The newsreader says: “Today, our Russian Electronic Warfare (REW) troops can detect and neutralise any target from a ship’s system and a radar, to a satellite.”

The news report claims a single Russian war plane flew several times around American destroyer the USS Donald Cook in the Black Sea several years ago, disabling its systems and leaving it helpless.

The report also claims they are capable to creating electronic jamming domes over their bases that make them invisible on radar screens.

The propaganda piece even quotes top US General Frank Gorenc as saying: “Russian electronic weapons completely paralyse the functioning of American electronic equipment installed on missiles, aircraft and ships.”

The reporter adds: “You don’t need to have expensive weapons to win – powerful radio-electronic jamming is enough.”

The news comes after Donald Trump dispatched the USS Carl Vinson, powered by nuclear reactors, carrying almost 100 aircraft and accompanied by destroyers, a cruiser, and a submarine to the Korean Peninsula.

And the commander-in-chief is said to be bolstering American deployment in the region by sending the USS Ronald Reagan and the USS Nimitz to the Sea of Japan next week.

Russia, along with China, is said to have sent a spy ship to the area to ward off the task force amid rising tensions in the region.

  1. “Unlike their posturing and PR-driven American counterparts, the Russians are not given to exaggeration, puerile lies or spectacles for the easily-impressed”.

I meant the Russian military and government, of course. The Russian media is just as capable as Western media of ridiculous hyperbole.
That said, brute EMP weapons can be frighteningly capable.

  2. Unlike their posturing and PR-driven American counterparts, the Russians are not given to exaggeration, puerile lies or spectacles for the easily-impressed (yes, MOAB). Nor do the Russians waste money on PR videos and Hollywood special effects to impress themselves and the war-profiteering investors-in-death.

The Russians mean business and build weapons for winning wars, not for fattening the wallets of BlackRock investors, who think they’re safe, all tucked away in the Aladdin database.

The Russians have devised electromagnetic pulse weapons for decades now at institutes like VNIIEF.

This includes powerful directed EMP weapons like EPFCGs (explosively-pumped flux compression generators).

Researcher Carlo Kopp has some good background on EMP warfare.

No, these are not idle words from the Russians.

Have a look at the US Starfish Prime high-altitude nuclear test, which was part of Project Fishbowl. It knocked out electrical equipment hundreds of kilometers away in Hawaii.

Not with specific intent. By accident. More than half a century ago.

    Now fast forward to today.

“Now a pinch creates a similar electromagnetic pulse but without the fuss of mass destruction and death. So instead of Hiroshima, you’d be getting the seventeenth century.”

Can you even imagine what a specifically-designed directed energy weapon could do to a geographically-localized sitting duck, I mean armada, like a carrier battle group? Sure, the ships have some degree of EMP protection. For example, after Russia’s initial cruise missile storm on ISIS supply lines, the Americans reportedly sent some of their ships back to port specifically to install fiber-optic communications networks in them to replace the copper, which is susceptible to EMP surges.

Good EMP protection is difficult and expensive. And power supplies tend to act as antennas, guiding the electromagnetic shockwave inside and crashing it into the delicate electronics. And computer electronics are far less robust than simple power equipment.

The US military definitely worries about electromagnetic warfare.

But forget EMPs. There are far scarier things out there.

If they want to prod the Russians, and the Chinese, clearly the US National Security Council and Joint Chiefs are fond of gambling. Not just gambling with your lives, nice American people, but even with their own and those of their families. Have you seen the nuclear shelters in Washington, Houston and New York? No, neither have I.

Maybe they should be waging peace, de-escalating and jointly planning the abolition of nuclear weapons entirely from this planet, instead of convincing the rest of the world they need nuclear weapons too to defend themselves. From the blood-soaked demons of RAND, Brookings and the Institute for the Study of War. And their masters.

You. Nice people, investors-in-death, close your eyes, visualize it: a holocaust, post-apocalyptic firestorm, burning flesh, the living dead, scorched with thirst, starving, wandering the wastelands, the ashes of the human world. It’s what you want, isn’t it? Clearly you yearn to stay in such a world. Forever. And ever. And ever.

  3. Do the Russians have any electronics to tell our governmental leaders WHERE our ships are? Our best and brightest all seem to think our fleet is going towards North Korea when they are heading for Australia. They probably have NO IDEA where our subs are.–[it is probably safe to say that the majority of the Pentagon’s still-secret technical surprises are in the Navy’s hands. They have been chomping at the bit to git their share of the war action since the start of the terror war, waiting until the door to opportunity opened to them. This entire war, they have only seen action through anti-piracy actions, occasional contributions in bombing runs, and the the use of Navy SEALS. If this turns into a naval conflict between naval powers, then we will really see “shock and awe.”–ed.]

  4. It’s great stuff .. hey.
Israeli’s Iron Dome works like this .. Hamas ring ahead “where should we bomb today?” .. Israel gives them the co-ordinates & bingo.
The BIG SCARY DRONES . they students from the University of Texas .. proved to disbelieving FBI Agents that DRONES could be hacked & hijacked .. the first time you send it on a mission could be the last time you ever see it again .. “here’s looking at you kid”
Knowing this .. the then PM of Australia Tony Abbott spent AU$3.000.000.000 of taxpayer monies to purchase DRONES.
    A mindless distraction no doubt.

Wired For War Peter Warren Singer .. it is a very interesting talk that he gave at the Sydney Opera House .. also Meet The Sims – And Shoot Them – Militainment. P W Singer.
