Groups Seeking to Carry out Assassinations in Lebanon Backed by Major Intelligence Agencies

The sides that are seeking to carry out assassinations in Lebanon are too powerful to be thwarted by the local authorities, revealed security circles to al-Joumhouria newspaper on Thursday.

They said that these groups “are backed by major intelligence agencies that have dedicated billions of dollars for them.”

Theses sides are keen on carrying out their attack during the peak of the sectarian tensions in Lebanon and the region, they added.

They voiced their conviction that these groups are planning to execute a series of assassinations and Lebanon and the region.

They noted however that the fears over the assassinations rises and decreases with the various religious tensions in the region, most notably those fueled by television programs and the media.

“They have since been stoked by the news of various massacres that have been committed by the Syrian army in Syria,” said the security circles.

These news have been exploited by various powers on the ground to fuel the tensions even further as demonstrated by the recent clashes in the northern city of Tripoli, they explained.

The clashes erupted on Saturday in light of the arrest of Islamist Shadi al-Mawlawi.

The development sparked clashes between the rival neighborhoods of Sunni Bab al-Tabbaneh and Alawite Jabal Mohsen, which have killed at least nine people and wounded 50.

Other reports have spoken of an intention to end the stability in Lebanon and once again turn it into an open ground for regional conflicts, the security circles told al-Joumhouria.

Such a plan is aimed at “passing the time in light of the ongoing negotiations between regional and international powers, which have also placed the Syrian crisis on the negotiating table,” stated the circles.

Speaker Nabih Berri confirmed on Wednesday a list of politicians and figures targeted by extremist groups, describing the threat as serious and dangerous.

According to NBN, he called on security agencies to follow up the issue.

Meanwhile, a prominent security source denied the existence of such a list, while a high-ranking source from a major security agency confirmed the threats.

“These are various serious threats and they target Lebanese figures from the March 8 and 14 camps,” he told al-Mustaqbal daily in remarks published on Thursday.

“Terrorism does not have an identity, religion, or affiliations as it can reach all sides,” he stated.

“The information on the threats is a culmination of major efforts by Lebanese and international intelligence,” he added.

Local newspapers reported on Wednesday that international countries warned Lebanese officials that a terrorist group – linked to an extremist organization, has infiltrated the country recently to carry out “sabotage” operations.

According to As Safir newspaper, the information coincided with similar data obtained by Lebanese security agencies.

Speaker Nabih Berri and several other senior Lebanese officials might be the target of a security threat by the terrorist group.

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea escaped an assassination attempt on April 4.

In January, security agencies urged Berri and Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat to take precautions as they might be the target of an assassination plot.

On Tuesday, al-Joumhouria newspaper reported that the security agencies succeeded in the past few days in uncovering a terrorist network with local, Arab, and European links.

It said that the confessions of one of the detainees led to the arrest of al-Mawlawi.

U.S. trump card in the Afghan endgame

9 01 2012

[US strategy is centered upon reintroducing  Taliban to their former environments, who have been held at places like Guantanamo, where they have been subjected to the most extreme reconditioning processes imaginable.  At Guantanamo, they are broken-down physically and psychologically in those one-meter by two-meter cells, so that they are made to be agreeable to the plans that CIA/ NATO have made for them.  This is how people like Abdullah Mehsud and others just like him were turned into human weapons of mass destruction and deployed into areas deemed to be ripe for a militant Islamist revolution, such as Wana, S. Waziristan, or the vital Kurrum/Khyber agencies.  In places where there are relatively large settlements of Shia or other religious minorities, open sectarian warfare is made more likely by the introduction of these Westernized agents who brutally dispense their false "Shariah Law," with predictable results.

The easy part of this tricky strategy is the willingness of the militant communities to receive old repatriated allies.  Maybe it is a Taliban gesture of scorn, seen as mocking the West's potent mind-conditioning capabilities--Something like, the power of their false "Islam" can easily overcome Western mind-sciences and brutal torture.  If this is the case, then Taliban need to be more suspicious of Western interactions.

It is to be expected that release of Taliban prisoners who had been taken captive in Northern Alliance territory would be America's first choice, since the new game in Afghanistan will mean return to the same old game, Afghan civil war.  Once again, Western-oriented Taliban will wage war against Eastern-oriented anti-Taliban, a.k.a., "Northern Alliance."

If Fazl formerly had great influence with Juma Namangani and the IMU (which have always responded to Western cash), then he might prove to be instrumental in driving militant Afghans and formerly displaced Uzbeks and Tajiks northward, toward the Central Asian prize.  Since the American military penetration of CA relies upon elevated fears of Afghan Islamists, then it will prove to be instrumental in the war after Afghanistan.  That is the vital fact which no analyst should overlook, American plans for perpetual/"persistent war."

It is unlikely that Fazl can provide much influence upon any "Spring" movement in CA, since there has been no careful planting of the seeds of Wahabbism in this area, to create fertile ground for the kind of psychological "fertilizer" (bull shit) that America's Islamist spread.  The fear of Afghan militants is highly overrated, since most of them will be tied-down for years trying to defeat a rearmed Northern Alliance and to reclaim their former government.

It is doubtful that release of brainwashed Taliban prisoners will prove to be any kind of Trump Card, but it is classic "Obama," clever, but not brilliant.]

U.S. trump card in the Afghan endgame

M. K. BHADRAKUMAR

“Through sustained diplomatic efforts, Washington has gained acceptance of the idea that durable peace in Afghanistan can be reached only through an inclusive settlement involving the reconciliation of the Taliban.” In this Dec. 28, 2011 photo, former Taliban militants walk to hand over their weapons during a joining ceremony with the Afghan government in Herat, Afghanistan. The Obama administration is considering the transfer of Mullah Mohammed Fazl, big-time Taliban and one of Mullah Omar’s closest allies detained at the Guantanamo Bay, to Afghan custody.

The Afghan endgame has got off to an exciting start. The great reconciliation with the Taliban is all set to begin. Through sustained diplomatic efforts, Washington has gained acceptance — in the domestic opinion in the United States as well as internationally — of the idea that durable peace in Afghanistan can be reached only through an inclusive settlement involving the reconciliation of the Taliban. No one today (including the visceral critics of the Taliban in the Indian establishment) would demur about the idea of reconciling the Taliban that seemed so bizarre as recently as in January 2010, when it was first introduced at the London peace conference. In fact, no Indian official any longer quibbles over the subtle difference between ‘reintegration’ and ‘reconciliation’ in the diplomatic idiom.

‘TALIBAN NOT OUR ENEMY’

At any rate, it is crystal clear that the Obama administration intends to press ahead with the idea — and even speed up its realisation — no matter what others think about it. If Vice-President Joseph Biden is to be taken on his word, Washington has unceremoniously dumped the pre-conditions it underlined at the London conference. To quote Mr. Biden, the Taliban “per se is not our [U.S.'] enemy.” Clearly, the strategic ambiguity over the ultimate destiny of the Taliban in mainstream Afghan political life has been conclusively cleared and the U.S. is open about its willingness — nay, keenness — to accommodate the Taliban in the power structure. So, the tantalising part of the U.S. strategy now narrows down to the ‘great game.’ Put differently, what the U.S.’ ‘hidden agenda’ could be with regard to the western military presence in the region beyond 2014, which is the timeline set for the drawdown of the U.S. troops in Afghanistan. Here, too, the strategic ambiguity is being incrementally removed with a steady, calibrated spate of statements coyly suggesting Washington’s determination to retain a permanent military presence, including combat troops, for itself and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. What 2012 will unfold is the high drama of bringing the Taliban in from the cold and getting it to accept the idea of a long-term U.S. military presence in Afghanistan, which it has so far opposed.

This is where Qatar comes in. The Obama administration places trust in the skill Qatar displayed in Libya (and, to an extent, in Egypt) in finessing seemingly intractable Islamist groups by making them susceptible to the way of all flesh. The western accounts claim Qatar spent $450 million on Libya. Thanks to the charming Qatari ally, the U.S. has been able to catapult itself to the ‘right side of history’ in the Middle East alongside the Islamists on the surge. The Obama administration is optimistic about bringing the Taliban to Doha and exposing it to the magical Qatari ways of relaxing even Islamists with a stubbornly religious outlook. There could be other countries in the region such as Turkey or Saudi Arabia that may be ‘Islamic’ but they do not possess the special skills that Qatar seems to have. All said, therefore, it stands to reason that the head of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence, Ahmed Shuja Pasha, travelled to Doha recently to make an on-the-spot assessment of the prospects of Qatar doing a ‘Libya’ on the Taliban.

Thus, in the run-up to the New Year, the Obama administration began signalling that it was raring to go. Carefully planted media ‘leaks’ began to appear, speculating on the appreciable progress of the U.S.’ initial contacts with the Taliban so far and underscoring the high efficacy of buttressing the positive impulses of this sub-soil intercourse with some open display of confidence-building measures (CBMs), aimed at enticing the Taliban leaders to sit across the table with American officials in a formal setting in Qatar. Thanks to the latest ‘leak’ on New Year’s Eve, we now know that the Obama administration is considering the transfer to Afghan custody a senior Taliban official, Mullah Mohammed Fazl, detained at the Guantanamo Bay. The ‘leak’ maintains that his release (transfer to Qatar) is by way of acceding to a request by the Kabul set-up. Now, Fazl is big-time Taliban — actually, one of the most experienced Taliban commanders and one of Mullah Omar’s closest associates right from the infancy of the movement in the early 1990s. He went on to serve as deputy defence minister and chief of the Afghan militia.

FAZL’S ‘HOMECOMING’

Conceivably, nothing would convince Omar of American goodwill more than Fazl’s ‘homecoming’. But herein hangs a tale. Fazl also happens to be linked to some of the bloodiest pages in the Taliban saga. According to reports reaching Tashkent, when the Taliban under the ISI’s astute guidance and backing moved into the Amu Darya region, thousands of Shi’ite Hazaras, including women and children, were killed in ethnic cleansing in the August-September of 1998 and left to rot on the streets of Mazar-i-Sharif to be eaten by wild dogs. Reliable accounts put the figure at over 5000 killed. Indeed, Fazl (and Taliban governor of Mazar-i-Sharif, Mullah Manon Niazi if he is alive) would have a great deal to explain as war criminal — as also his role in the execution of eight Iranian diplomats who were assigned to northern Afghanistan.

Again, Fazl resurfaced in a pivotal role in strange circumstances during the surrender of the Taliban in Kunduz and Mazar-i-Sharif in November 2001. Most certainly, he mediated between the U.S. Special Forces and the al-Qaeda’s ‘foreign fighters’ who were taken prisoner in Kunduz. The then leader of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan, Juma Namangani, was an associate of Fazl. Fazl was a key figure in the execution of the grand design of the Taliban and the al-Qaeda (and its affiliates such as IMU) toward Central Asia and Russia’s North Caucasus region. At the very least, he was Mullah Omar’s ‘point person’ at the operational level with the al-Qaeda, and he probably had one foot inside the al-Qaeda camp. Suffice to say, Fazl is not exactly the human face of political Islam in Afghanistan.

However, the Obama administration will be resorting to a masterstroke if it brings Fazl out from his 2×1 metre underground cell in Guantanamo Bay where he has been interned for a decade. Mr. Pasha’s visit to Qatar to confer with the U.S. Central Command officials suggests that the ISI would like to take a rain check. After all, Fazl was a darling of the ISI and his ‘homecoming’ ought to be a delightful event. Conceivably, it can even be transformed as Washington’s ‘olive branch’ to Rawalpindi. Fazl is today America’s man too, after the intense bonding in Guantanamo Bay. But there is uncertainty when someone like Fazl is introduced into the game at extra time. For instance, the Haqqani clan may not easily give way to him. Of course, all this is predicated on Qatar ensuring that Fazl’s metamorphosis as a reasonable Islamist politician is complete.

TERRIFIC EQUATION WITH THE ISI

What is the game plan? First and foremost, Fazl does have the credentials to bring Mullah Omar on board for launching formal peace talks. Rather, the initial contacts between the U.S. and the Taliban can be expected to move on to a qualitatively new level if he is around. Second, Fazl is a familiar face to the Taliban militia and it would be inclined to emulate his farewell to arms. Third, he is one of the finest products of Pakistan’s madrassas and he enjoyed terrific equations with the ISI. (Declassified U.S. State Department documents cite him as a key figure in the Taliban’s capture of Kabul in 1996.) His bonding with the Islamist forces in Pakistan and the ISI can be useful channels of communication to persuade Islamabad to cooperate with the U.S.-led peace talks or, at the very least, refrain from undercutting. Fourth, Fazl evokes hostile sentiments from the Hazaras but not so much from the Tajiks (Ahmed Shah Massoud negotiated prisoner exchanges with him) or the Uzbekis (he worked with the U.S. Special Forces in November 2001 while in Rashid Dostum’s custody in Qala-i-Jangi.) Fazl’s appearance can throw the erstwhile Northern Alliance groups into disarray.

But Fazl is a trump card for the U.S. on two other templates. One, he is an antidote to Iran’s influence in Afghanistan and can create imbalance in the delicate Iran-Pakistan equations. Tehran cannot easily forgive him for his war crimes. Two, Fazl used to be the Taliban’s interface with the Jihadi Internationale and he is just the partner Washington might need in the great game if the ‘Arab Spring’ were to appear in Central Asia holding prospects of regime change and the rise of ‘Islamic democracies’ in the steppes. Of course, Fazl can always be counted upon to persuade the Taliban not to make such a terrible issue of the U.S. plans to establish military bases in Afghanistan.

News Central Asia Is Back Online (nCa Returns — Starting where we left)

29 12 2011

[Happy to report that our good friends in Central Asia have recovered from that devastating hack attack.  nCa is back online, ready to kick some more investigative ass!  I am glad that you are with us, Tariq.]

nCa Returns — Starting where we left

Thursday, 29 December 2011

Tariq Saeedi

We were hacked in late July 2011. It was a thorough job, done by professionals. Now we are back.

Thanks to all the supporters and well wishers.

At the time of hacking we were in the process of starting an investigative-analytic series ‘Smashing Greater Central Asia.’ To provide background information for this series, we posted some of our archive material consisting of investigative reports done by us during the past ten years. It was the archive material that alarmed Uncle Sam and we are happy that our Indian friends got the opportunity to make some money.

Smashing Greater Central Asia actually started soon after hacking. For this I am grateful to my friend Peter Chamberlin, who has already written and published THREE parts of the series at his hugely popular blog http://therearenosunglasses.wordpress.com/

Peter is a complete team in himself: Sharp mind; tremendous analytical skills; ability to grasp the whole picture any time and every time; endless reserves of energy to pursue a point to its logical conclusion; unlimited memory to recall facts and incidents and the rare gift to connect the dots in the right order.

Peter will remain in the pilot seat for Greater Central Asia series. I will contribute whatever I can.

This will be an open-end series because the Evil Empire is writhing like a mortally wounded cobra and things are changing by the day.

Thanks once again to all.

Moscow Protests and Occupy Wall St. Are Twin Instruments of Destabilization

28 12 2011

[Putin complains that the new opposition is leaderless, without the ability to formulate one coherent complaint against him and the system.  With this description, he could have been talking about the American "Occupy Wall St." movement.  The Occupy movement and the anti-Putin movement are twins, fake grass roots movements, generated by the same American sponsors.  Occupy and its twin may be nearly identical in composition, but they have diametrically opposed goals--Occupy is intended as an American pressure relief valve, to confuse any real grass roots "praire fire" from sweeping Obama and friends from power; the leaderless Moscow protests are attempting the impossible, to organize around all issues, hoping that one of them will truly light the fuse and destroy Putin in the process.

The CIA has, over the years, perfected its formula for social agitation and behavioral control.  Real control of activist populations is a powerful instrument for change, sowing destabilized populations wherever this weaponized political process is deployed.   This weaponized form of democratic-revolution is being used in Moscow to destroy the one man who can pull Russia through the time of testing that we have been forced into.  Both Eastern and Western movements are also identical to the "Arab Spring" movements, only in the case of the Middle East and North Africa, Washington's "Islamists" are the pawns, the agitators deployed by the State Dept. to stir the boiling broth.

If the world manages to survive the forces that the CIA has unleashed, the end result will be an entire world organized against the perpetrator of all the trouble and chaos.  Only God knows what will happen after that.]

Russian protesters seeking to sow chaos: Putin

Reuters

MOSCOW: Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday that mass protests against his 12-year rule were being stoked by a hollow collection of leaderless opposition groups who wanted to sow chaos in Russia.

In his first comments since Saturday’s protest, Russia’s prime minister said it was impossible to annul the December 4 parliamentary election – the opposition’s key demand – but promised the March presidential vote, in which he is running, would be transparent.

Comparing protesters to Russian revolutionaryLeon Trotsky, Putin said they were more interested in sowing chaos than implementing a concrete set of ideas on how the world’s biggest energy producer should develop.

“The problem is that they have no single program,” the 59-year-old leader told top members of his All Russia People’s Front, an umbrella movement of supporters, at his presidential election campaign headquarters in Moscow.

“They have many individual programs, but no unified one and no clear way to reach their goals, which are also not clear, and there are no people who would be able to do anything concrete,” Putin said.

