DND removes report on killing of Canadian soldier by Israeli forces

The Defence Department has quietly removed from the Internet a report into the killing of a Canadian military officer by Israeli forces, a move the soldier’s widow says is linked to the Conservative government’s reluctance to criticize Israel for any wrongdoing.

Maj. Paeta Hess-von Kruedener and three other United Nations observers were killed in 2006 when the Israeli military targeted their small outpost with repeated artillery barrages as well as an attack by a fighter aircraft.

IN early 2008, the Defence Department posted on its website a 67-page report from the Canadian Forces board of inquiry into the killing. The board found Hess-von Kruedener’s death was preventable and caused by the Israeli military.

But less than a year later, the report was quietly removed from the DND website and has since remained off-limits to the public through official channels.

Hess-von Kruedener’s widow, Cynthia, told the Citizen that the decision to remove the document from the public domain was made by DND and the government in an effort to protect Israel’s reputation.

“They don’t want people reading about it,” she said. “It’s embarrassing to the Israelis and, as we know, Prime Minister (Stephen) Harper has given his unconditional support to the Israelis.”

The circumstances surrounding Hess-von Kruedener’s death and the attempts by DND and the Canadian Forces to limit access to the board of inquiry report are outlined in an article in the new edition of Legion magazine, an Ottawa-based publication sent to members of the Royal Canadian Legion.

DND originally refused to provide the magazine with the previously public board of inquiry report, claiming the publication needed to use the access-to-information law to obtain a copy.

Legion magazine obtained a copy of the report by other means. It has now posted the report on its website.

In an email sent to the Citizen, DND confirmed it had removed the board of inquiry report from its website in early 2009 for security reasons “after it was discovered that some of its content is considered protected information.”

That explanation, however, doesn’t stand up to scrutiny as Legion magazine compared both the 2008 version and the 2012 copy issued under the access law, discovering that the latest version actually contains more information than the original.

The Legion article also raises questions about the disappearance from DND of a United Nations report into the killing. The document was used by the Canadian Forces for its board of inquiry and the UN report is cited in the Canadian report. But DND’s access to information branch claims it has done a thorough search of records and no such report could be found.

DND could not comment on claims by defence sources that hard copies of the board of inquiry report were also removed from military libraries.

The death of Hess-von Kruedener, a UN observer assigned to the Israeli-Lebanon border, has largely been forgotten.

The Israeli attack on the UN outpost began shortly after noon on July 25, 2006, prompting the UN deputy secretary general to almost immediately call the Israeli ambassador to the UN and complain.

Several hours later another artillery barrage hit the outpost. That was followed by another 16 artillery rounds hitting the base, destroying most of the buildings above ground and blowing the door off the underground bunker where Hess-von Kruedener and his fellow peacekeepers had taken refuge.

At one point, a general in charge of UN operations in Lebanon called the Israeli liaison officer and told him, “You’re killing my people.” Previously, the Israelis halted such attacks when protests were received.

Later that day, an Israeli fighter pilot directed a precision-guided bomb through the door of the UN bunker. The blast from the massive bomb killed the four men.

Gen. Rick Hillier, then the chief of the defence staff, later described the major’s death as a “tragic accident.”

Cynthia Hess-von Kruedener told the Citizen that the Canadian Forces didn’t inform her of her husband’s death. Instead, she learned he had been killed from a television news report.

The Legion article notes the Israelis had deliberately targeted the base. The base had been included in the Israeli military’s “targeting list” which they acknowledged was an error on their part.

Cynthia Hess-von Kruedener also takes issue with some of the remarks made by Harper about her husband. At the time of the killing, Harper questioned what Hess-von Kruedener was doing at the UN outpost.

She said the answer is simple: He was doing his job as ordered by the Canadian Forces and government of Canada. “Instead of asking why this happened, (Harper) turned it onto an innocent UN peacekeeper,” she said.

On Sept. 19, 2006, then-Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert wrote Harper, expressing his deep regret. Harper wrote back on Nov. 20, 2006, thanking Olmert for his “expression of condolences, for the Israeli government’s rapid investigation of the incident and for information provided to Canadian officials.”

However, the Legion magazine article noted that the Israelis refused to answer questions from Canada about the attack.

A few points to start out: NBC is not an impartial media outlet. George H.W. Bush is not a respectable, admirable man or a national hero. And “33” is not an insignificant number- It is quite relevant and meaningful, in some circles at least.

