, Hamas wanted to sign a unity deal. Being part of a Western-recognized PA would be Hamas’ ticket to the “peace process” — something Meshal has made no secret that Hamas seeks, although on its own terms. Abbas was less keen on a unity deal, as he and his cronies still resist dealing with Hamas as a political force that has popular legitimacy. But after Goldstone, Abbas needs Hamas.

Hamas now cannot have it both ways: it cannot talk about “unity” and “reconciliation” with people that it — and many Palestinians — view as “traitors.” To seek unity with such people is in effect to say that Hamas wishes to join a government of traitors. For the moment, Hamas is buying time and has asked Egypt to postpone the scheduled Cairo meeting later this month.

Hamas’ long-term strategy of trying to join the slowly crumbling edifice of the Palestinian Authority now makes no sense. It now seems more likely that the deal will not go ahead, although Hamas is maneuvering to avoid blame, and to maintain its lifeline to Egypt, which backs Fatah. Perhaps the more likely outcome, at least in the short term, is a continued stalemate, where Abbas, now entirely dependent on Israeli and American forces to remain in power, limps on even though he has no legitimacy or credibility, and is widely despised.

The more difficult question for Hamas will be, what comes next? Will it try to muddle through as it has, or will it rally the Palestinian public to oppose and resist Abbas until the collaborationist PA is dissolved? This would be an enormous strategic shift — Hamas would likely have to drop the trappings of “government” it has taken up since it won the 2006 legislative elections and return to its roots as a social movement and a clandestine organization.

It will not have much time to decide where it is going. The hopes raised by the Obama Administration’s initial foray into peacemaking have been dashed in the wake of Obama’s surrender to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over settlements, even though US Middle East envoy George Mitchell continues with utterly sterile “diplomacy” aimed at bringing the rejectionist Israeli government face to face in “negotiations” with the political corpse of Abbas. As Israel accelerates its colonization of the West Bank and its ethnic cleansing of Jerusalem, there is increasing talk of a new intifada.

The political collapse underway offers all Palestinians — including Hamas — a new opportunity: to build a broad-based, internationally legitimate popular resistance movement that mobilizes all of Palestinian society as the first intifada did, and to reconnect with Palestinians inside Israel who face an existential threat from escalating Israeli racism. This movement must work with and enhance the global solidarity campaign to put maximum pressure on Israel — and its collaborators — to end their repression, racism and violence, and hasten the emancipation of all the people of Palestine.

Qaddafi vexes US in forcing UN to take up Gaza report

UN Security Council will hear Qaddafi’s demand that it take action on the Gaza report, which alleges Israeli crimes during last winter’s war.

By Howard LaFranchi | Staff writer of The Christian Science Monitor

Washington – Libya called a special closed-door session of the United Nations Security Council Wednesday afternoon to demand action on a UN report that criticizes Israel for committing “war crimes” during its December-January offensive into Gaza.

By bringing the report to the Security Council – a body Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi just last month said was more accurately called the “terror council” – Libya sets up a clash with the United States. He also creates a golden opportunity for Libya to raise its diplomatic star in the developing world, and for Colonel Qaddafi to refurbish his image with the Arab world.

“Libya will only be on the Security Council through December, so this was an opportunity [Libya and Qaddafi] would be loath to miss,” says Melissa Labonte, an expert on Libya at Fordham University in New York. “If the P-5 [the council's five permanent members] say, ‘We aren’t talking about this,’ it allows Qaddafi to say, ‘This is what I meant by a terror council.’ But if they do take it up,” she adds, “what a coup for Qaddafi.”

The US has sought to put off the impact of the report, first aired last month at the UN’s Human Rights Council in Geneva, in the interest of keeping open the door to a resumption of Israeli-Palestinian peace talks. But that door is closed at least temporarily anyway, and instead the US finds one of its partners in any future peace effort – Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas – under pressure at home for bowing to the US and sitting on the Gaza report.

The 575-page Goldstone report – named for the South African jurist, Richard Goldstone, who authored it – finds that both Israel and Hamas committed “war crimes” in the course of the month-long war. But it is mainly critical of Israeli actions and suggests the possibility of taking Israeli officials responsible for the alleged crimes to the International Criminal Court in The Hague.