Facing the biggest protests since he rose to power in 1999, Russia’s most powerful politician has looked out of touch in recent weeks, dismissing thousands of protesters as chattering monkeys while offering gradual political reforms.

With supporters, Putin took the protests more seriously, saying his opponents deserved respect despite their hunger for what he termed “Brownian motion,” the apparently random movement of particles observed by Scottish scientist Robert Brown.

Paramount leader

Putin presented himself as a leader able to ensure stability and protesters as spoilers bend on chaos, a potentially appealing strategy in a country which has been racked by crises and political chaos since the 1991 fall of the Soviet Union.

Putin, who polls show is Russia’s most popular politician, said that he had a solid agenda which included modernization of the $1.9 trillion economy and strengthening of defense.

He said protesters were trying to undermine the legitimacy of the parliamentary vote and called for a transparent presidential election.

“When this kind of situation emerges, there is always an attempt to devalue and undermine the legitimacy of everything that happened in the public sphere, including and, most of all, the electoral process,” he said.

“Therefore, everything must be done in order to ensure that elections are understandable, transparent and objective.”

Putin said his government would spend $500 million to install web cameras at all polling stations, an idea he first aired on December 15, although some of his supporters argued it would do little to boost transparency.

The gulf between Putin and tens of thousands of people who came out onto the streets of Russia’s biggest cities has stoked speculation that Putin may seek to ditch some senior aides.

The Kremlin’s powerful first deputy chief of staff, Vladislav Surkov, did not attend Putin’s meeting, the first such absence for months at a meeting of such importance. Surkov did not return calls.

Other Putin’s allies, including trade union activists, industry workers and war veterans, complained to their boss about the methods used by the opposition, with some calling for tighter Internet regulation.

Remaking Central Asia

22 12 2011

[This article from Asia Times was loaded with trojans and other malware toys, speaking volumes about the relevance of its content.  The more electronic "noise" any article attracts, the more it must be hitting anti-Empire "home runs."   This article's focus on exposing the Hizb ut-Tahrir movement is very important at this point in our research, as it presently relates to the previous story out of Tajikistan on controversial mufti,  Turajonzoda, who also does what he can to expose the HT group as a Western fabrication.

An important element of the HT ideology are the teachings of Said Nursi, which is also true in the Fethullah Gulen movement.  Like other totalitarian "Islamic" beliefs, such as that of the Wahhabi, or Salafis, the synthetic "Islam" taught by these individuals instills a supremacist belief system in the mind of the believer that compels him to see individuals professing other faiths as "infidels" and unbelievers.  The most extremist believers of this nonsense are convinced by what they are taught that it is their holy duty to kill the enemies of God.  Read a judgment from the Moscow district court, describing this psychological mechanism as taught in Nursi's writings, Risale-i Nur--

[Risale-i Nur] “attempts to influence the psyche of the reader subconsciously using mechanisms of religious belief, i.e. the formation of conscious values and convictions with an irrational basis…,the destruction of religious equality, expressed in the formation of a negative, aggressive attitude among its target audience towards adherents of other confessional groups…,propagandises hatred between Muslims and non-believers.”

Hizbut-Tahrir is a British creation, which has been passed on to the American Empire-builders.  It is a weaponized form of Islam, intended to infect the mind of those who receive it with a sense of superiority and a mission to be God’s executioner.  The spread of this viral form of pseudo-religious mass-hypnosis coincides with increased social unrest and the rise of militant Islamists in the former Soviet space.  This is why it is banned in Russia and eventually in every CIS country that is striving to survive the great wave of American psychological warfare, otherwise known as the “Arab Spring” movement.]

Remaking Central Asia

By Ramtanu Maitra

May 27, 2005

“Britain has two important ingredients to offer to the United States: first, its ability to undo the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia and parts of the Indian sub-continent through the use of people living in London’s Aladdin’s cave; and second, its control of world currency movements through the City of London.”

Most major media outlets have spelled out with a profusion of details the “exact” events that led to the death of what some claim to have been hundreds of people in the eastern Uzbekistan town of Andijan on May 13. Led by British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw, the world media condemned much-maligned Uzbekistan President Islam Karimov for yet another bloody and ruthless suppression of “public dissent”. Yet, all the details so far provided do not explain who the real players were or their end objectives.

It is certain, however, that the puzzle cannot be solved unless the London factor is understood. The answers lie in London, Birmingham, Bradford and Liverpool. The old British colonial establishment, with former intelligence officer Bernard Lewis as its mentor, appears to have set in motion a series of events that will bring endless bloodshed to Central Asia. London’s objective would appear to be to keep both China and Russia under an open-ended threat. At this point, there is no one who can better serve this “Lewis Doctrine” than Muslims nurtured in Britain – the Hizbut-Tehrir (HT).

Ferghana Valley’s importance
The most significant aspect of the violent incident in Andijan is that it occurred in the Ferghana Valley, a confluence of three former Soviet republics – Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Andijan is located about 25 miles (40 kilometers) west of Osh, Kyrgyzstan, where the seed crystal for the March uprising against Kyrgyz president Askar Akayev was planted. Within a span of 48 hours after the uprising began in Osh, Akayev was gone.

Andijan is also about 25 miles east of Namangan, the hotbed of the Saudi-funded Wahhabi form of Islamic extremism. Juma Namangani, now dead, was the leader of the movement that began in Namangan. The Ferghana Valley’s 7 million inhabitants make it the most densely populated region in Central Asia. In other words, Andijan is in the heart of Ferghana Valley, and is the key to controlling it.

For years, Central Asian governments have pointed to the valley as a hotbed of Muslim extremists aiming to set up an Islamic state in the region. Largely ethnically Uzbek, the valley is split between Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan in a confused patchwork of Soviet-era borders that often leave enclaves of one country surrounded by the territory of another. In general, Uzbekistan holds the valley floor, Tajikistan holds its narrow mouth and Kyrgyzstan holds the high ground around. Though the valley mouth is narrow, the actual valley is vast at 22,000 square kilometers (8,500 square miles), and the Pamir and Tien Shan mountains that rise above it are only dimly visible, but they are the main source of the water that fertilizes the valley.

During the Soviet era, the valley was a major center of cotton and silk production, and the hills above are covered by walnut forests. The valley also has some oil and gas. That scene has not changed much. What has changed significantly since the1990s, following the collapse of the Soviet Union, is its integration with the “free world”, and that process has made Central Asia economically decrepit and turned it into a hotbed of transnational Islamic militants, controlled and funded by outside forces. Recently, the Kyrgyz media reported of personnel of the country’s border control services saying that the illegal entry of foreign nationals and individuals without any citizenship into Kyrgyzstan was on the rise. What is important to note is that these militants were not parachuted out of airplanes: they are coming through Afghanistan and Pakistan. It could very well be a ticking time bomb for India, China and Russia.

Footsoldiers of foreign powers
Apart from various Islamic preachers, two major Islamic groups function in the Ferghana Valley, whose common objective is to change the regimes in Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan. These are the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU) and the HT. While the IMU openly thrives on violence, the HT is strongly promoted by the United Kingdom, where it is headquartered, as peaceful. But records indicate that that the IMU and the HT work hand-in-hand. Most of the IMU recruits are from the HT, according to Rohan Gunaratna, an expert on world terrorist outfits. Gunaratna claims that Khaled Sheikh Muhammad, the alleged mastermind of the September 11, 2001, terror attacks in the US, and Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the Jordanian of Chechen origin who has remained active in the Iraqi insurgency against the US occupying forces, were both once members of the HT.

The relationship between the Taliban and the IMU pre-dates September 11. In September 1996, after the Taliban had captured the Afghan capital, Kabul, Juma Namangani and Tahir Yuldashev – long-time adversaries of Karimov and considered the founders of the IMU – held a press conference in the city to announce the formation of the IMU. Namangani, who had served as a Soviet paratrooper in Afghanistan in the 1980s, became the group’s leader (or amir) and Yuldashev its military commander. Their aim was to topple Karimov and turn Uzbekistan, and ultimately the whole of Central Asia, into an Islamic state. The Taliban provided them with a place to shelter and train, and to plot against Karimov. It is also said that Yuldashev developed contact with Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan and the two became supportive of each other. Although Karimov is a target of the IMU, in recent months he has identified the HT as the greater threat. Following the Andijan incident, Uzbek authorities again blamed the HT.

Unlike the IMU, which has concentrated its role in Central Asia, with the Ferghana Valley as the focus, the HT is an international Islamic movement. It is headquartered in London, but also has a strong organizational presence in Birmingham, Liverpool and Bradford. The UK group was co-founded by Omar Bakri Mohammed, who went to the UK after being expelled from Saudi Arabia in 1986. The HT’s present leader is an information technology professional from the Indian sub-continent, Jalaluddin Patel.

The HT was established in 1953 in Palestine by a well-known religious figure, the judge of the appellate Sharia court in Jerusalem, Takieddin al-Nabahani al-Falastini (1909-1979). According to available reports, the group’s first UK-based website was hosted by the London Imperial College – but following complaints to the college authorities, the site was closed down until a new host could be found. The group now posts in its own name as Hizbut-Tehrir.

Although portrayed as non-violent by British authorities, Bakri’s links to bin Laden are widely known. Excerpts of a letter to Bakri from bin Laden, sent by fax from Afghanistan in the summer of 1998, were published in the Los Angeles Times. Bakri later released what he called bin Laden’s four specific objectives for a jihad against the US: “Bring down their airliners. Prevent the safe passage of their ships. Occupy their embassies. Force the closure of their companies and banks.” Many of those who follow HT activities are intrigued that the group is not more discreet. For instance, its website in 2003 carried “A Cry of Imam from the Muslims of Uzbekistan.” In that article, the “imam” gave the call “to destroy Karimov” . Similar calls have been issued to oust the Jordanian and Turkish authorities. These are not empty threats. The HT is a huge organization. Some claim it has at least 10,000 footsoldiers in Central Asia. A few thousand more are lurking in Pakistan and Afghanistan. HT also has a strong presence in North Africa.

As one Indian analyst pointed out, Osh and Jalalabad, the cities that spearheaded the regime change in Kyrgyzstan, happen to be HT strongholds. HT is making huge gains in an entire belt stretching from the Ferghana provinces of Namangan, Andijan and Kokand (contiguous to Osh and Jalalabad) to the adjacent Penjekent Valley (Uzbekistan) and Khojent (Tajikistan).

The Lewis Doctrine
Writing for the Jamestown Foundation Journal (Vol 2 Issue 4), Stephen Ulph, in his article “Londonistan”, seemed intrigued by that fact that scores of violent Islamic movements remain anchored in London. He writes:
It [London] is also a center for Islamist politics. You could say that London has become, for the exponents of radical Islam, the most important city in the Middle East. A framework of lenient asylum laws has allowed the development of the largest and most overt concentration of Islamist political activists since Taliban-ruled Afghanistan. Just ask the French, whose exasperation with the indulgent toleration afforded to Algerian Islamic activists led them to dub the city dismissively as “l’antechambre de l’Afghanistan”. They certainly have a point. Many of bin Laden’s fatwas [religious edicts] were actually first publicized in London. In fact, the United Kingdom in general seems to differ from other European states in the degree to which it became a spiritual and communications hub for the jihad movement …
Ulph does not, however, ask why it is that London remains an “Aladdin’s Cave”, chock-full of Islamic dissidents. Britain is no longer a military or economic power of substance. In order to be an almost-equal partner in the Atlantic alliance, Britain has two important ingredients to offer to the United States: first, its ability to undo the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia and parts of the Indian sub-continent through the use of people living in London’s Aladdin’s cave; and second, its control of world currency movements through the City of London.

The West’s policy – in other words, the policy of the Anglo-Americans, as the European Union does not have a policy worth citing – toward the Middle East has long been formulated by Bernard Lewis. The British-born Lewis started his career as an intelligence officer and has remained in bed with British intelligence ever since. Avowedly anti-Russia and pro-Israel, Lewis reaped a rich harvest among US academia and policymakers. He brought president Jimmy Carter’s virulently anti-Russian National Security Council chief, Zbigniew Brzezinski, into his fold in the 1980s, and made the US neo-conservatives, led by Vice President Dick Cheney, dance to his tune on the Middle East in 2001. In between, he penned dozens of books and was taken seriously by people as a historian. But, in fact, Lewis is what he always was: a British intelligence officer.

To understand the “Lewis Doctrine”, one must read the statement he made in Canada recently while discussing his article, “Freedom and Justice in the Modern Middle East” (Foreign Affairs, May/June 2005). “During the Second World War, Nazi Germany and the allies had all sorts of odd friends,” Lewis said on that occasion. “When [Prime Minister Winston] Churchill was asked in the House of Commons about Britain’s new ally, Russia, he replied that if Hitler would invade hell, ‘I would find occasion to support the devil’. In this way, there is nothing odd about an alliance between Saddam [Hussein] and al-Qaeda.” Or, one might be expected to conclude, between London and the Hizbut-Tehrir.

In 1979, when Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini took over power in Iran and the West was in a quandary, Lewis sucked Brzezinski into his notion that “Koranic evangelism” could be a very useful political tool against Russia in the long term. His Time magazine story at the time, “The Crescent of Crisis”, ended with the following telling observation:
In the long run there may even be targets of opportunity for the West created by ferment within the crescent. Islam is undoubtedly compatible with socialism, but it is inimical to atheistic communism. The Soviet Union is already the world’s fifth largest Muslim nation. By the year 2000, the huge Islamic populations in the border republics may outnumber Russia’s now dominant Slavs. From Islamic democracies on Russia’s southern tier, zealous Koranic evangelism might sweep across the border into these politically repressed Soviet states, creating problems for the Kremlin … Whatever the solution, there is a clear need for the US to recapture what [Henry] Kissinger calls the “geopolitical momentum”. That more than anything else will help maintain order in the crescent of crisis.
The recent developments in Uzbekistan have all the hallmarks of the same process. This time the objective is to weaken China, Russia, and possibly India, using the HT to unleash the dogs of war in Central Asia. It is not difficult for those on the ground to see what is happening. The leader of the Islamic Party of Tajikistan, Deputy Prime Minister Hoji Akbar Turajonzoda, has identified HT as a Western-sponsored bogeyman for “remaking Central Asia”. He said: “A more detailed analysis of HT’s programmatic and ideological views and concrete examples of its activities suggests that it was created by anti-Islamic forces. One proof of this is the comfortable existence this organization enjoys in a number of Western countries, where it has large centers and offices that develop its concept of an Islamic caliphate.” It is evident that Turajonzoda has seen through this game. But he has little capability to stop the juggernaut once it has been unleashed.

It is not a lack of understanding on the part of American neo-conservatives associated with the Bush administration, but their keenness to use the “Lewis Doctrine” to achieve what they believe is justified that promises untold danger. How important a brains-trust is Lewis to the neo-conservatives? Just read the words of Richard Perle, a leading neo-conservative who remains a close adviser to Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld: “Bernard Lewis has been the single-most important intellectual influence countering the conventional wisdom on managing the conflict between radical Islam and the West.”

Looking at Putin and seeing Lieberman

5 10 2011
[I have been taking a little heat lately for failing to turn this website into just another raving center of anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.  Normally, I try to resist feeding such notions, even though I believe that the theories are based on elements of truth, especially theories about the carefully planned Jewish penetrations of power institutions (especially governments), for the covert purpose of instituting the radical Zionist agenda of warmongering, psychological subversion, and financial domination, as the dominant policies of most Western nations.  The major international problems caused by these covert manipulations of Nations by these Zionist sleeper agents are bringing the issue of Zionist blackmail of governments and support of terrorism out into the open.  With the failing of the "Russian Reset" of Medvedev and Obama and the return of Putin, it is vital that we now look into the issue of whether Putin really is a "Philo-Semite," or not.  Putin is not what he seems, and the large Russian emigre community that dominates the shitty little Zionist state may be prepared to force Israel into switching partners, from the two-timing, double-dealing Americans, with their dying economy, to the reviving Russian empire, "Soviet Union 2.0."  Recent moves by Russian state energy giant Gazprom to join in Israeli attempts to seize control of Mediterranean gas deposits help to validate this theory.]

Looking at Putin and seeing Lieberman

In the changing regional reality, the United States is displaying weakness, while Russia is striving for assertive involvement.

By Adar Primor

The babushka doll manufacturers in Russia must be very busy these days. The “as if” era is over. Their last assembly line is no longer relevant. They must restore the dolls to their natural size. Little Putin will grow again. Big Medvedev will have to nest inside him.

The frenzy in view of the expected leadership rotation has obviously gripped the Liberals too. They hastened to print posters of Vladimir Putin – the old-soon-to-be-new-again president – in the image of Leonid Brezhnev. Wearing a military uniform and adorned with Soviet medals, he even boasted Brezhnev’s eyebrows.

“Welcome back to the USSR,” warn the commentators. “Putin 2.0″ – as some call his renewed presidency – will boost the nationalist spirits, emphasize the anti-Western reflexes and abandon the reset policy, which had brought Medvedev’s Russia and Obama’s United States closer.

Purportedly, Putin wishes to restore the superpower status his country lost after the Soviet Union’s collapse; it will be impossible not to feel it in the Middle East as well.

