[Many of us have been naive enough to believe that Putin would resist the Imperial elimination of Syria with anything riskier than a rare UN veto, or harsh words in the press. His chance to block the American plan for world conquest has come and gone, with humanity now facing far worse odds, as a result. Putin, evidently, is only in this for self gain, with nothing more than faux concern for the fate of Russians in this Imperial scheme. When the time comes that Russia can no longer get by by riding on the coattails of Gazprom, even harder times will come home to roost with a vengeance. Judging from the fate of all previous allies or "friends" of America, neither Russia, nor any other state is included in the final big payoff. Putin is fooling himself (like they all do), thinking that there there will be a place in the plan for him.]

Ships of Russian Navy’s interfleet task force are currently approaching Italian island Sardinia, reports Radio Mayak referring to Russian defense ministry’s press service.
“Equipment and armament operate normally, crews act in accordance with cruise schedule. The task force recently held an exercise in the central part of the Mediterranean Sea”, comments a defense ministry’s spokesman. “The exercise was aimed at repelling of surprise air strike and terror attack upon the formation”, he specified.
The task force consists of Northern Fleet landing ships Alexander Otrakovsky, Georgy Pobedonosets, Kondopoga, and Baltic Fleet frigates Yaroslav Mudry and Neustrashimy.
According to the representative of Russian defense ministry, in Wednesday morning the ships were located to the southwest from Italian island Sardinia, reports RIA Novosti.
Russian Warships Hold Drills in Mediterranean
A Russian joint naval task force on a training mission in the Mediterranean has conducted two-day tactical exercises with live-firing drills, the Defense Ministry said.
The task force comprises three large amphibious assault ships, two Neustrashimy class frigates, an Udaloy class destroyer and two support ships from Russia’s Northern, Baltic and Black Sea Fleets.
“In the past two days the task force held tactical exercises which included firing drills involving on-board artillery and missile systems,” the ministry said on Friday.
The warships will head to the Russian naval base of Novorossiisk after additional training in the central part of the Mediterranean later this month.
Contrary to media reports, the task force will not call at the Russian supply and maintenance facility at the Syrian port of Tartus.