The UN Human Rights Council considered condemning Israel for failing to cooperate with the Goldstone inquiry and sending the report to the Security Council. But at the same time, the Palestinian leadership was in intense negotiations with the US on restarting the peace talks, with President Obama hoping to announce their resumption at the UN during the General Assembly in September.

The Palestinians say they bowed to a request from the US, the European Union, and Russia to postpone any Human Rights Council action on the report until March.

The US expressed misgivings about the report soon after it came out, with the US ambassador to the UN, Susan Rice, saying the US had “very serious concerns” about some of its recommendations.

At the time Ambassador Rice called the report’s mandate as established by the Human Rights Council “unbalanced, one-sided, and basically unacceptable.” The “appropriate venue” for a report like the Goldstone investigation, she added, was in the Human Rights Council and not the Security Council – perhaps presaging a US effort at Wednesday’s meeting to deny any Security Council consideration of the report.

But the Goldstone report poses a minefield for the US, regional experts say.

“The US has to be very careful about this,” says Fordham’s Professor Labonte. “The US will look bad in regions of keen interest to it if it comes off as obstructive on a human rights issue airing in the Security Council.

“On the other hand, [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu has said the peace process will go nowhere if this report is acted on,” she adds, “so all the options pose real problems.”

The fresh attention to the Goldstone report is also likely to rekindle criticism of the UN’s Human Rights Council, particularly among US conservatives. The Bush administration kept the US out of the council on grounds that it focused too much on Israel while overlooking horrendous violations of some of the world’s worst despots and authoritarian regimes.

President Obama said the US had a better chance of defending universal human rights working from the inside of international institutions and returned the US to the council.

OSLO : US President Barack Obama sensationally won the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday less than a year after he took office with the jury hailing his “extraordinary” diplomatic efforts on the international stage.

“Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world’s attention and given its people hope for a better future,” the Nobel jury said in making the stunning announcement.

It said the decision was unanimous.

Zionist Congressmen Outraged Over Pakistani Resistance to US Control

‘US military hardware not reserved for Pakistan’

WASHINGTON: US military hardware is not reserved for Pakistan and can be given to other countries in South Asia as well, warns a powerful American lawmaker Gary Ackerman.

Ackerman, who heads the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Middle East and South Asia, was riled by Pakistan’s reaction to the Kerry-Lugar bill, calling it an indication that the Pakistanis did not want friendship with the United States.

‘If Pakistan doesn’t want us as a partner, that’s up to them,’ said Ackerman in a statement distributed by his office. ‘But should they take such a decision, they should do so knowing full well that our military assistance, advanced technology and intelligence cooperation are not gifts, but the specific consequences of our cooperation.

‘They should likewise, be aware that these things are not reserved for them and that American interests in South Asia are not limited to just Pakistan. We don’t sell F-16s and Harpoon missiles to just anyone.’

Speaking at the Council on Foreign Relations on Wednesday, Foreign Minister Mehmood Shah Qureshi tried to portray a widespread Pakistani perspective before an audience of US scholars and policy-makers.

He said that Pakistan’s current predicament was shaped by past cooperation with the US in the covert war against the Soviets in Afghanistan.

Pakistan ended up sheltering millions of Afghan refugees and still had three million Afghan refugees, Qureshi said.

It also has suffered blowback in the form of a growing internal jihadi threat. And Pakistanis perceive that they were abandoned by the US after the Soviets withdrew from Afghanistan, Qureshi said.

But so far no effort has been made, either by the Pakistani embassy or visiting Pakistani officials, to explain the Pakistani reaction to the Americans.

Instead, embassy officials spend most of their time warning Pakistanis that if they continued this ‘unreasonable and illogical’ attitude ‘they may end up losing America’s friendship.’

In the absence of a proper explanation, most US officials and lawmakers continued to be perplexed by the Pakistani reaction to a bill they see as a ‘great friendly gesture from the US for Pakistan and its people,’ as Senator John Kerry, one of the co-sponsors of the bill said.

‘Shell-shocked,’ said a senior member of Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s delegation that held talks with US officials in Washington this week when asked to describe the US response to the Pakistani reaction.