“The Arab spring” gives Putin a rash; NATO’s campaign in Libya makes him sick; he vehemently objects to military intervention in Syria and has even thwarted a European initiative at the UN Security Council to impose sanctions on Assad’s murderous regime. He determinedly oppresses any Chechneyan, Dagestani, Ingushetian or other attempt at self-determination in the Russian federation’s territories. He was then also fighting against the recognition of Kosovo’s independence.

In contrast, when it comes to the Palestinians, the “spring” is in full bloom. The Russian vote in the Security Council is Mahmoud Abbas’ sure bet. It is the same vote that prevented mentioning “the Jewish state” in the Quartet’s last gesture.

All these constitute a hub of controversies in the Mossad, defense establishment and Foreign Ministry. According to one school, “the Russians keep spitting in Israel’s face.” Advocates of this opinion cite, among other things, the advanced-weapons supply to Syria and Russia’s contacts with Hamas, contrary to the Quartet’s position. The other school says the relations have been constantly improving over the past decade. Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, who set upgrading the relations with Russia as a central goal, argues “they are better today than ever.” According to Yevgeny Satanovsky, president of Moscow’s Institute of Middle East Studies, Putin is a philo-semite, and if Israel had stopped behaving like the 51st state of the United States, it would have enjoyed preferential Russian treatment.–BREAK

{EDITOR INSERT:

Yevgeny Satanovsky, the outspoken former president of the Russian Jewish Congress who is today president of the Institute for Israel and Middle East Studies, a Moscow-based think tank, is forthright in endorsing Putin’s crackdown on democracy.

“A centralized system of power is good. Otherwise, we would likely have an independent Tatarstan and an independent Siberia, and perhaps an independent Moscow fighting independent St. Petersburg.”

Satanovsky said, “Whatever else one might say about Putin, he is philo-Semitic and pro-Israel. Maybe Putin’s successor will be less friendly than he is, but the main thing is that to be anti-Israel or anti-Semitic is no longer part of acceptable political culture in Russia.”

Satanovsky predicted, “Despite the present problems, relations between Russia and the U.S. will recover. I believe Russian Jews, who have interests in Russia, the U.S., Israel and Europe, will play a bridging role in all of this. There are Jewish businessmen like [Leonard] Blavatnik, [Mikhail] Fridman and [Viktor] Vexelberg doing enormous business together in both Russia and the West. Blavatnik is a U.S. citizen and the other two are Russian citizens, but collectively they work as a bridge between the two countries.”–END QUOTE}—[This purpose of the Russian oligarchs is to ease Jewish-dominated Russia into an alliance with Jewish-dominated Amerika, the much touted "New World Order"--editor]

the Children of Israel will furnish all the leaders without encountering opposition. The Governments of the different peoples forming the world republic will fall without difficulty into the hands of the Jews. END BREAK–

Some observers look at Putin and see Lieberman; listen to Avigdor and hear Vladimir. This distinction is only partially correct, of course, because the Kremlin’s rhetoric goes something like this:

“Our concern for security and stability dictate our policy on the Arab spring. Assad might be a son of a bitch and Gadhafi might be mad, but we’ve seen what can happen when a secular-totalitarian regime is replaced by Islamic rulers and Iranian influence in Iraq. The instability in the Middle East could have repercussions in Caucasus and beyond. Russia must look after itself and Israel should be the first to be worried because Libyan weapons have already found their way back to Gaza.

“We inherited recognition of the Palestinian state from the Soviet Union already in 1988, just as we inherited recognition of the Jewish state in 1947,” the Russians continue. “The direct reference to freezing the settlements was removed from the Quartet’s outline, with our consent, as part of a deal in which the demand to recognize Israel as a Jewish state – a definition that is self evident – was removed also.

“In his Zionist speech at the UN, Obama proved that the United States is incapable of being an honest broker,” the Russians conclude. “We, on the other hand, have close relations with both sides, including Hamas, which is an Israeli creation anyway, and which regrettably can no longer be ignored.”

In the changing regional reality, the United States is displaying weakness, while Russia is striving for assertive involvement. The larger Vladimir’s babushka doll swells, the stronger Avidgdor’s Russian challenge will grow.

Putin lauds Nazi Racist Lieberman

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin praised Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman on Friday for his rise to a senior cabinet position in Israel after having emigrated from the former Soviet Union.

“We are very happy that people from the Soviet Union build such a brilliant political career,” said Putin at a meeting in Moscow, referring to the foreign minister.

Lieberman, leader of the right-wing Yisrael Beiteinu party, was born in the former Soviet Moldova.

During the talks, the foreign minister called for closer ties and economic cooperation between the two countries. He spoke with Putin in flawless Russian, throwing in a few words of English.

Putin also praised Israel’s sizable Russian community as “something that unites us with you like no other country.”

Lieberman was visiting Moscow for a session of a Russian-Israeli Intergovernmental Commission, which mainly focuses on economic ties. He lauded the commission for establishing a visa-free system between the two countries last year. He said the measure will likely to double the number of Russian tourists traveling to Israel to 400,000 this year.

The committee will invite business communities of both countries to its next session in April 2010 to discuss news initiatives such as measures to help protect Russian and Israeli investment, Lieberman said.

Lieberman and Putin did not discuss Iran’s nuclear ambitions or any other foreign policy issues on the record. After stepping down as president in 2008, Putin formally isn’t in charge of Russia’s foreign policy. http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1132819.html

Scapegoating Pakistan for US Failures, Including Jalahuddin Haqqani

16 09 2011

[The Western press is filled with accusations against Pakistan for the mutual US/Pakistani creation of the Haqqani army, to a lesser extent, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, as well as the Taliban and "al-Qaeda," all creations of the American Imperial plan for global conquest.  By creating the many separate armies of Islam, the CIA has deviously and brilliantly manipulated the world into a world war against their Islamic armies.  Until the people of the world learn to see these things as facts, we will continue to be played for suckers by the American/British elite, who have us by the behavioral modified "balls."]

Unending game in Afghanistan

Return to frontpage

If there is an overriding message from the Taliban attack on the United States Embassy and NATO’s headquarters in Kabul, it is that the tragedy in Afghanistan, scripted to a large extent by the Americans, is no nearer ending than it was two, five, or ten years ago. The U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan shrugged off Tuesday’s assault, which lasted 20 hours and left at least 11 Afghans dead, as “harassment rather than a direct attack.” He would. Over the last few months, the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) has made out that it has successfully diminished the Taliban’s fighting capacities. Such spin enables the U.S. to claim a victory of sorts as some 30,000 of its troops are pulled out of Afghanistan, in keeping with the withdrawal President Barack Obama has promised by 2014. In some areas, including Kabul, ISAF has handed over to Afghan security forces. But Tuesday’s attack, and two previous attacks on well-protected high-profile targets in the Afghan capital — the British Council in August and the Intercontinental Hotel in June — have exposed the extreme fragility of the country’s security. It strengthens the hands of those who want western troops to remain in Afghanistan. There are bound to be fresh doubts now about the other part of the U.S. strategy — talking to the Taliban, or some sections of it. The U.S. accusation that the attack was the work of the Pakistan-based Haqqani network has only underscored the enduring complexity of getting to peace in Afghanistan, a full decade after “Operation Enduring Freedom” was launched in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

In these 10 years, the U.S.-led war has taken a horrific toll of civilian lives and welfare. In a report released in July, the United Nations estimated that the violence in the country claimed the lives of 1,462 non-combatants in the first six months of 2011. While the report attributed most of the deaths to “anti-government elements,” it held security forces responsible for 14 per cent of the deaths, with air strikes as the main killer. Even for a country that has known no peace for more than three decades, such high civilian casualties are difficult to absorb. Afghanistan’s double jeopardy is that the violence is certain to continue as long as western troops remain on its soil, but it has no mechanisms in place to ensure security and stability if and when those troops leave. The so-called end-game in anticipation of the American pull-out has only increased the bloodshed as the players — Afghan, regional, and international — compete to entrench themselves and outwit one another.

US Public Diplomacy Deploying Homosexual Activism As Destabilization of Religious Societies

23 07 2011

[The American embassy in el Salvador, just like the American embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan is forcing the issue of "gay rights" to the forefront of  the national conversation, in order to stimulate right-wing reactions.  In Pakistan, they had a gay rights parade down the middle of Islamabad's streets, knowing that it would spark widespread conservative reactions, hoping that those reactions would be violent.  In both cases, religious societies are confronted with the Imperial demand that they create special rights for individuals who are violating fundamental religious laws shared by the indigenous culture.   The result is predictable; it is intentional, and it harmful to real attempts to foster democratic rights within those countries.  Criminal American foreign policy, such as this, which is intended to destabilize entire nations will one day be on the list of war crimes that we will be called to account for one day, to a power  greater than the US military.]

By Will Ferguson

An editorial by the U.S. Ambassador to El Salvador, promoting gay rights, has set off a debate between “pro-family” activists and gay rights groups in El Salvador.

U.S. ambassador to El Salvador, Mari Carmen Aponte published a letter in the La Prensa Grafica newspaper on June 28, strongly supporting the rights of lesbians, bisexuals, gays and transgenders in El Salvador. The article received strong backlash from conservative Salvadorans.

“We have seen some arguments back and forth between different groups in the country after the article’s publication, however our position remains the same,” said Robert McInturff, a representative from the U.S. embassy in El Salvador. “The editorial speaks for itself.”

Almost two dozen self-described “pro-family” organizations in El Salvador responded with their own editorial, accusing Aponte of trying to force an agenda that doesn’t mix with the country’s Christian beliefs. The groups also sent a letter of protest to the U.S. senate, asking for Aponte to be removed from her position.

Aponte was appointed to her current position by U.S. President Barack Obama in 2010 during a congressional recess. She drew heavily from Obama’s agenda in her editorial and quoted U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton saying, “Gay rights are human rights” in the editorial. In addition, she called for an end to discrimination against members of the gay community in the workplace.

Her letter references a United Nations declaration from March 2010 to eliminate violence directed against the LGBT community. During a meeting of the UN Council of Human Rights, 83 countries including the United States and El Salvador signed a declaration to eliminate violence directed against the LGBT community. In May of 2010, El Salvadorian president Mauricio Funes signed decree 56, which prohibits the Salvadorian government from discriminating against people based on their sexual preference.

Despite the political agreements to stem negative sentiments against the LGBT community, a coalition of some 22 human rights groups and pro-family organizations in El Salvador have accused Aponte of seeking to impose a homosexual political agenda on a heavily Christian country.

The coalition responded to Aponte’s letter with its own publication in El Diaro de Hoy. The letter states the ambassador is ignoring one of the first rules of diplomacy, respecting the culture and customs of the country you are in.

“Mrs. Aponte, in clear violation of the rules of diplomacy and international law, you seek to impose on Salvadorans, belittling our fundamentally Christian values, rooted in the natural law, a new vision of foreign values, totally alien to our way of thinking, disguising them as supposed human rights,” the coalition wrote on July 7, 2011.

Aponte’s post as ambassador to El Salvador has never been approved by the U.S. Senate due to ongoing allegations about her suspected association with suspected Cuban intelligence agents during the 1980s and 1990s.

Aponte’s appointment was given the green light after an investigation by the FBI yielded no suspicious activity. However, her position has yet to be officially confirmed.

The Ultimate Cost of Forcing Moral Young Men To Fight Multiple Immoral Wars

15 07 2011

“Psychotropic drug: Any drug capable of affecting the mind, emotions, and behavior. Some legal drugs such as lithium for depression are psychotropic. Many illicit drugs such as cocaine are also psychotropic. Also called a psychodynamic drug.

From the Greek psycho-, the mind + trop, a turning = (capable of) turning the mind.”

Military Deaths Linked to Prescribed Psych Drugs

If mentally incapacitated troops are being drugged with dangerous, mind-altering drugs and deployed to battle against their will, how can we say that we have a volunteer army?

The increasingly high number of DEATHS in the US military–from suicides, accidental overdose, and, increasingly, lethal drug interactions–has been linked to the exponential increase in the prescribing of powerful, psychotropic drugs.

Since The Hartford Courant first published several investigative reports (2006) about the deadly consequences of prescribing powerful psychotropic drugs to US troops who were deployed to battle with a supply of these mind-altering drugs–where those ingesting them pose a danger both to themselves and to the other troops–a series of reports have documented the continued rise in the death toll..

The latest report in The New York Times (February, 2011, below), confirms that the norm and practice in the military is reliance on potentially lethal psychotropic drug combinations continues–even as the body count climbs.

”After a decade of treating thousands of wounded troops, the military’s medical system is awash in prescription drugs — and the results have sometimes been deadly.

By some estimates, well over 300,000 troops have returned from Iraq or Afghanistan with P.T.S.D., depression, traumatic brain injury or some combination of those. The Pentagon has looked to pharmacology to treat those complex problems, following the lead of civilian medicine. As a result, psychiatric drugs have been used more widely across the military than in any previous war.

But those medications, along with narcotic painkillers, are being increasingly linked to a rising tide of other problems, among them drug dependency, suicide and fatal accidents — sometimes from the interaction of the drugs themselves.

An Army report on suicide released last year documented the problem, saying one-third of the force was on at least one prescription medication.

“Prescription drug use is on the rise,” the report said, noting that medications were involved in one-third of the record 162 suicides by active-duty soldiers in 2009. An additional 101 soldiers died accidentally from the toxic mixing of prescription drugs from 2006 to 2009.”

THE HARTFORD COURANT / ASSOCIATED PRESS   MAY 14, 2006   Military Ignores Mental Illness

“The U.S. military is sending troops with serious psychological problems into Iraq and is keeping soldiers in combat even after superiors have been alerted to suicide warnings and other signs of mental illness, a Courant investigation has found.  Once at war, some unstable troops are kept on the front lines while on potent antidepressants and anti-anxiety drugs, with little or no counseling or medical monitoring. And some troops who developed post-traumatic stress disorder after serving in Iraq are being sent back to the war zone, increasing the risk to their mental health.

“Some service members who committed suicide in 2004 and 2005 were kept on duty despite clear signs of mental distress, sometimes after being prescribed antidepressants with little or no mental health counseling or monitoring, the Courant reported. Those findings conflict with regulations adopted last year by the Army that caution against the use of antidepressants for “extended deployments.”

“I can’t imagine something more irresponsible than putting a Soldier suffering from stress on (antidepressants), when you know these drugs can cause people to become suicidal and homicidal,” said Vera Sharav, president of the Alliance for Human Research Protection, a New York-based advocacy group. “You’re creating chemically activated time bombs.”

TIME MAGAZINE   FEBRUARY 9, 2009  America’s Medicated Army

For the first time in history, a sizable and growing number of U.S. combat troops are taking daily doses of antidepressants to calm nerves strained by repeated and lengthy tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. The medicines are intended not only to help troops keep their cool but also to enable the already strapped Army to preserve its most precious resource:soldiers on the front lines.

Data contained in the Army’s fifth Mental Health Advisory Team report indicate that, according to an anonymous survey of U.S. troops taken last fall, about 12% of combat troops in Iraq and 17% of those in Afghanistan are taking prescription antidepressants or sleeping pills to help them cope. Escalating violence in Afghanistan and the more isolated mission have driven troops to rely more on medication there than in Iraq, military officials say.”

TRUTHOUT  Hearing Debates Link Between Psychiatric Drugs and Veterans’ SuicidesThursday 25 February 2010

Beginning in 2002, the suicide rate among soldiers rose significantly, reaching record levels in 2007 and again in 2008 despite the Army’s major prevention and intervention efforts,

THE NAVY TIMES   Mar 17, 2010   Medicating the military

EXCERPT:  The DLA records detail the range of drugs being prescribed to the military community and the spending on them:

• Antipsychotic medications, including Seroquel and Risperdal, spiked most dramatically — orders jumped by more than 200 percent, and annual spending more than quadrupled, from $4 million to $16 million.

• Use of anti-anxiety drugs and sedatives such as Valium and Ambien also rose substantially; orders increased 170 percent, while spending nearly tripled, from $6 million to about $17 million.

• Antiepileptic drugs, also known as anticonvulsants, were among the most commonly used psychiatric medications. Annual orders for these drugs increased about 70 percent, while spending more than doubled, from $16 million to $35 million.

• Antidepressants had a comparatively modest 40 percent gain in orders, but it was the only drug group to show an overall decrease in spending, from $49 million in 2001 to $41 million in 2009, a drop of 16 percent. The debut in recent years of cheaper generic versions of these drugs is likely responsible for driving down costs.

Antidepressants and anticonvulsants are the most common mental health medications prescribed to service members. Seventeen percent of the active-duty force, and as much as 6 percent of deployed troops, are on antidepressants, Brig. Gen. Loree Sutton, the Army’s highest-ranking psychiatrist, told Congress on Feb. 24.

In contrast, about 10 percent of all Americans take antidepressants, according to a 2009 Columbia University study.

XXX cut XXX

Doctors — and, more recently, lawmakers — are questioning whether the drugs could be responsible for the spike in military suicides during the past several years, an upward trend that roughly parallels the rise in psychiatric drug use.

From 2001 to 2009, the Army’s suicide rate increased more than 150 percent, from 9 per 100,000 soldiers to 23 per 100,000. The Marine Corps suicide rate is up about 50 percent, from 16.7 per 100,000 Marines in 2001 to 24 per 100,000 last year. Orders for psychiatric drugs in the analysis rose 76 percent over the same period.

