NATO`s Afghan cargoes going through Russia will be checked for drugs, the country’s deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said following the talks between Moscow and NATO on the issue.
The diplomat said that Russia pays much attention to the safety of transit cargoes.
Earlier, media reports said that Russia and NATO could agree on a new scheme of reverse transit of Afghan cargoes by air and by land through Russia bypassing Uzbekistan.
When delivered to Russia, the cargoes will then be sent to NATO countries by train.