NBC is owned by General Electric, a “defense contractor and the 2nd largest company in world according to Forbes“, which has received over $16 billion dollars in bailouts from American taxpayers. They build and sell engines for the F-16 fighter aircraft and Apache Block III helicopters. For them, war is literally a profit racket; so it makes sense that they would “honor” warmongers.

NBC news far from impartial- they shill for the military-industrial complex and in 2003, fired Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Peter Arnett after Arnett reported the truth from Iraq: “America is reappraising the battlefield, delaying the war against Iraq, maybe a week and rewriting the war plan. The first plan has failed because of Iraqi resistance. Now they are trying to write another plan- So our reports about civilian casualties here, about the resistance of the Iraqi forces, are going back to the United States. It helps those who oppose the war when you challenge the policy to develop their arguments.”

As Steve Watson of PrisonPlanet.com reported in 2010,

“MSNBC is the epitome of the controlled corporate mainstream media, being as it is 80% owned by General Electric, operated by military industrial complex giant General Dynamics, whose primary business comes from supplying arms and weapons systems to the US government and its international allies. It is not and never has been sympathetic to anti-establishment or anti-war activism – this is the same network that cancelled Jesse Ventura’s talk show simply because he opposed the Iraq war”.

On December 26, NBC reported “George H.W. Bush in ‘guarded condition’ in intensive care, battling elevated fever, spokesman says”.

NBC didn’t even break the story. Twenty days earlier on December 6, THE GLOBE tabloid magazine had already broke the story which hit supermarket checkout racks, with a front cover photo and headline which read“GEORGE BUSH, 88, PLEADS: LET ME DIE AT HOME!” The GLOBE article stated in part, “Hospitalized with a dangerous lung condition, former President George H.W. Bush knows his days are numbered and has asked to be allowed to die at home.”

Featured prominantly in the Johnny-come-lately NBC article was an elaborate slideshow, titled ‘The life and times of George H.W. Bush‘. Coincidentally, the slideshow presentation includes thirty-three photos, summarizing the 41st president’s life. The collection of historic and ‘cute’ photos attempts to present a dignified, affable codger who deserves to be honored. In reality, nothing could be further from the truth.

The number thirty-three holds quite a significance in Freemasonic circles. The numbers 11, 13 and 33 are the Illuminati / Freemason Signature. In their propaganda piece preceding the likely demise of the freemasonic former president, there are many flattering photos of Bush with family, with other politicians, playing horseshoes, etc. But NBC left out several photos of the REAL George H.W. Bush which should have been included.

There are no photos of George H.W. Bush in Dallas on the morning of John F. Kennedy’s assassination standing in front of the Texas Book Depository in Dealey Plaza, but the photos can be seen here. The photo of the FBI memo acknowledging that Bush was a CIA opeative at that time can be seen here: “FBI director J. Edgar Hoover wrote this memo 5 days after the assassination, naming George Bush as a CIA officer… “The substance of the forgoing information was orally furnished to Mr. George Bush of the Central Intelligence Agency and Captain William Edwards of the Defense Intelligence Agency on November 23, 1963, by Mr. V.T. Forsyth of this Bureau.”

There are no photos of George H.W. Bush at the MENA, Arkansas drug running operation with Bill Clinton. The allegation “that Mena is a myth, that the CIA never ran cocaine through the Mena airport, or laundered the proceeds through various Arkansas financial institutions including Morgan Guarantee, Madison S&L, Worthen Bank, and most importantly, the Arkansas Development Finance Authority” is thoroughly debunked here. There is no photo of George Bush with legendary CIA agent Felix Rodriguez a.k.a. “Mr. Gomez” who ran the Mexican portion of the Iran-Contra guns and drug running operation on MSNBC, but the photo can be seen here.

There are no photos of George H.W. There are no photos of George H.W. Bush reacting to the half a million innocent Iraqis who died a s a result of of his sanctions during the first Iraq war. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright told 60 Minutes on May 12, 1996 that the deaths were “worth it”:

Lesley Stahl: “We have heard that a half million children have died. I mean, that’s more children than died in Hiroshima. And, you know, is the price worth it?”
Albright: I think this is a very hard choice, but the price -we think the price is worth it.”