“There is overwhelming evidence that the newer antidepressants commonly prescribed by the military can cause or worsen suicidality, aggression and other dangerous mental states,” said Dr. Peter Breggin, a psychiatrist who testified at the same Feb. 24 congressional hearing at which Sutton appeared.

Other side effects — increased irritability, aggressiveness and hostility — also could pose a risk.

USA TODAY  January 20, 2011  More Army Guard, Reserve soldiers committing suicide

The Army released final year-end statistics Wednesday. There were 301 confirmed or suspected soldier suicides in 2010, including those on active duty and reservists or National Guard troops on an inactive status, the Army reported Wednesday. This compares with 242 in 2009.

The prescribing practices border on reckless endangerment–which is a felony. Two questions arise:

1. If mentally incapacitated troops are being drugged and deployed against their will, how can we say that we have a volunteer army?

2. How is this prescribing practice any less deplorable than prison chain gangs?

For Some Troops, Powerful Drug Cocktails Have Deadly Results

By JAMES DAO, BENEDICT CAREY and DAN FROSCH
This article was reported by James Dao, Benedict Carey and Dan Frosch and written by Mr. Dao.

In his last months alive, Senior Airman Anthony Mena rarely left home without a backpack filled with medications. He returned from his second deployment to Iraq complaining of back pain, insomnia, anxiety and nightmares. Doctors diagnosed post-traumatic stress disorder and prescribed powerful cocktails of psychiatric drugs and narcotics.

Yet his pain only deepened, as did his depression. “I have almost given up hope,” he told a doctor in 2008, medical records show. “I should have died in Iraq.”

Airman Mena died instead in his Albuquerque apartment, on July 21, 2009, five months after leaving the Air Force on a medical discharge. A toxicologist found eight prescription medications in his blood, including threeantidepressants, a sedative, a sleeping pill and two potent painkillers.

Yet his death was no suicide, the medical examiner concluded. What killed Airman Mena was not an overdose of any one drug, but the interaction of many. He was 23.

After a decade of treating thousands of wounded troops, the military’s medical system is awash in prescription drugs — and the results have sometimes been deadly.

An additional 101 soldiers died accidentally from the toxic mixing of prescription drugs from 2006 to 2009.

“I’m not a doctor, but there is something inside that tells me the fewer of these things we prescribe, the better off we’ll be,” Gen. Peter W. Chiarelli, the vice chief of staff of the Army who has led efforts on suicide, said in an interview.

Growing awareness of the dangers of overmedicated troops has prompted the Defense Department to improve the monitoring of prescription medications and restrict their use.

In November, the Army issued a new policy on the use of multiple medications that calls for increased training for clinicians, 30-day limits on new prescriptions and comprehensive reviews of cases where patients are receiving four or more drugs.

The Pentagon is also promoting measures to prevent troops from stockpiling medications, a common source of overdoses. For instance, the Navy, which provides medical care for Marines, has begun pill “give back” days on certain bases. At Camp Lejeune, N.C., 22,000 expired pills were returned in December.

The Army and the Navy are also offering more treatments without drugs, including acupuncture and yoga. And they have tried to expand talk therapy programs — one of which, exposure therapy, is considered by some experts to be the only proven treatment for P.T.S.D. But shortages of mental health professionals have hampered those efforts.

Still, given the depth of the medical problems facing combat veterans, as well as the medical system’s heavy reliance on drugs, few experts expect the widespread use of multiple medications to decline significantly anytime soon.

The New York Times reviewed in detail the cases of three service members who died from what coroners said were toxic interactions of prescription drugs. All were classified accidents, not suicides.

Airman Mena was part of a military police unit that conducted combat patrols alongside Army units in downtown Baghdad. He cleaned up the remains of suicide bombing victims and was nearly killed by a bomb himself, his records show.

Christopher Bachus had spent virtually his entire adult life in the Marine Corps, deploying to the Middle East in 1991, Iraq during the invasion of 2003 and, for a short tour, Afghanistan in 2005. He suffered from what doctors called survivor’s guilt and came back “like a ghost,” said his brother, Jerry, of Westerville, Ohio.

Cpl. Nicholas Endicott joined the Marines in 2003 after working as a coal miner in West Virginia. He deployed twice to Iraq and once to Afghanistan, where he saw heavy combat. On one mission, Corporal Endicott was blown more than eight feet in the air by a roadside bomb, medical records show. He came home plagued by nightmares and flashbacks and rarely left the house.

Given the complexity of drug interactions, it is difficult to know precisely what killed the three men, and the Pentagon declined to discuss their cases, citing confidentiality. But there were important similarities to their stories.

All the men had been deployed multiple times and eventually received diagnoses of P.T.S.D. All had five or more medications in their systems when they died, including opiate painkillers and mood-altering psychiatric drugs, but not alcohol. All had switched drugs repeatedly, hoping for better results that never arrived.

All died in their sleep.

Psychiatry and Warfare

The military medical system has struggled to meet the demand caused by two wars, and to this day it still reports shortages of therapists, psychologists and psychiatrists. But medications have always been readily available.

Across all branches, spending on psychiatric drugs has more than doubled since 2001, to $280 million in 2010, according to numbers obtained from the Defense Logistics Agency by a Cornell University psychiatrist, Dr. Richard A. Friedman.

Clinicians in the health systems of the Defense and Veterans Affairs Departments say that for most patients, those medications have proved safe. “It is important not to understate the benefit of these medications,” said Dr. Robert Kerns, the national director of pain management for the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Paradoxically, the military came under criticism a decade ago for not prescribing enough medications, particularly for pain. In its willingness to prescribe more readily, the Pentagon was trying to meet standards similar to civilian medicine, General Chiarelli said.

But the response of modern psychiatry to modern warfare has not always been perfect. Psychiatrists still do not have good medications for the social withdrawal, nightmares and irritability that often accompany post-traumatic stress, so they mix and match drugs, trying to relieve symptoms.

“These decisions about medication are difficult enough in civilian psychiatry, but unfortunately in this very-high-stress population, there is almost no data to guide you,” said Dr. Ranga R. Krishnan, a psychiatrist at Duke University. “The psychiatrist is trying everything and to some extent is flying blind.”

Thousands of troops struggle with insomnia, anxiety and chronic pain — a combination that is particularly treacherous to treat with medications. Pairing a pain medication like oxycodone, a narcotic, with an anti-anxiety drug like Xanax, a so-called benzodiazepine, amplifies the tranquilizing effects of both, doctors say.

Similarly, antidepressants like Prozac or Celexa block liver enzymes that help break down narcotics and anxiety drugs, extending their effects.

“The sedation is not necessarily two plus two is four,” said Cmdr. Rosemary Malone, a Navy forensicpsychiatrist. “It could be synergistic. So two plus two could be five.”

Commander Malone and other military doctors said the key to the safe use of multiple prescriptions was careful monitoring: each time clinicians prescribe drugs, they must review a patient’s records and adjust dosages to reduce the risk of harmful interactions. “The goal is to use the least amount of medication at the lowest doses possible to help that patient,” she said.

But there are limits to the monitoring. Troops who see private clinicians — commonly done to avoid the stigma of seeking mental health care on a base — may receive medications that are not recorded in their official military health records.

In the case of Sergeant Bachus of the Marines, it is far from clear that he received the least amount of medication possible.

He saw combat in Iraq, his brother said, and struggled with alcoholism, anxiety, flashbacks, irritability and what doctors called survivor’s guilt after returning home. “He could make himself the life of the party,” Jerry Bachus recalled. “But he came back a shell, like a ghost.”

Sergeant Bachus received a diagnosis of P.T.S.D., and starting in 2005, doctors put him on a regimen that included Celexa for depression, Klonopin for anxiety and Risperdal, an antipsychotic. In 2006, after a period of stability, a military doctor discontinued his medications. But six months later, Sergeant Bachus asked to be put on them again.

According to a detailed autopsy report, his depression and anxiety worsened in late 2006. Yet for unexplained reasons, he was allowed to deploy to Iraq for a second time in early 2007. But when his commanders discovered that he was on psychiatric medications, he was sent home after just a few months, records show.

Frustrated and ashamed that he could not be in a front-line unit and unwilling to work behind a desk, he applied in late 2007 for a medical retirement, a lengthy and often stressful process that seemed to darken his mood.

In early March 2008, a military doctor began giving him an opiate painkiller for his back. A few days later, Sergeant Bachus, 38, called his wife, who was living in Ohio. He sounded delusional, she told investigators later, but not suicidal.

“You know, babe, I am really tired, and I don’t think I’ll have any problems falling asleep tonight,” he told her. He was found dead in his on-base quarters in North Carolina nearly three days later.

According to the autopsy report, Sergeant Bachus had in his system two antidepressants, the opiates oxymorphone and oxycodone, and Ativan for anxiety. The delirium he experienced in his final days was “most likely due to the interaction of his medications,” the report said.

Nearly 30 prescription pill bottles were found at the scene, most of them recently prescribed, according to the report.

Jerry Bachus pressed the Marine Corps and the Navy for more information about his brother’s death, but received no further explanations. “There was nothing accidental about it,” he said. “It was inevitable.”

Self-Medicating

The widespread availability of prescription medications is increasingly being linked by military officials to growingsubstance abuse, particularly with opiates. A Defense Department survey last year found that the illegal use of prescription drugs in the military had tripled from 2005 to 2008, with five times as many troops claiming to abuse prescription drugs than illegal ones like cocaine or marijuana.

The problem has become particularly acute in specialized units for wounded troops, where commanders say the trading of prescription medications is rampant. A report released last month by the Army inspector general estimated that up to a third of all soldiers in these Warrior Transition Units are overmedicated, dependent on medications or have easy access to illegal drugs.

Some of that abuse is for recreational purposes, military officials say. In response, the Army has taken several steps to tighten the monitoring of troops on multiple prescriptions in the transition units.

But in many cases, wounded troops are acquiring drugs improperly because their own prescriptions seem ineffective, experts say. They are self-medicating, sometimes to death.

“This is a huge issue, and partly it’s due to the availability of prescription drugs among returning troops,” said Dr. Martin P. Paulus, a psychiatrist at the University of California, San Diego, and the V.A. San Diego Medical Center. “Everyone knows someone who’ll say, ‘Hey, this worked for me, give it a try.’ ”

Corporal Endicott, for instance, died after adding the opiate painkiller methadone to his already long list of prescribed medications. His doctors said that they did not know where he got the narcotic and that they had not authorized it.

Corporal Endicott, who survived a roadside bomb explosion, was in heavy fighting in Afghanistan, where he saw other Marines killed. After returning from his third deployment, in 2007, Corporal Endicott told doctors that he was having nightmares and flashbacks and rarely left his house. After a car accident, he assaulted the other driver, according to medical records. Doctors diagnosed P.T.S.D. and came to suspect that Corporal Endicott had a traumatic brain injury.

Over the coming year, he was prescribed at least five medications, including the antidepressants Prozac andTrazodone, and an anti-anxiety medication. Yet he continued to have headaches, anxiety and vivid nightmares.

“He would be hitting the headboard,” said his father, Charles. “He would be saying: ‘Get down! Here they come!’ ”

On Jan. 29, 2008, Corporal Endicott was found dead in his room at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., where he had checked himself in for anger management after another car accident. He was 26.

A toxicologist detected at least nine prescription drugs in his system, including five different benzodiazepines, drugs used to reduce anxiety or improve sleep. Small amounts of marijuana and methadone — a narcotic that is particularly dangerous when mixed with benzodiazepines — were also found in his body.

His death prompted Marine Corps officials at Bethesda and Walter Reed Army Medical Center to initiate new procedures to keep Marines from inappropriately mixing medications, including assigning case managers to oversee patients, records show.

Whether Corporal Endicott used methadone to get high or to relieve pain remains unclear. The Marine Corps concluded that his death was not due to misconduct.

“He survived over there,” his father said. “Coming home and dying in a hospital? It’s a disgrace.”

Trying to Numb the Pain

Airman Mena also returned from war a drastically changed man. He had deployed to Iraq in 2005 but saw little action and wanted to go back. He got the chance in late 2006, when sectarian violence was hitting a peak.

After coming home, he spoke repeatedly of feeling guilty about missing patrols where a sergeant was killed and where several platoon mates were seriously wounded. Had he been driving on those missions, he told therapists, he would have avoided the attacks.

“On my first day, I saw a total of 12 bodies,” he said in one psychological assessment. “Over there, I lost faith in God, because how can God allow all these dead bodies?”

By the summer of 2008, he was on half a dozen medications for depression, anxiety, insomnia and pain. His back and neck pain worsened, but Air Force doctors could not pinpoint a cause. Once gregarious and carefree, Airman Mena had become perpetually irritable. At times he seemed to have hallucinations, his mother and friends said, and was often full of rage while driving.

In February 2009, he received an honorable discharge and was given a 100 percent disability rating by the Department of Veterans Affairs, meaning he was considered unable to work. He abandoned plans to become a police officer.

Now a veteran, his steady medication regimen continued — but did not seem to make him better. His mother, Pat Mena, recalls him being unable to sleep yet also listless, his face a constant shade of pale. Shocked by the piles of pills in his Albuquerque apartment, she once flushed dozens of old prescriptions down the toilet.

Yet for all his troubles, he seemed hopeful when she visited him in early July 2009. He was making plans to open a cigar store, which he planned to call Fumar. His mother would be in charge of decorating it.

The night after his mother left, he put on a new Fentanyl patch, a powerful narcotic often used by cancerpatients that he had started using just five weeks before. The Food and Drug Administration issued warnings about the patches in 2007 after deaths were linked to it, but a private clinic in Albuquerque prescribed the medication because his other painkillers had failed, records show.

With his increasingly bad memory, he often forgot what pills he was taking, his mother said. That night when he put on his new patch, he forgot to remove the old one. He died early the next day.

Was the Fentanyl the cause? Or was it the hydromorphone, another narcotic found in his system? Or the antidepressants? Or the sedative Xanax? Or all of the above?

The medical examiner could not say for sure, noting simply that the drugs together had caused “respiratory depression.”“The manner of death,” the autopsy concluded, “is accident.”

The Truth is Out There

© By M. SABEHEDDIN

“Ignorance…brought about anguish and terror. And the anguish grew solid like a fog and no one was able to see.”
- The Gospel of Truth, 17:10, Nag Hammadi Texts

“Humanity is asleep, concerned only with what is useless, living in a wrong world….Do not prattle before the People of the Path, rather consume yourself. You have an inverted knowledge and religion if you are upside down in relation to Reality. Man is wrapping his net around himself. A lion (the man of the Way) bursts his cage asunder.”
- The Sufi Master Sanai, teacher of Rumi, in The Walled Garden of Truth (1131 C.E.).

What role does conspiracy and cover-up play in the multifarious facets of life in the closing years of this twentieth century? Are powerful groups manipulating events as part of a long-range strategy to bring about a totally controlled global society? Does recognition of conspiracies lead to paranoia and delusion? Or does it actually explain events and thereby empower people?

It is not the purpose of this short article to examine the range of crimes, cabals and secret plots broadly covered by the word conspiracy. Nor do we intend to prove the existence of some international conspiracy at work in the crisis torn world of the 90s. What we want to touch on is the implications of conspiracy theories for personal transformation. What we want to explore here is a different way of seeing the world.

First let us define the meaning of that seemingly disturbing word: “conspiracy”. Webster’s International dictionary gives, as one connotation, “a combination of men for an evil purpose; a plot”. The Oxford Dictionary of English agrees, defining conspiracy as “a combination of persons for an evil or unlawful purpose; an agreement between two or more to do something criminal, illegal or reprehensible; a plot”.

If, as a significant number of researchers claim, it can be shown that influential – largely hidden – elites have knowingly combined their efforts in a plot(s) to manipulate and control people and events, then on the basis of the standard definition just cited, a conspiracy does indeed exist.

Readers who are accustomed (or is it conditioned?) to automatically regard any mention of conspiracy as irrational paranoia, will find this very subject a ‘problem’.

Jonathon Vankin, the author of two excellent books exploring a host of conspiracy theories, observes that, “The word ‘conspiracy’ may be a ‘problem’ for some, but only because it represents the unknown, mystery, and risk. Those are the things that grip the human mind and bring it to life. These ideas can only be a problem for those who wish to keep our minds under control.”

Last century the British politician, Benjamin Disraeli, a man of wide political experience, declared that “the world is governed by very different personages from what is imagined by those who are not behind the scenes.” This century U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt has been quoted as saying: “In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it happens, it was planned that way.”

“Ruling elites will use conspiracy,” states political scientist and activist Dr. Michael Parenti. “They will finance elections, publicity campaigns, publishing houses, wire services, and academic studies. They will use surveillance, mobsters, terrorists, assassins and death squads.”

Conspiracy researchers ‘look behind the dark curtain’ that shrouds history and the sacrosanct assumptions reinforcing contemporary society.

There really are, as investigative author Jim Hougan says, two kinds of history, the safe, sanitized “‘Disney version,’ so widely available as to be unavoidable…and a second one that remains secret, buried, and unnamed.”

