Tajik Border Guards Accept Delivery of 55 ATVs, Trucks, Tactical Vehicles–(Presumably ALL with GPS-Tracking)

U.S. handed over to Tajik border guards dozens of vehicles

On Friday, February 1 at one of the military units of the Border Service of the State Committee of National Security ceremony of transfer of technical assistance of the U.S. government in Tajikistan. 

According to the U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe, Tajikistan released to the 22 all-terrain vehicles, 33 light-duty trucks and other tactical equipment. Vehicles will be distributed to all border posts in Tajikistan to assist border control units to combat smuggling of goods entry and transit through the country. Light-duty trucks and tactical equipment will contribute to building the capacity of border troops, checkpoints and security units in the Tajik borders from external threats.

“The equipment and vehicles as grant aid amounting to more than U.S. $ 1.8 million will greatly increase the capacity of the Government of Tajikistan in the management of borders” – note in the embassy.

As noted by the deputy head of the U.S. Embassy in Tajikistan Penhyun Sarah, “the United States Government and the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan common objectives to combat the threat of smuggling and drug trafficking, and our government recognizes that maintaining border security in Tajikistan is a priority of the state. Border Service is a first line of defense against external threats RT and often required of her important tasks within the limited resources available to the difficult terrain and difficult weather conditions. ”

U.S. Embassy intends to continue assisting the border service, in particular to provide modern equipment, training and infrastructure, in a partnership between U.S. agencies.

The project, in the framework of which were transferred to vehicles and equipment, is one of the many development projects that the U.S. Embassy in Tajikistan carries out on behalf of the American people.