This “second” version of history, Jonathon Vankin and John Whalen argue, does indeed have a name: “conspiracy theory.” According to the co-authors of 50 Greatest Conspiracies of All Time the official, safe “Disney” version of history “could just as easily be called the ‘New York Times version’ or the ‘TV news version’ or the ‘college textbook version.’ The main resistance to conspiracy theories comes not from people on the street, but from the media, academia, and government – people who manage the national and global economy of information.”

The structure of the modern world demands mass adherence to faith in the institutions that maintain the existing order and make it run. These institutions are innumerable: government, business, science, education, politics…and their survival is dependent on people’s faith in authority.

“We have to believe the institutions are functioning in our best interests,” wrote Vankin in his 1991 ground-breaking book Conspiracies, Cover-Ups and Crimes. “We have to believe what the people within those institutions assure us to be true.”

This is why ‘conspiracy theories’ are universally anathema to the Establishment. They directly challenge the status quo, undermining the blind faith of the ‘brainwashed’ masses in society’s machiavellian ‘leaders’!

Vankin quotes anthropologist Jules Henry as saying that “our civilization is a tissue of contradictions and lies.” Henry used the term “sham” for the everyday deceptions that reinforce this malignant society. “Sham gives rise to coalitions because usually sham cannot be maintained without confederates.” In other words, to keep the system afloat requires a conspiracy. “In sham,” Henry continues, “the deceiver enters into an inner conspiracy against himself.”

Acknowledging the conspiracies and cover-ups behind history and contemporary events means we can no longer lie to ourselves, like Colin Wilson’s “Outsider” who “cannot live in the comfortable insulated world of the bourgeois, accepting what he sees and touches as reality.”

Modern civilisation is a conspiracy against Reality.

R.D. Laing explains in The Politics of Experience how people are ‘conditioned’ and ‘brainwashed’ by modern society. Beginning with the children, Laing says, “It is imperative to catch them in time. Without the most thorough and rapid brainwashing their dirty minds would see through our dirty tricks. Children are not yet fools, but we shall turn them into imbeciles like ourselves, with high IQs if possible.

“From the moment of birth, when the Stone Age baby confronts the Twentieth century mother, the baby is subjected to these forces of violence, called love, as its mother and father, and their parents and their parents before them, have been. These forces are mainly concerned with destroying most of its potentialities, and on the whole this enterprise is successful. By the time the new human being is fifteen or so, we are left with a being like ourselves, a half-crazed creature more or less adjusted to a mad world. This is normality in our present age.”

In our conditioned environment we accept what we are told, largely without question. Society, or more precisely the ruling elites, define reality.

Central to every conspiracy is the suppression of specific information or the deliberate avoidance of certain key facts. Control of information is a mechanism of social control. If information is used by the ruling elites to programme and mentally enslave people, then information can be used to deprogramme and liberate them. Knowledge is the key to freedom.

According to the Sufis, the potential for clear, direct perception in man in his everyday life is largely frustrated by a distorting complex of sociopsychological conditioning factors. Often these appear in the seemingly innocuous forms of unfounded assumptions and expectations. Consequently man is ready mental putty in the hands of powerful manipulators. Conspiracies are detected only by the exercise of unfettered perception and thinking. Thus, conspirators must propagate a necessary level of confusion in those whom they seek to deceive and control.

The mere realisation of the existence and activities of various ‘conspiracies’ orchestrated by powerful ruling elites, has a largely liberating effect on a thinking individual, disclosing to him as it does the vast magnitude of the lies and deception incorporated in the various layers of official culture. The whole social structure, educational structure, economic and political structures are directly challenged.

Once a person realises that there is a ‘hidden history’ behind our so-called history, they invariably start to want to break away from the futile human pattern of seeing reality as it is not and thereby living a lie. They want to abandon the anaesthetic of ignorance and suppression within which man cocoons himself and to embrace the intensity of reality – as it is.

Conspiracies and cover-ups do exist. However, their underlying root cause is our own irresponsibility, ignorance and inactivity. The world tells us what we want to hear, giving us justifications for different states of irresponsibility. Civilization may well be destroying itself, but individuals don’t have to destroy themselves with it.

The modern world with its phobias, neurosis, contradictions and conflicts, is what we must overcome. We must break our links, sever our ties; plumb the depths of our unconsciousness, and cut the bonds with which we’ve bound ourselves.

Confronted by the intrigue of conspiracy and cover-up, we don’t react to the sham by constructing an equally dogmatic, paranoid worldview. Nor do we become down-cast, depressed or consumed with red-hot anger. There is no point in hiding away or running wildly in the street. Just be AWARE. From the inner certainty, clarity and calm of AWARENESS proceeds right and constructive action. Channel your anger, your fear, your hopes and dreams into TOTAL AWARENESS. By discerning society’s true condition you are free from the bonds of ignorance and no longer a pawn in the game. Awakening from the sleep of conditioned existence we can appreciate the words of the Sufi teacher Al Ghazzali: “The higher one ascends a mountain, the farther one sees.”

Some radical students of the Bible identify the existing social, political and economic order as “Babylon”. A name synonymous with a system of total oppression and exploitation, taken from the Book of Revelation. The government, the bureaucracy, indeed all worldly authorities are mere instruments of Babylon. Babylon, built on falsehood and sustained by ignorance, will one day come crashing down because of fundamental untruths. Awakened to the actual nature of this world, one’s life is that of exile. A stranger in a strange land. Conspiracy and cover-up is what we first encounter when we begin to perceive real life in Babylon.

“It may be that mankind has been invited to participate in a bizarre kind of contest with some undeclared cosmic opponents,” says Brad Steiger, a writer on the paranormal. “Man may have been challenged to play the Reality Game; and if he can once apprehend the true significance of the preposterous clues, if he can but master the proper moves, he may obtain a clearer picture of his true role in the cosmic scheme of things.”

US Subversion Behind Every Arab Uprising and Colored Revolution–(and the whole world knows it)

15 04 2011

“The recent ‘color revolutions’ in Georgia, Ukraine, and Kyrgyzstan and the widespread suspicion that U.S. groups such as the National Democratic Institute (NDI), the International Republican Institute (IRI), Freedom House [led by former CIA head James Woolsley, of Project for New American Century fame] and the Open Society Institute [created in 1993 by investor George Soros] played a key behind-the-scenes role in fomenting these upheavals have clearly helped trigger the backlash.”[8]

U.S. Groups Helped Nurture Arab Uprisings

By RON NIXON

WASHINGTON — Even as the United States poured billions of dollars into foreign military programs and anti-terrorism campaigns, a small core of American government-financed organizations were promoting democracy in authoritarian Arab states.

Andrea Bruce for The New York Times

Michael Simon, who worked on targeting for the Barack Obama presidential campaign of 2008, spoke last week to members of the Egyptian Democratic Academy in Cairo.

The money spent on these programs was minute compared with efforts led by the Pentagon. But as American officials and others look back at the uprisings of the Arab Spring, they are seeing that the United States’ democracy-building campaigns played a bigger role in fomenting protests than was previously known, with key leaders of the movements having been trained by the Americans in campaigning, organizing through new media tools and monitoring elections.

A number of the groups and individuals directly involved in the revolts and reforms sweeping the region, including the April 6 Youth Movement in Egypt, the Bahrain Center for Human Rights and grass-roots activists like Entsar Qadhi, a youth leader in Yemen, received training and financing from groups like the International Republican Institute, the National Democratic Institute and Freedom House, a nonprofit human rights organization based in Washington, according to interviews in recent weeks and American diplomatic cables obtained by WikiLeaks.

The work of these groups often provoked tensions between the United States and many Middle Eastern leaders, who frequently complained that their leadership was being undermined, according to the cables.

The Republican and Democratic institutes are loosely affiliated with the Republican and Democratic Parties. They were created by Congress and are financed through the National Endowment for Democracy, which was set up in 1983 to channel grants for promoting democracy in developing nations. The National Endowment receives about $100 million annually from Congress. Freedom House also gets the bulk of its money from the American government, mainly from the State Department.

No one doubts that the Arab uprisings are home grown, rather than resulting from “foreign influence,” as alleged by some Middle Eastern leaders.

“We didn’t fund them to start protests, but we did help support their development of skills and networking,” said Stephen McInerney, executive director of the Project on Middle East Democracy, a Washington-based advocacy and research group. “That training did play a role in what ultimately happened, but it was their revolution. We didn’t start it.”

Some Egyptian youth leaders attended a 2008 technology meeting in New York, where they were taught to use social networking and mobile technologies to promote democracy. Among those sponsoring the meeting were Facebook, Google, MTV, Columbia Law School and the State Department.

“We learned how to organize and build coalitions,” said Bashem Fathy, a founder of the youth movement that ultimately drove the Egyptian uprisings. Mr. Fathy, who attended training with Freedom House, said, “This certainly helped during the revolution.”

Ms. Qadhi, the Yemeni youth activist, attended American training sessions in Yemen.

“It helped me very much because I used to think that change only takes place by force and by weapons,” she said.

But now, she said, it is clear that results can be achieved with peaceful protests and other nonviolent means.

But some members of the activist groups complained in interviews that the United States was hypocritical for helping them at the same time that it was supporting the governments they sought to change.

“While we appreciated the training we received through the NGOs sponsored by the U.S. government, and it did help us in our struggles, we are also aware that the same government also trained the state security investigative service, which was responsible for the harassment and jailing of many of us,” said Mr. Fathy, the Egyptian activist.

Interviews with officials of the nongovernmental groups and a review of diplomatic cables obtained by WikiLeaks show that the democracy programs were constant sources of tension between the United States and many Arab governments.

The cables, in particular, show how leaders in the Middle East and North Africa viewed these groups with deep suspicion, and tried to weaken them. Today the work of these groups is among the reasons that governments in turmoil claim that Western meddling was behind the uprisings, with some officials noting that leaders like Ms. Qadhi were trained and financed by the United States.

Diplomatic cables report how American officials frequently assured skeptical governments that the training was aimed at reform, not promoting revolutions.

Last year, for example, a few months before national elections in Bahrain, officials there barred a representative of the National Democratic Institute from entering the country.

In Bahrain, officials worried that the group’s political training “disproportionately benefited the opposition,” according to a January 2010 cable.

In Yemen, where the United States has been spending millions on an anti-terrorism program, officials complained that American efforts to promote democracy amounted to “interference in internal Yemeni affairs.”

But nowhere was the opposition to the American groups stronger than in Egypt.

Egypt, whose government receives $1.5 billion annually in military and economic aid from the United States, viewed efforts to promote political change with deep suspicion, even outrage.

Hosni Mubarak, then Egypt’s president, was “deeply skeptical of the U.S. role in democracy promotion,” said a diplomatic cable from the United States Embassy in Cairo dated Oct. 9, 2007.

At one time the United States financed political reform groups by channeling money through the Egyptian government.

But in 2005, under a Bush administration initiative, local groups were given direct grants, much to the chagrin of Egyptian officials.

George W. Bush calls off Europe visit after arrest threat over torture of terror suspects

7 02 2011

HE WAS once mocked for his scant foreign travel. Now George W. Bush faces the prospect of a retirement confined to the United States after the cancellation of a trip to Switzerland amid fear of being prosecuted for torture.

The former president’s first trip to Europe since leaving office was called off after human rights groups lodged a complaint with the Swiss courts urging that he be prosecuted under international laws forbidding torture.

Mr Bush had been due to speak in Geneva on February 12 at a dinner for the pro-Israeli United Israel appeal. A lawyer for that organisation told Swiss media that the event had been cancelled because of the risk of violence at planned protests against Mr Bush.

But human rights groups, including the London-based Amnesty International and the New York-based Centre for Constitutional Rights, claimed a victory in their battle to have Mr Bush prosecuted for his role in ordering terror suspects to be tortured.

RELATED COVERAGE

The groups filed their complaint with the Swiss courts on Friday, accusing Mr Bush of torture based on the frank admission in his recent memoir, Decision Points, that he personally gave the go-ahead to the waterboarding of terror suspects held in CIA custody.

In the book Mr Bush recounts being asked by the CIA whether it could proceed with waterboarding the 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who was suspected of having information about plans for future attacks against the United States.

“Damn right,” Mr Bush writes of his reply, saying that the decision had saved lives and that he would not hesitate to make it again.

Amnesty International said that on Friday it had sent prosecutors “a detailed factual and legal analysis of President Bush’s criminal responsibility for acts of torture” and concluded “that Switzerland had enough information to open a criminal investigation”.

The Centre for Constitutional Rights said the complaint, which has yet to be filed with the courts, was made on behalf of two terror suspects, Majid Khan, who is being held at Guantanamo Bay, and Sami al-Hajj, a former al-Jazeera cameraman who was released in 2008.

The 2,500-page complaint under the Convention Against Torture, is to be released today in Switzerland.

“The message from civil society is clear: if you’re a torturer, be careful in your travel plans. It’s a slow process for accountability, but we keep going,” the organisation said.

Whether any prosecution could have arisen from the complaints remains unclear. A Swiss Foreign Ministry spokesman told reporters that the country’s justice ministry had concluded that Mr Bush was immune from prosecution for any alleged actions while in office. The human rights groups say there is no such immunity.

Amnesty said Switzerland was legally obliged to investigate if Mr Bush entered the country and to prosecute if grounds were found. Legal experts say it is unlikely that Swiss prosecutors would have been able to act swiftly enough to move to an arrest during Mr Bush’s brief visit. But the threat of an embarrassing diplomatic incident may have led to the decision to cancel the entire event.

Amnesty said: “Anywhere he travels, President Bush could face investigation and potential prosecution for his responsibility for torture and other crimes in international law.”

The situation raises parallels with that faced by Israeli officials such as the former foreign minister Tzipi Livni, who was forced to cancel a trip to Britain after a complaint was lodged in court over alleged Israeli war crimes in Gaza. British police would have been obliged to arrest her. The same could be true of Mr Bush if human rights groups were to pursue a complaint against him in British courts.

CIA Must Disclose Data on Human Experiments

By ANNIE YOUDERIAN

(CN) – A federal magistrate judge in San Francisco ordered the CIA to produce specific records and testimony about the human experiments the government allegedly conducted on thousands of soldiers from 1950 through 1975.
Three veterans groups and six individual veterans sued the CIA and other government agencies, claiming they used about 7,800 soldiers as human guinea pigs to research biological, chemical and psychological weapons.
The experiments, many of which took place at Edgewood Arsenal and Fort Detrick in Maryland, allegedly exposed test subjects to chemicals, drugs and electronic implants. Though the soldiers volunteered, they never gave informed consent, because the government didn’t fully disclose the risks, the veterans claimed. They were also required to sign an oath of secrecy, according to the complaint.
The veterans filed three sets of document requests to find out who was tested, what substances they were given, and how it affected them. Between October and April, the government produced about 15,000 pages of heavily redacted records, most of which related to the named plaintiffs only.
The CIA argued that much of the information requested was protected under the Privacy Act and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
U.S. Magistrate Judge James Larson acknowledged that some of the requests were too broad and ordered the veterans to be more specific and to reduce the total number of requests.
For example, Larson said the plaintiffs’ definition of "test program" is "overbroad," as it not only named experimental programs like "Bluebird," "Artichoke" and "MKUltra," but also included "any other program of experimentation involving human testing of any substance, including but not limited to ‘MATERIAL TESTING PROGRAM EA 1729.’"
He ordered the veterans to provide a list of specific test programs and test substances.
But once the plaintiffs narrow their requests, Larson said, they are entitled to most of the information. Each government agency must respond individually to each request, he said, and if an agency denies any request, it must explain — in sufficient detail — why the records are purportedly privileged.
The CIA has already claimed that some documents are protected under the state-secrets privilege, but Larson said the agency needs to be more specific. He asked for a "supplemental declaration explaining with heightened specificity" why the documents are considered state secrets. Because these documents might contain sensitive information, the judge allowed the CIA to file the declaration under seal.
Larson rejected the government’s bid to limit the scope of discovery, saying doing so "removes the remaining hurdle" for the CIA to respond to the veterans’ sets of requests.
"Defendants should respond in earnest to Plaintiffs’ discovery requests, regardless of any ongoing or prior searches, investigations, or litigation," Larson wrote. He said the government can’t limit disclosure to information about the six individual plaintiffs.
The CIA insisted discovery was unwarranted in its case, because it never funded or conducted drug research on military personnel.
     Larson wasn’t convinced.
"[T]his court rejects the conclusion that the CIA necessarily lacks a nexus to Plaintiffs’ claims, and orders the CIA to respond in earnest" to the veterans’ requests, "particularly because defendants have presented evidence that would appear to cast doubt on that conclusion," he wrote.
The government also tried to avoid deposition, claiming too much time had passed since the alleged experiments, and any witnesses familiar with the projects likely no longer work for the government. The CIA further argued, unsuccessfully, that the court should stay discovery until the Department of Defense completes its investigation of the experiments.
Larson reminded the CIA that it "cannot use the DoD investigation as an excuse to avoid discovery responsibilities."
He then addressed which topics are fair game for deposition, saying the government must produce witnesses to testify about the following: communication between the VA and test subjects on their health care claims; a 1963 CIA Inspector General report on an experiment called MKUltra, and the basis for each redaction on that report; the scope and conduct of document searches; the doses and effects of substances administered to test subjects; any contract or research proposals concerning the experiments; a confidential Army memo about the use of volunteers in research; all government-led human experiments from 1975 to date, but only those that involve specific drugs; and whether the government secretly administered MKUltra materials to "the patrons of prostitutes" in safe houses in New York and San Francisco, as the veterans claimed.
Judge Larson ruled for the CIA on other issues, however, saying the agency’s not required to testify about test subjects who withdrew their consent or refused to participate; devices allegedly implanted into certain test subjects; the alleged use of patients at VA hospitals as guinea pigs in chemical and biological weapons experiments; or the drug research studies conducted by Dr. Paul Hoch, who was purportedly funded by the government and caused the death of a patient named Harold Blauer.
Though Larson declined to sanction the government, as the veteranssought, he warned that he would impose sanctions for any "future unjustifiable discovery recalcitrance."
Named plaintiffs are the Vietnam Veterans of America, Swords to Plowshare, the Veterans Rights Organization, Bruce Price, Franklin D. Rochelle, Larry Meirow, Eric P. Muth, David C. Dufrane and Wray C. Forrest.

Making of suicide bombers

3 11 2010

[An excellent explanation by a medical professional, of a complex medical problem which has been created by CIA scientists and weaponized by American psy-warriors.  The root problem of the terror war is the suicide-bomber, young men and women who can be programmed like computers because of modern narcohypnosis techniques and the powerful narcotics which are used, that enable the technicians to override the subject's own will, even to the point of death.

The existence of this program is proof in itself that the United States sent its own trained suicide-bombers to New York City and Washington D.C., on September 11, 2001.]]

Making of suicide bombers

Dr G. Ayub

June 16th, 2010

There is general consensus about how suicide bombers are brainwashed in religious seminaries. They attack groups belonging to the opposite religious sects and supporters of American interests. But what about those who bomb innocent people in the market places who have no religious or political inclinations?  An investigative report following the carnage at Bhakar, traced the culprit to a Mullah in DIK who had links with Waziristan. The most disturbing part of the investigation showed that suicide bombers are randomly sold for Rs 1 million to Rs 1.5 million. The question is; are these bombers the culprits or themselves victims caught in the cobweb spread by their brutal handlers?

Brainwashing takes different forms. I remember a psychiatrist, who treated heroin addicts, telling me that the principle of his therapy was to replace addiction with addition. I didn’t know what he was talking about until I learned about how the treatment ran in sessions. First, the patient was detoxified followed by replacing heroin with a milder short-acting sedative; followed, again, by ‘Minimum Insulin Therapy (MIT)’ to help the addict gain weight and feel good about himself. After that, he was given a list of religious books to read. This was the most fascinating part of the therapy as at the end of finishing a book, the psychiatrist would discuss it with him and find out what he found interesting in it. Then he would do the same with the second book and the third and it went on and on for some time. Now and again, he would ask a religious scholar to join them in the discussions. According to him, it had a remarkable effect on the addict as he not only gave up heroin but also turned to religion. On my enquiry, he explained, “I replace one type of addiction with another; first hard drugs with milder drug and later milder drug with religion” It was then I realised, how skilfully he brainwashed his patients without hypnotising them in a conventional way.

Generally speaking, hypnosis is the main tool in brainwashing. As opposed to conventional brainwashing by the psychiatrists in medical fields; evidence is available where it is carried out in the fields of warfare. At the end of WWII and beginning of ‘Cold War’, President Truman authorized ‘Project Paperclip’ to exploit German scientists in detainment for American research in this field. These intellectuals, though ardent Nazis, were considered so vital to the “Cold War” effort, that they were taken to the US and Canada to deny the Soviet Union from such vital resources. That’s how mind control experimentation started secretly on a grand scale. It was at that time that James Forrestal, the US Secretary of Defence, pushed for the CIA to begin a ‘secret war’ against the Soviets.  In 1947, it was decided that the communist threat should be given priority over constitutional rights. It is interesting to find, that this theory was applied again in 2001 at the onset of the war against terrorism. Forrestal’s initiative led to the execution of psychological warfare operations (psy-ops) in Europe, using military bases to hide covert activities. A 1999 report to the Senate and the House said “between 1945 and 1955, 765 scientists, engineers, and technicians were brought to the US under Paperclip and similar programs.”

A declassified CIA document ‘Hypnotic Experimentation and Research, 10 February 1954’ talks of creation of unsuspecting assassins through mind control. According to the report, the agency originated its first program in 1950 under the name of ‘Bluebird’ which was changed to ‘Artichoke Mkultra’ after Britain and Canada were included in it. It was closed officially in 1964 but some of its programs remained active under ‘Mksearch’. In 1973, tipped off about forthcoming investigations, CIA Director ordered the destruction of ‘Mkultra’ records, some of which survived and surfaced as part of 16,000 page documents in the Agency’s financial history. According to Senator Frank Church, who led the congressional investigations of the CIA ‘s unlawful actions in 1976, the agency was “a rogue elephant operating above the law as it plotted assassinations, illegally spied on thousands of Americans, and even drugged our own citizens in its effort to develop new weapons for its covert arsenal”.

Apparently, those weapons were hypnotic techniques, operated through drugs and sensory deprivation, to split one’s personality followed by preparing subjects to respond to a post hypnotic trigger and perform acts which they wouldn’t remember later. A typical case was shown by P Janet, who asked a “deeply hypnotised female to commit several murders before a distinguished group of judges, stabbing some victims with a rubber dagger and poisoning others with sugar tablets” She did it without hesitation. In this way, research centres were developed making high power, very low frequency acoustic beam weapons that projected acoustics to produce ‘voices in the head’ akin to schizophrenic patients. The aim was to devise a system stimulating specific brain wave rhythms and alter the state of consciousness of individual subjects. They were exposed to extreme REM sleep deprivation added, sometimes, with selective drugs that make them incapable of resisting “suggestions”. With further work, such ‘suggestions’ were converted to “commands” with devastating consequences such as accepting to kill or be killed. It is known that REM sleep deprivation causes; reduced protein synthesis, loss of short term memory, confusion, impulsiveness, anger, frustration, diminished self-esteem, reduced productivity, apathy, depression and increased suggestibility.

We know that the subconscious mind plays a pivotal role in brainwashing by accepting ‘suggestions’. These suggestions are conveyed through acoustics or visuals or both.  And this became the principle of brainwashing in scientific way used in warfare. This type of brainwashing is different to the one practiced by the psychologists and psychiatrists. They use phonation as a ‘suggesting tool’ while scientists use visuals and acoustics for the purpose. For example, in case of visuals, ‘suggestions’ are conveyed to subconscious brain through rapid movement of frames at the speed of 30 per second. At this speed the conscious mind cannot recognize the message but the subconscious mind can with clarity. Thus a subject can be brainwashed while wide awake.

Similarly, the subconscious mind operates at a speed of about 1200 to 1400 words per minute. This is many times faster than the conscious mind that operates at 250 to 450 WPM (words per minute). It means that at a higher speed the conscious mind cannot recognize a message but the subconscious mind not only recognises it but reads it clearly and gets sensitised to it. This part of acoustic transmission has its own history. In the mid-1950s, certain psychtronic weapons of mass mind-control were tested by US military intelligence with the code name ‘the sound of silence’. It was perfected during the 70s and used extensively in the 90s. This mind-altering covert weapon is based on subliminal carrier technology called the Silent Sound Spread Spectrum (SSSS), also nicknamed S-Quad or “Squad” in military jargon. It was developed by Dr. Oliver Lowery of Norcross, Georgia. Using this technology, inaudible acoustic or vibrational desired messages are conveyed in very low; very high audio frequencies; or in ultrasonic frequency for inducement into the subconscious mind through the use of loudspeakers, earphones, or piezoelectric transducers. In layman’s terms, this device, allows for the unwarranted implantation of specific messages, thoughts, emotions, and even prescribed physical actions into unsuspecting human beings. In other words, it has the ability to turn human beings into mere puppets in the hands of their “controllers”.

This technology falls in ‘behavioural modification program, in which subjects go through three stages; pre-screen evaluation; process of standardisation; and process of extreme. Without going into details of each stage, it works out as follows;

A full study of the subject’s religious, superstitions, fears, and insecurities is made through standard subliminal interrogation techniques and behavioural observation. After having full control over the subject; his physical and mental condition is depleted by arresting his ability to communicate concisely, and making him dishonoured in the sight of local and federal law enforcement agencies to assure the subject’s testimony becomes questionable. Meanwhile, depending on the leanings of the subject, whether religious or non-religious, coincidence is used to create a perception that supernatural events are beginning in his life. A combination of posthypnotic commands and pre-information awarded to him prior to an upcoming experience that gives him a feeling that “God” or some other supernatural being is taking an interest in his life. The subject is then given a posthypnotic suggestion that a feeling of dread or loss is welling up inside him and he is directed to think of a particular loved one. With repetitions, he starts believing that he has special powers, insights, or communications from God or other super entities, which come as ‘voices’. In actual fact such voices may be transmitted as posthypnotic script at a pre-specified time from a nearby building. And what about those who are detained in places such as Bagram Base or Guantanamo Bay?

To quote an example; a declassified CIA document dated 7 January 1953 with a section heading “Outline of Special H Cases” describes the creation of multiple personalities in two 19-year old girls. “These subjects have clearly demonstrated that they can pass from a fully awake state to a deep hypnotic state by telephone, by receiving written matter, or by the use of code, signal, or words and that control of those hypnotized can be passed from one individual to another without great difficulty. It has also been shown by experimentation with these girls that they can act as unwilling couriers for information purposes.”G.H. Estabrooks was the only mind control doctor who publicly acknowledged in his book Spiritism that experiments were done to create multiple personalities. In another book, Hypnotism, he states that the creation of experimental multiple personality for operational use in military subjects, whom he refers to as super spies, is ethical because of the demands of war. In a 1971 article in Science Digest, he claimed to have created hypnotic couriers and counterintelligence agents for operational use.

Now, here is an interesting point I want to put forward. On October 27, 1992, the ‘Squad’ technology was patented for “privatization” commercial applications by Dr. Lowery, opening the door to private defence contractors to develop their own “intelligence systems”. No wonder the public showed concerns about Xe or Backwater Security Firm taking over buildings in Islamabad and other cities of the country and fortifying them. And what about the secret boxes delivered to the Marriot Hotel, Islamabad, without being checked just before a suicide bomber with a truckload of ammunition blasted himself? The next day, Rehman Malik linked the bomber with Waziristan.

Finally, a declaration, in a neuroscientist conference sponsored by the UN at Tokyo in 1999, read: “Today we have intellectual, physical and inancial resources to master the power of the brain itself, and to develop devices to touch the mind and even control or erase consciousness…We wish to profess our hope that such pursuit of knowledge serves peace and welfare” The question is; are the religious custodians and non-religious political gurus around the world use such fantastic resources for the benefit of religious synchronization and global political stability; or to gain  immoral supremacy, through intrigues, strife and wars? And isn’t it shameful that they pick up innocent youth, brainwash them and then turn them into suicide bombers.

Let There Be Light–Reconditioning Broken Soldiers

7 10 2010

[It is sometimes a wondrous thing, the way evidence of what you are investigating seems to drop out of nowhere.  That is the way it was with the following documentary on WWII psychological reconditioning of "psycho-neurotic" soldiers.  I didn't suspect that such a video even existed, until I came across it on my TV guide, playing on CurrentTV.  The majority of the young men and boys who went through the military's reconditioning program, documented here by maverick director, John Huston, were simply those who didn't want to be in the military, an unavoidable byproduct of the draft.  Others refused to adapt to the mold which the military was forcing upon them.  The reconditioning program was just another way to break the spirit of these boys and turn them into good little killing machines.

It is likely that the number of men with actual issues of traumatic shock syndrome then was no higher than in modern times.  The truth about this program was that it was calculated to increase the number of mentally fit troops, more than it was intended to help these men.  The only way that this treatment could have "helped" these men was to enable them to fit into the mold of a "good man" that the US Govt. had crafted for them.  The "inadequate soldier" was somehow, not quite a "man," in the military definition of manhood.  This was a "medical" cure for "gold-bricking," for those not "man enough" to kill their fellow man, or to fight wars for Imperialism.

My Dad was one of those guys, and he died a couple of weeks ago.  The effects of the damage done to his mind by the electroshock "therapy" and all the rest of the Nazi mind-sciences used upon him and his fellow inmates never left him until the day he died (SEE: Human Nature Is the Enemy of the State).]

Let There Be Light

At the request of the Signal Corps, John Huston made a wartime documentary of the emotionally disturbed war veterans being treated at Mason General Hospital. For three months, Huston immersed himself in the project, observing the various methods used to pull these shattered-in-spirit men out of their mental anguish, ranging from shock treatment to hypnosis. The key scene in Let There Be Light, as the film would be known upon its completion, a weeping veteran is brought back to the real world through the utilization of trance-inducing drugs. There is nothing that smacks of the sensational in this remarkable film, most certainly not the warm, reassuring narration of John Huston’s father Walter. Yet when Let There Be Light was scheduled for a private showing at the Museum of Modern Art, the army confiscated the film, refusing to allow its release to any civilian audience. Huston later determined that the army simply didn’t want the U.S. to see its fighting men as anything other than grinning, self-assured victors. Let There Be Light was not made available to the public until 1980, and then only on the special orders of vice-president Walter Mondale. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

‘LET THERE BE LIGHT,’ JOHN HUSTON VS. THE ARMY

By VINCENT CANBY

Published: January 16, 1981

FOR more than 30 years, the United States Army has been suppressing public showings of ”Let There Be Light,” one of the documentaries made for the Army Signal Corps by John Huston toward the end of World War II. That’s not to say the film has gone unheralded. The late James Agee wrote about it with enthusiasm in Time and The Nation in 1947 and 1948. Though the picture is now, at long last, opening a limited run today at the Thalia, the Army – which didn’t supply this print – apparently continues to be alarmed. At this late date, it’s difficult to see what the fuss is about.

”Let There Be Light” is a good, slickly made documentary about the treatment of psychoneurotic combat veterans at Mason General Hospital on Long Island. The treatment involved the thenrevolutionary use of truth drugs and hypnosis and, though the movie tells us more than once that the cures we see will have to be supported by long, intensive psychiatric care, the impression given and even encouraged by the film is of a series of miraculous cures.

With its voice-over narration (provided by Walter Huston), its use of wipes and dissolves and its full-orchestra soundtrack music, ”Let There Be Light” is an amazingly elegant movie, far different from the kind of documentaries we’re now used to and pioneered by such post-World War II film makers as Morris Engel, Robert Drew, D.A. Pennebaker, Richard Leacock and Albert and David Maysles.

Its studied look may have the effect of softening the movie’s impact on today’s audiences, who’ve grown up seeing riots, wars and assassinations live-and-in-color on their home television screens.

Yet it’s not difficult to understand the force of the film. Among the patients we see from their arrival at Mason General through their treatments, cures and releases are men suffering from amnesia, hysterical paralysis, stuttering and acute melancholia.

In the late 40′s, the Army seemed to feel that the film would scare off potential recruits. In his recently published autobiography, ”An Open Book,” Mr. Huston reports the Army justified its censorship on the grounds that a public showing of the film would invade the privacy of the soldiers. He also reports, in passing, that he photographed some patients being given shock treatment, though there are no such scenes in the print being shown at the Thalia.

Also on the Thalia bill is ”Independence Day,” an independent feature about black workers in Los Angeles, which was reviewed in The New York Times on Nov. 10, 1976, when it opened at the Whitney Museum of American Art.

CIA Used LSD To Alter America’s Mind

A Rat in the Kitchen

A new account of the drama surrounding the Harvard Psychedelic Club elaborates on the betrayal of Timothy Leary and Richard Alpert

By Gary Singh

JUST WHEN everyone thought the final penny whistle had sounded on Timothy Leary and the ’60s LSD spectacle, along comes veteran journalist Don Lattin. Author of numerous articles and books covering both mainstream and alternative religious movements, Lattin now brings us a rigorously honest exploration of interconnected relationships under a fine-looking circus of a title:The Harvard Psychedelic Club: How Timothy Leary, Ram Dass, Huston Smith and Andrew Weil Killed the Fifties and Ushered in a New Age for America.

Most people already know the crux of the story. In the early ’60s, Leary and Richard Alpert ran the Harvard Psychedelic Club, formerly the Harvard Psilocybin Project, a school-sponsored drug research project at the university of the same name. They repeatedly dosed grad students, professors and religious scholars with a new drug called LSD, which was then legal. At least in the initial stages, they advocated strict control of the situation, believing that the drug should be administered in a safe setting by someone ready to deal with whatever happened. Leary and Alpert envisioned that LSD could give people mystical and religious experiences. For a passing moment they even thought it could help cure alcoholism.

Number three on the bill was Huston Smith, a student of world religions. Smith, now 90, took part in the initial experiments, but ultimately went his own way, having no use for the ensuing media hysteria that Leary was actually helping accelerate. As Leary went on to milk the publicity in and out of prison, Alpert also eventually bailed from the hoopla, but he went to India and came back as Ram Dass—still a world-renowned spiritual guru spending his final days in Hawaii.

The fourth and final title character is none other than Andrew Weil, everyone’s favorite bearded holistic health honcho. But here’s the part never before elaborated: Weil was an undergraduate working for the Harvard school newspaper when Leary and Alpert first unleashed their drug research project. It was Weil who penned hit pieces denigrating the two, articles that played a significant role in getting them booted out of Harvard. Weil disingenuously investigated the drug program as a journalist while at the same time spilling all the details to the Harvard administration, which was gunning for dirt on Leary and Alpert. In other words, he ratted out his own sources. To this day, Dass appears not to have forgiven Weil for what he did.

Harvard Divinity School graduate and Santa Cruz resident Paul Lee was also there during those days. He took part in some of the drug experiments and likewise harbors a tad of rancor about Weil’s machinations. Lattin quotes him extensively in the following passage:
Nearly half a century after Weil brought down Leary and Alpert, … others involved in the affair were still mad about the whole series of events. “I hope Andrew Weil is ashamed about what he did,” said Paul Lee, sitting in his backyard in Santa Cruz, California, in the spring of 2008. “He is the top guy on my list to punch out if I ever meet him. He was a spy for the administration. He went around interviewing people, including me, then reported it to the administration. I told him things candidly and in confidence and he betrayed me. He submitted my interview to the authorities. That was dirty pool. He was just out to get fame by doing in Leary and Alpert.”
Speaking over the phone last week, Lee briefly reflected on those days.

“It was an odd assemblage, Alpert and Huston,” he told me. “Huston was an important critic of the whole thing, and he was good at it.”

When it comes to Weil’s role, Lee says now, almost 50 years later, he’s relieved that the story is finally being told. He’s getting his revenge.

“Now I don’t have to punch him out when I see him. Or pull his beard real hard.”

Both Lee and Robert Forte—another current Santa Cruz resident—were instrumental in trying to get Leary’s son Jack to reconcile with his estranged father as Leary lay in his deathbed in 1996. Jack hadn’t seen his father in years. Forte accompanied Jack Leary on the plane to Los Angeles in order to see his dad, and Paul Lee paid for the flight. But things didn’t go well when son met father.

“We were hoping that they would reconcile, or that Jack would at least show up,” Lee recalls in the book. “I’m not sure it really worked. It was pretty frigid. Tim was pleased to see him, but Jack was real stiff.”

All in all, instead of a straight-up journalistic approach, Lattin chose to write the book as creative nonfiction, noting up-front that most of the dialogue is his “rendition” of what was actually said in conversations. Going against his innate journalistic instincts, he claims he re-created the dialogue based on other folks’ memories of what went down. In any event, the book successfully highlights the synchronistic arrival of four
now-legendary figures at Harvard and how their interrelations provided some of the initial conditions for the large-scale chaos that the ’60s became. The result is a characteristically nonlinear history, and Lattin tells it the way it should be told, highlighting the interconnections between the nodes and exploring avenues just for the sake of exploring.

And speaking of exploring, in the last chapters Lattin shares with us that the idea for the book started because he himself was newly sober and needed to do some self-renovation. “So, in the end, perhaps this book is about me,” he writes. “It might also be about you. It’s the story of four men whose lives provide a kind of master narrative—a template through which some of us may hear our own stories and, in the process, learn a little something about ourselves.”

ISV enlists in Defence program

Department of Defence’s collaborative program with IT industry snaps up Adelaide-based artificial intelligence software developer.

Spandas Lui

Independent software vendor (ISV), Intelligent Software Development, has joined the Department of Defence’s innovation program as an Associate.

The Rapid Prototyping, Development and Evaluation (RPDE) program was established in 2006 as an initiative to facilitate effective collaboration between the Department and a broad range of industries to aid in network-centric warfare. Participants range from engineering firms, IT organisations and universities.

While the company is only two years old, Intelligence Software managing director, Dr Don Perugini, said he was familiar with Government and Defence projects and is confident the ISV’s Behavioural Simulation technology, an environment and population modelling software, will find be useful in this program.

“We think there are many uses for this type of technology in Defence,” Dr Perugini said. “It’s a sophisticated modelling software that can model human centric environments and can provide a lot of insight to how to influence human behaviours across a whole population.

“It could be used for intelligence or what Defence calls psychological operations [PsyOps] to deduce how to influence a population to get the best outcome for a particular operation.”

The technology has mainly been used to guide government environmental policies and defence applications. Having spent more than 10 years in the Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO), Dr Perugini said he would remain focused in the two verticals but saw potential to branch out to other areas.

“There is a lot of scope in the business market research sector and other industries,” he said. “I guess we will get there over time but right now we are being fairly specific.”

RPDE operates on a project-by-project basis. Intelligence Software will contribute to the program when needed.

Doctors Aiding Torture

Doctors Aiding Torture

Bosnian prisoner medical records confirmed that medical staff were present during their interrogations “and authorized (them) to proceed.” Medical personnel monitored Mohammed al Qahtani’s interrogation during nearly two months of “severe sleep deprivation and physical stress.” At one point, they rushed him to the base hospital when his heart rate dropped dangerously low. After stabilization, they returned him the next day for more interrogation. Other prisoners described doctors performing unnecessary and abusive procedures, including forced amputations, after which they were denied proper treatment. Psychiatrists and psychologists designed “extreme interrogation techniques as part of the Behavioral Science Consultation Team (BSCT).” In late 2002, it was tasked “to torment detainees in interrogations….” – Stephen Lendman

In April 2009, a confidential February 2007 ICRC torture report was publicly released. Titled, “ICRC Report on the Treatment of Fourteen ‘High Value Detainees’ in CIA Custody,” it detailed harsh and abusive treatment from their time of arrest, detention, transfer, and incarceration at Guantanamo where ICRC professionals interviewed them.

Besides detailed information on torture and abusive treatment, they obtained damning, consistent detainee accounts of medical personnel involvement, including:

– their monitoring of and direct participation in torture procedures;

– instructing interrogators to continue, adjust, or stop certain ones;

– informing detainees that medical treatment depended on their cooperation;

– performing medical checks before and after each transfer; and

– treating the effects of torture as well as ailments and injuries during incarceration.

Condoning or participating in torture grievously breaches medical ethics and the 1975 World Medical Association (WMA) Declaration of Tokyo “Guidelines for Physicians Concerning Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment in Relation to Detention and Imprisonment.” It states:

– in all cases at all times, “physician(s) shall not countenance, condone or participate in” torture or any other form of abuse;

– they “shall not use nor allow to be used (their) medical knowledge or skills, or health information” to aid interrogation in any way;

– they “shall not be present during any procedure during which torture or any other forms of cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment is used or threatened;”

– they “must have complete clinical independence” in treating persons for whom they’re medically responsible; and

– WMA encourages the international community and fellow physicians to support medical professionals who face “threats or reprisals resulting from a refusal to condone” all forms of torture and abuse.

Protocol I of the 1949 Geneva Conventions states:

“Persons engaged in medical activities shall neither be compelled to perform acts or to carry out work contrary to, nor be compelled to refrain from acts required by, the rules of medical ethics or other rules designed for the benefit of the wounded and sick, or this Protocol.”

On July 7, 2005 in the New England Journal of Medicine, Dr. Gregg Bloche and Jonathan Marks published an article titled, “Doctors and Interrogators at Guantanamo Bay” in which they cited evidence that “Health information (was) routinely available to behavioral science consultants and others” engaged in interrogations, in violation of strict medical ethics.

In early 2003, detainee medical records were readily available, and since late 2002, psychiatrists and psychologists were involved in crafting extreme stress techniques “combined with behavior-shaping rewards to extract actionable intelligence from resistant captives.”

“Wholesale disregard for clinical confidentiality” seriously breaches medical ethics “since it makes every caregiver into an accessory to intelligence gathering.” It also “puts prisoners at greater risk for serious abuse.”

In July 2006, the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) published a report titled, “Report on Torture and Cruel, Inhuman, and Degrading Treatment of Prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba” that included evidence of medical personnel involvement in torture.

Detainee Othman Abdulraheem Mohammad was told that medical treatment would depend on his cooperation. Lakhdar Boumediene said every time he requested care he was told to ask permission from his interrogators. They “controlled his access, (and it) was granted or denied based on the interrogator’s assessment of his level of cooperation.”

Bosnian prisoner medical records confirmed that medical staff were present during their interrogations “and authorized (them) to proceed.”

Medical personnel monitored Mohammed al Qahtani’s interrogation during nearly two months of “severe sleep deprivation and physical stress.” At one point, they rushed him to the base hospital when his heart rate dropped dangerously low. After stabilization, they returned him the next day for more interrogation.

Other prisoners described doctors performing unnecessary and abusive procedures, including forced amputations, after which they were denied proper treatment.

Psychiatrists and psychologists designed “extreme interrogation techniques as part of the Behavioral Science Consultation Team (BSCT).” In late 2002, it was tasked “to torment detainees in interrogations….”

International and US Laws Prohibiting Torture

Numerous international and US laws unequivocally ban torture under all conditions at all times with no allowed exceptions ever, for any reasons, including in times of war.

The Third Geneva Convention covers war prisoners and detainees. It prohibits torture and protects their right to be treated humanely against “violence to life and person (and) humiliating and degrading treatment” as well as to judicial fairness and proper medical treatment. The Fourth Geneva Convention affords the same rights to civilians in times of war.

The federal anti-torture statute (18 USC, 2340A) prohibits its use outside the US and defines it as “an act committed by a person acting under the color of law specifically intended to inflict severe physical or mental pain or suffering….upon another person within his custody or physical control.”

The 1991 Torture Victims Protection Act authorizes civil suits in America against individuals, acting in an official capacity for a foreign state, who committed torture and/or extrajudicial killing.

The 1984 UN Convention Against Torture bans all forms of torture, cruel and degrading treatment in all circumstances at all times with no exceptions ever allowed.

The US Constitution’s Fifth, Eighth and Fourteenth Amendments prohibit cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment or punishment.

The US Army’s Field Manual 27-10 states that military or civilian persons may be punished for committing war crimes (that include abusive interrogations) under international law. Army Field Manual 34-52 outlines interrogation procedures and specifically prohibits force, mental torture, threats, and inhumane treatment.

The Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) bans cruelty, oppression, actions intended to degrade or humiliate, and physical, menacing, and threatening assaults. Army Regulation (AR) 190-8 protects detainees from violence, assaults, and insults, and directs that they be treated humanely with respect.

The 1996 US War Crimes Act prohibits grave Geneva Convention breaches, including (as stipulated under Common Article III) “violence to life and person, in particular murder of all kinds, mutilation, cruel treatment and torture (as well as) outrages upon personal dignity, in particular humiliating and degrading treatment.”

Other binding international laws also prohibit torture, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the 1992 International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights with no exceptions or justifications allowed, such as orders by field commanders, Pentagon officials, or the President of the United States.

Physicians for Human Rights (PHR)

Founded in 1986, PHR “mobilizes health professionals to advance health, dignity, and justice and promotes the right to health for all.” It also “investigates human rights abuses and works to stop them” in conflict zones, US prisons, and offshore detention facilities where torture is routinely practiced.

In 2005, it published a report titled, “Break Them Down: Systematic Use of Psychological Torture by US Forces,” which it called the first comprehensive examination of “the use of psychological torture by US personnel in the so-called ‘war on terror,’ ” including sensory deprivation, prolonged isolation, sleep deprivation, forced nudity, using fierce dogs to instill fear, cultural and sexual humiliation, mock executions, and threatened violence against loved ones.

It called the effects devastating and longer-lasting than physical torture, and said psychological abuse is morally reprehensible and illegal under international and US law.

In August 2009, PHR published a new report titled, “Aiding Torture: Health Professionals’ Ethics and Human Rights Violations Revealed in the May 2004 CIA Inspector General’s Report,” including ethical misconduct not previously known. It revealed the role of health professionals involved “at every stage in the development, implementation and legitimization of this torture program.”

It explained that doctors and psychologists actively participated in abusive interrogations and contributed to the physical and mental suffering of detainees. It called their actions “an unconscionable affront to the profession of medicine,” made worse by experimenting on inmates, then “aggregat(ing) data on (their) reaction to interrogation methods.”

PHR’s Steven Reisner said “They were experimenting and keeping records of the results,” a war crime under Geneva and the Nuremberg Code that requires “voluntary consent” of human subjects and prohibits experiments:

– that inflict “unnecessary physical and mental suffering and injury;”

– if there’s “an a priori reason to believe death or disabling injury will occur;” and

– from being implemented if there’s reason to believe they’ll cause “injury, disability, or death to the experimental subject.”

PHR’s report detailed the psychological and medical effects:

– forced shaving inflicts psychological harm “by means of humiliation, both personal and religious;”

– hooding disorients and causes acute anxiety depression, depersonalization, and abnormal behavior;

– dietary manipulation inflicts discomfort and psychological stress;

– prolonged diapering causes physical and psychological stress and harm;

– walling inflicts physical injuries as well as psychological stress, rage, and helplessness;

– confinement in a box in extreme stress positions causes extreme physical and psychological pain and trauma; and

– other abuses, including waterboarding that simulates drowning and the feeling of helplessness to prevent it.

Involvement of Medical Professionals

They help develop, implement, provide cover for, and justify torture and abusive practices. They’re actively involved in designing harmful interrogation techniques in clear violation of the law and medical ethics. They’re “complicit in selecting and then rationalizing (methods) whose safety and efficacy in eliciting accurate information have no valid basis in science.” Their actions constitute “a practice that approaches unlawful experimentation.”

CIA guidelines require health professionals, including a doctor and psychologist, to be present during enhanced interrogations, “thereby placing (them) in the untenable position of calibrating harm rather than serving as protectors and healers as” their ethical code demands.

They also participate in initial physical and psychological assessments, then monitor all subsequent interrogations. They know their actions are harmful, unethical, and illegal, yet they serve willingly.

PHR believes they should be investigated on charges of “alleged criminal conduct.” Those proved guilty should be prosecuted, lose their license, professional society memberships, and any standing in the medical community henceforth.

Truth Jihad Radio Discusses Psychiatric Abuse–Saturday

Dr. Kevin Barrett of Truth Jihad focuses on medical professionals’ collaboration with CIA mind-control manipulators in torture/interrogation tactics used at Guantanamo,  Abu Gharib and elsewhere.  “Weaponizing Psychology” to be included.
This Saturday on Truth Jihad Radio, Dr. William Woodward, professor of psychology at the University of New Hampshire, will deliver his professional opinion concerning the respective sanity of Clare Swinney and the psychiatrists who institutionalized her for believing that 9/11 was an inside job. Then Clare Swinney herself will join us to tell her amazing, outrageous story. For details, see:

Clare is a journalist from New Zealand who began reporting on the holes in the official story of 9/11 and was subsequently threatened and finally incarcerated in the summer of 2006. During that same summer, Sean Hannity was calling me “a nut” and Bill O’Reilly was suggesting I should be killed in a mafia hit because I thought 9/11 was an inside job…while William Woodward, another 9/11-truth-seeking college teacher, was also being targeted by the forces of treason.

Psychology professor William Woodward tells me he will be consulting with a clinical psychologist in studying the horrendous ordeal of Clare Swinney and delivering his professional opinion.

We will also be discussing the larger subject of psychiatric abuse (see Weaponizing Psychology).

Somebody’s crazy here…but who? Find out this Saturday, August 27th, on Truth Jihad Radio, 5-7 pm Central, http://www.americanfreedomradio.com (to be archived at http://www.americanfreedomradio.com/Barrett_09.html).

Gravatar I would like to point out to author Peter Chamberlain that the American Psychological Association was founded by members of Skull & Bones and may be assumed to remain under that organization's ultimate control, however well-hidden.Skull & Bones alumni have fanned out through our society since their founding in 1832 to take control of every pressure point: in politics, the judiciary, academia (they also founded the American Historical Association so they could control history professorships and what went into the textbooks) finance, the military, intelligence, and industry.

We should not be surprised that the end result of the American Psychological Association is a "weaponization" of what they have learned over the decades; that was the intent from the beginning.

Gravatar "If this is the case, then they are running scared, fearful that all that they have invested in controlling the minds of Americans and the world have been wasted. Either truth means that they have become even more dangerous"Never a truer word...
Their game is up and they sense it, but their millennial habit of control lends them a high level of self assurance. This , coupled with their total disregard for humanity and their relishing of misery and pain in others leads one to suspect that they will lash out with everything at their disposal, very soon.
What they have at their disposal is, of course, us.
The answer is, of course, for ALL of us to say NO.
The question is: Can we reach enough button pushers and trigger pullers in time?
Or do we have to cross the river of pain in order to finally get to the other side and have mastery of ourselves, free at last?
Something tells me the latter.
Time is very short now. Many of their plans are in motion, many of their preparations made, the juggernaut of misery is picking up speed and heading our way.
Fear nothing.
Believe nothing.
Be confident of our eventual victory, the victory of peace over war, the victory of love over hate.
Here lies the only future for mankind.
This is the path we must follow if we are finally to discover what a wonderful world this can be, free of these vengeful, deceitful, monstrous parasites.

Gravatar Seligman is from the University of Pennsylvania?Isn't that the university with a notorious history of heinous animal abuse in its laboratories? I seem to remember a "home movie" their researchers made -- laughing it up and partying while they clubbed monkeys for their head injury so-called research. Would it be accurate to say these unethical, inhumane researchers have been torturers all along, so it is natural for them to extrapolate from animals to humans? Exploitation is the name of the game played by people like this.

Gravatar Silent Weapons for Quiet Warshttp://www.paranoiamagazine.com/ ...entweapons.html

THE DRAFT
'Few efforts of human behavior modification are more remarkable or more effective than that of the socio-military institution known as the draft. A primary purpose of a draft or other such institution is to instill, by intimidation, in the young males of a society the uncritical conviction that the government is omnipotent. He is soon taught that a prayer is slow to reverse what a bullet can do in an instant. Thus, a man trained in a religious environment for eighteen years of his life can, by this instrument of the government, be broken down, be purged of his fantasies and delusions in a matter of mere months. Once that conviction is instilled, all else becomes easy to instill. Even more interesting is the process by which a young man's parents, who purportedly love him, can be induced to send him off to war to his death.'

Gravatar "Every one of these programs is geared towards finding and exploiting the human breaking point."This is something they learned from zionists. The mossad uses psycho analysis in their operations the way truck drivers use diesel. These programmes are one of the main purposes of all those corporate think tanks. If one could see what the papers these think tanks write up for "private use" among their beneficiaries, the experiments the nazis carried out would seem mundane in comparison. Most of what is considered psychology is used to manipulate others to do or be things against their will. Either as a mass of people or as individuals.

This is one of those "professions" that is worse than lawyering.

Gravatar The evil pseudo-science of psychology:
Psychology shares it birth as an ideology with another ideology created at about the same time. It’s called Zionism.Germany. 1879: A person known as Wilhelm Wundt advances a hypo-thesis.

“Mankind is an animal. It is driven by basic, instinctive, self-centered needs. There is no spirit just a chemical organism that has evolved to it’s current level. Uncontrolled, criminality with always take root due to the inherently self-centered evil nature of man.” (Paraphrased).

This hypo-thesis was eagerly seized upon by Germany’s leader, Otto Von Bismarck a notorious fascist. At the time, there were new theories by Charles Darwin concerning the origins of humanity, a Swede named Nobel had developed high explosive and HotchKiss had developed the machine gun.

In order to start the mass killing a theory was needed which made it okay to kill humans (because they are only animals).

There’s nothing more profitable to European central bankers as warfare. Unsurprisingly this theory was trumpeted throughout the bank controlled media and further research generously financed. German Jews developed a new, spin-off ideology called Zionism. This was mainly the same theory but that mankind was descended from insects and only a chosen godly people could rule and control them.

Because Mankind was now officially and authoritatively “only an animal” then a new branch of science called Eugenics could be born. Animal husbandry and culls for the genetically inferior.

Sigmund Freud later work became the basis for a new science called Propaganda. This was exported to the US were it became PR and manipulation of the masses through hidden messages and the basis for modern advertising.

You have to understand that the mindset of these people is that we are animals that must be controlled. They see themselves as the only good people around saving us from imaginary evils that exist only in their twisted and evil minds.

In truth, everything they are trying to do to humanity is justified by a single unproven hypo-thesis. Like the global warming world tax scam “The science is settled” – “There’s a scientific concensus” these evil beings believe in this with a religious zeal. (Which is why some people think Zionism is a religion).

To further demonstrate this garbled madness, they call this murder inducing cult “Psychology”.
Breaking the word down we find it come from Greek; Psyche: Meaning spirit, soul or elan vital. The other part is Logis meaning logic and gy the suffix that extends it to the “study of”. So the word Psychology means the study of the human soul or spirit.

But hold on a minute, if the first law of psychology is that mankind is an animal without a spirit or soul how could any rational or educated people call it psychology?

The answer is that these are not rational people they are the mirror image of good in that they are inherently evil. They compulsively reverse or turn logic on it’s head to bring about chaos and confusion so that they can hide amongst normal people.

When people talk of a spiritual awakening have we ever wondered how the spirit went to sleep? Psychology is an evil fraud. It all built on one flimsy premise that never been examined but only promoted by authoritarian regimes.

Google “The father of modern psychology” or look it up on Wikipedia. Know your enemy and the pathetically flimsy munbo-jumbo witchcraft it’s based on.

Personally I believe that I am a spirit that has a body. I think that we all are. I see it in little children as they learn to talk, I see happiness and laughter spreading through the air and affecting others. I often wonder what sort of world we could live in if we got rid of this small minority of socially unwell evil spirits.

Gravatar Before I start this rant, I have to make it clear that I believe there exists a very well-intentioned, well-thought out and ethical backbone of psychology in the US that has helped to improve the lives of many, many people.But….

This article is a powerful, simple and clear explanation that connects the dots to the daily participation of thousands of mental health professionals. Where are your voices? Your silence is deafening. How many psychologists/psychiatrist/mental health professionals read this website, and how many of you are telling it like it is? How come I hear so few of your voices even though you are trained to evaluate, penetrate, and deconstruct hidden meanings/motivations and resulting behaviors? For example, how prevalent is the use psychological testing and how it becomes the primary determinant of “behavioral modification”. And how many children are diagnosed with ADD/ADHD, autism, and a host of other diagnoses from the disabused DSM IV, only to be recommended for further psychiatric medication, removal from schools, households, forced treatment, and total annihilation of parental rights and responsibilities? How many of you are asking pertinent/challenging questions of your coworkers, trainers, and supervisors, in spite of hauling in that big fat paycheck? What about the dasterdly Synanon model of drug and alcohol treatment seamlessly merged with 12 Steps that teaches helplessness, powerlessness, and brutal confrontation to break down the ‘addict’ to admit their fatal flaws that they are told they can never escape from until death?

When my daughter tried marijuana in her junior year of high school for the first time on what the kids call ‘national marijuana day’, the school used her to make an example of a straight, normal, and good student. The school ruined her junior year even though the forced drug evaluation revealed a healthy, non-addicted youngster who was experimenting. When they insisted that she be pulled out of class twice a week for drug treatment, after suspending her for 10 days and getting her irrevocably behind in her school assignments, I told them they could stick it where the sun doesn’t shine. Yes, this was with the participation of the school counselor and the vice principle. But being a mental health professional myself, I called them on their game of ‘Zero Tolerance’. But I guess she got off lucky, because her other high school buddy got shot in the back and murdered by the police because his mother called 911 thinking she would get a mental health team for her drunk son, but instead got a firing squad. Hey, what was the reaction of the mental health community about this? DEAFENING SILENCE! A mental health coworker actually said to me that the boy must have done ‘something to deserve it’. It is utterly shocking that our profession has devolved to becoming the right hand of the monster that is forming a society steeped in mass hopelessness, mass capitulation.

The point of these anecdotal stories is to point out that our combined but individual power to fight this insidious paradigm of learned helplessness lies within each of us and it is bigger than the combined power of the war machine. Every new day offers each of us plenty of opportunity to chip away at this very real threat to our humanity.

Gravatar Danny Cunningham: You have reduced “psychology” to meaninglessness, and you have no idea what you are talking about when you put the whole field of psychology into this ‘evil’ category. Mind control IS the opposite of the goals of psychology. “Learned helplessness” is a label that researchers gave to aspects of human behavior under certain conditions, but that does not define “psychology” in it’s essence at all.

Gravatar Danny Cunnington…good information there and I hear what you say.
Have seen a few psychco’s myself over the years and one would always leave feeling like you wanted to throw yourself under a bus,I have listened to them talk about other clients and rather than constructive analysis it was indeed destructive.
I personally believe that they must be avoided at all costs as they will perpetuate the “condition” they label you with and once labelled they then ramp up the “therapy” THEY believe you need based on that “label”.Mind control is alive and well within the practice of psycho’s..logy and I know this from personal experience, very dangerous and must be avoided at all costs.Psychiatry is only about dishing out mind altering pills…a friend of mine was a psychiatrist for many years and her job,she said, was to keep the clients cupboard full of pills and nothing more.
Psychologists also do this.

To sum up…The army say’s,come to us and we’ll look after you,but neglect to tell you that the absolute bottom line is to turn you into killing machines…Psychology/psychiatry say’s,come to us we’ll look after you,but neglect to tell you that we will leave you feeling confused and we have many varieties of mind altering pills that I will advise you to take….do not take them as you will end up PSYCHO’S like they are….Evil training is alive and well within these organisations and it is getting worse.

Gravatar @nowheretohide. It’s not me that has reduced “psychology to meaningless. I’m referring to the basic foundation of Psychology as expostulated by Wilhelm Wundt. I’m sure there are many individuals involved in the field of psychology who do so out of a desire to help and assist and that people have been generally helped in many ways.My basic premise is that this is not a science because it’s founding principle has no scientific basis. I see from your post that you are a practitioner but I also think what you practice on one level is very different from that practiced at another level.

The expostulate as “Man as an animal” was and is used as a justification by all tyrants and totalitarian regimes to attack the human condition or at least those in western history since then.

It was exported to Russia and taken up by the likes of Pavlov (Mankind is a dog) The British developed a new form of prison camp known as a “concentration” camp for the South African Boers who were been robbed by Rothschild agent Cecil Rhodes. It has formed the basis for mass killing through warfare ever since and there are few that would argue that the 20th and the fist bit of the 21st century have not been a period were millions have been senselessly slaughtered all for the desires and wishes of a small minority of evil and inherently anti-social so-called leaders.

All this for an unproven hypo-thesis. Man is an animal. At the end of my preceding post you can examine my hypo-thesis it’s relatively simple just like that proposed by Wilhelm Wundt.

I believe that I’m a spirit that has a body. I believe everyone else is too. There’s no scientific basis for my proposal just as there isn’t any scientific basis for that of Mr Wundt’s.

The difference is that the man as a animal has been endorsed by tyrants and led to untold human misery ever since. Man as a spirit, possessing a body is just as valid without the need for mass murder and control through fear and intimidation.

The main problem with the “man as an animal who must be controlled” is that many people don’t need to be told that it wrong to steal, cheat or kill. This is not something that they need to think because it’s something they know and have always known. It makes much more sense to cooperate and work together. Self-centered basic nature makes no sense when you consider that no one could survive alone and need cooperation. It reasonable to assume that a community is strengthened when it individuals prosper. How would criminality make any sense bearing in mind this simple and obvious logic concerning the socially cooperative human being?

By simple observation, I would seriously doubt that mankind could have existed at all if Wilhelm Wundt was correct. If he is right the condition would go back to the origins of human existence. It important to realize that since 1879 and today is a very short period of time in human history. It’s only in this period of time that existential threat to mankind’s very existence and the sustainability of our planet have arisen.

Do people really want to live in a climate of perpetual fear or would they like to cooperate and be happy? If you want we could conduct a poll. How many people think/know they are basically an animal that inherently self-centered and criminal but have been moulded by social engineering into a member of society by our caring benevolent government?

How many people think/know that there basic nature is spiritual and they are inherently social?

It’s not me trashing the basic tenets of psychology It’s done that all on it own. Who do think would win the above poll if we asked everyone? That’s right, no contest.

If you think that your government should be democratic what about the democracy of sanity? Is it reasonable or desirable that a small minority of evil beings have all the power and control over the majority who mostly just want to have a happy life?
Danny Cunnington | 08.25.09 – 4:40 am | #

Gravatar I’m glad so many of you are relating to this piece and treating it as what it was intended to be–ammunition. If we are going to wage a “Silent War” of our own, one for the people, all people, then we have to have our own weapons. The following says it all:”Every one of these programs is geared towards finding and exploiting the human breaking point.”

This is something they learned from zionists.”

This is the essence of Wolf Jabotinsky’s “Iron Wall” doctrine, which serves as the foundation for the Zionist form of psychological warfare, the basis of our own war on terror. Zev (Wolf) taught his fascist friends that the only victory against the legitimate Palestinian struggle was to destroy their will to resist, breaking their spirit, teaching them through repeated military defeats that they are helpless against Israel’s “Iron Wall,” teaching them to believe in hopelessness.

Cruelty of this magnitude, like that inflicted upon Seligman’s poor victim dogs and rats, is completely unacceptable and morally repugnant to all normal people. The monsters who have embraced this as the policy of our government have got to go, just as this abomination has to be dug-out and destroyed by thinking, caring, patriotic Americans.
Get busy!

Gravatar Danny: Yes, I agree with you that man is a spirit and has a body and soul also. He/she also has a culture, a family, a society, and of course, he/she is part of nature. In all my years of training, there was never any mention of the basic premises that you speak of, i.e., that man is basically an animal. In my study of psychology, man has free will, and he/she is a mystery in a mysterious world of interaction between spirit, life, nature and minerals. Only some claim that psychology is a science. For every nut case theory out there, there are at least one hundred plausible ones. By lumping all of psychology’s premises into a few men’s crazy and sick ideas, you certainly alienate or diss a large group of people who have a significant level of influence in our society and who CAN be of help in this battle that we fight to keep the evil ones from misusing psychology for evil purposes. Like another participant said earlier here, you cannot cover all aspects of every topic every time you open your mouth. We do not have to agree with every printed word, but get the general gist of the article…does it ring true or not? Is there something to learn from it? We are at a point where the the movement for justice and our very survival as human beings needs every body and soul it can find as an ally (including the natural world), or else we we’ll never find a way out of this quagmire.

Gravatar The best way to exist appears to exist in an much or very much interdependent relationship. For 3-4 centuries our ‘betters’ in US taught children to become independent and thus sent them and adults on a hunt for an illusion and in that never-ending hunt, became delusional.

It helps me to think or say that people ARE not this or that; instead, say or think: people ARE becoming or became this and that.

So, i say, people became dependent while firmly believing that they are or shld be independent.

So, seligman [i think he's a 'jew'] with his “learned helplessness” is trying to deceive us.
He does not say that the ruling class trains people to become, what he calls, helpless.

He is simply using the oldest trick of our masters: relabeling both the illusion of independence [thus 'freedom']and our near total dependency as learned helplesness and, of course not, as taught by our clergy, pols, ‘educators’, media, constitution, entertainment industry, advertizers, et al, to become helpless or dependent. tnx

Gravatar Jane Mayer on the subject of her book, The Dark Side, said,
“I personally feel that the medical and psychological professionals who have used their skills to further a program designed to cause pain and suffering should be a high priority in terms of accountability. It has long been a ghastly aspect of torture, worldwide, that doctors and other medical professionals often assist. The licensing boards and professional societies are worthless, in my view, if they don’t demand serious investigations of such unethical uses of science.”I concur wholeheartedly, and I believe most mental health professionals agree if they even bothered to take the time to think about it. I just don’t understand where their voices are, and why there hasn’t been a serious and large outcry from the professional community. Personally, I got sick and tired of being the only one voicing my disgust and seeing the blank and complacent faces staring back at me. These societies carry tremendous influence as, for example, the engineers behind exposing 9/11 cover up have been by far the most influential in using their professional knowledge to expose the criminals. That’s what we need from the health sector, or else we will rightfully loose what little is left of our credibility.

Gravatar I recommend 100% the contents of:
Bill Ross | HomepageExtract:
(Without giving the complete conclusions away, this work proves that “life, liberty
and the pursuit of happiness” is about intelligent choice by the wise usage of time,
energy, fact, knowledge and environmental factors. It further proves how and why this
knowledge is used by some very determined people and organizations to steal your time
and energy, making you a slave. Given this knowledge, if you have courage, you can
choose to be free, without breaking any valid law, harming anyone or even letting anyone
else know what you are really doing.)

Gravatar nowheretohide, this is what happens when you depend on corporate media for your news.Democracy Now has extensively covered the psychologists fight against the pro-torture leaders.

Here’s a link to one, but you can go to http://www.democracynow.org/ and search for more.

This is part of our problem. If dissent is not covered, we think it’s not happening.

But it is.

Gravatar There are by now a multitude of mechanisms, private institutions and corporations [the latter growing exponentially] through which thought processes, on individual, societal and global levels, are being manipulated, with varying degrees of cruelty, from propaganda to torture, to mass massacres.Rand Corp, Rendon Corp, SAIC, Corrections Corporation of America [CCA], etc, industrialized countries’ foreign intelligence agencies, with instruments representing various strategic national interests, all are oriented towards a single goal: preservation of pyramidal wealth, power and class structure.

If you’re unfamiliar with it, I urge you to read the following article by James Bamford, from 2005, describing the power and funds a single US company, CIA outsourced, Rendon Corporation, was accorded to wage a ‘broad spectrum’ international campaign in support of US wars and regime change campaigns since the early 1990s.

This is the work of a single company:

The Man Who Sold the War

The US’s geostrategic operations and use of the APA in association with CIA and Special Operations to achieve its goals are unspeakable in their repugnance, but it is of vital importance that US Americans recognize that they are not alone, by any means.

For centuries, Britain and European powers have been engaged in similarly odious practices. No longer on the same scale as the US, today, but Europe is driven by the same, systemic motivations.

What the Anglo-American and European spheres have in common is a history of centralized power, a monopoly on world finance and credit which, by virtue of boundless opportunity and shortsightedness, is now in the process of imploding.

Banking, compound interest and one-way wealth distribution have always been at the root of propaganda, mass torture and wars.

It’s time that we cease placing the value of our labor and collective wealth into a system of global monopoly whose charter is to rob and repress.