Perhaps Bush shares the same views as his wife Barbara, who told ABC’s “Good Morning America” on March 18, 2003 “Why should we hear about body bags and deaths? Oh, I mean, it’s not relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?” In December 2011, current Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, who was formerly the CIA Director, similarly said that the systematic slaughter of 1.5 million Iraqis and the destruction of their nation was also “worth it”: “As difficult as [the Iraq invasion and occupation] was, and the cost in both American and Iraqi lives, “I think the price has been worth it, to establish a stable government in a very important region of the world”.

There are no photos of George H.W. Bush at his Masonic Yale Skulll and Bones ‘tomb’ which admitedly has skeletons of dead human babies hanging on the walls: “Dozens of skeletons and skulls, human and animal, dangle from the walls, on which German and Latin phrases have been chiseled (“Whether poor or rich, all are equal in death”) [Skull & Bones Society – A rare look inside Skull and Bones, the Yale secret society by Alexandra Robbins. Bush’s father Prescott, the Nazi financier, and his son, George W. Bush, were also both members of Skull and Bones. In his autobiography, George W. Bush wrote “My senior year (at Yale University) I joined Skull and Bones, a secret society … so secret, I can’t say anything more.” [White House ‘Bonesman’ leads nation into the dark USATODAY 9/25/02.] In 2004 both George W. Bush and his cousin John Kerry laughed about the secrecy of their Skull and Bones memberships in separate TV interviews, which can be seen here.

NBC included no photos of George H.W. Bush taking part in occult ceremonies at Bohemian Grove performing mock human sacrifies to Molech and worshiping satan with other attendees Newt Gingrich, Henry Kissinger and Arnold Schwarzenegger. But photos of the Bushes, father and son together at Bohemian Grove, can be seen in the Annals of the Bohemian Club (vol 7), 1987-1996. Also inlcuded in the book are images from the occult Cremation of Care ceremony:

“This image from Page 131 shows the ancient Caananite occult ritual, the “Cremation of Care Here you see a smug George W. Bush with his father, Bush Senior (taken in 1995) giving what they call a “lakeside chat” at the Grove. This page also shows Newt Gingrich, another member. The talks are given no less than a dozen yards from the stone idol where “mock” human sacrifices take place. This is the same idol you see featured above in the Cremation of Care ceremony photo.”

Speaking of skeletons of dead babies and human sacrifices, there are no photos of George H.W. Bush with his young daughter “Robin Bush” before she mysteriously died at a young age, allegedly from “lukemia”. It is on record that George W. Bush did not go to his sisters funeral. What kind of family doesn’t let a boy go to his little sister’s funeral? What did they do with her body? One can only speculate as to how she really died or where her body went. There is no photo of George H.W. Bush with 62-year-old Bertha O. Champagne, the live-in housekeeper who was ‘crushed to death’ at the Alexandria, Virginia home of Marvin P. Bush. According to Marvin’s statement to police, Bertha went out to her car to retrieve some photos of her and George W. Bush to show to Marvin, on September 29th 2003 . How does one get crushed to death by her own Oldsmobile between the front of her car and a wall anyway? “Champagne was pinned between the car and a small building next to the driveway” the police report stated, with pools of blood and broken glass at the scene. No one was ever arrested or charged in the “accident.” (Oh Bertha, Poor Bertha, what did you see?)

There is no photo of George H.W. Bush having dinner with his good friends the Hinckley family the night before their son John Hinckley shot and tried to murder Ronald Reagan. Rense.com reports “NBC news anchor John Chancellor, eyebrows raised, informed the viewers of the nightly news that the man who tried to kill the president was acquainted with the son of the man who would have become president had the attack succeeded. As a matter of fact, Chancellor reported in a bewildered tone, Scott Hinckley and Neil Bush had been scheduled to have dinner together at the home of the (then) vice-president’s son (Neil) the very next night. The story of the Bush-Hinckley connection was reported on the AP and UPI newswires and in some newspapers, including the Houston Post, which apparently originated the story. It was also reported in Newsweek magazine.”

There is no photo of George H. W. Bush weeping and babbling about the JFK assasination in front of a large audiences at innapropriate times. Apparently a tormented guilty conscience shows through at times, even in the hardest cases. In December 2006, Bush senior sobbed and covered his face while speaking about his son Jeb at a large Florida gathering. The very next month, in January 2007, Daddy Bush Attacked JFK “Conspiracy Theorists”. Paul Joseph Watson of PrisonPlanet.com reported

“Former President triumphs Warren Commission at Ford’s funeral; Are the Bush’s breaking down?
During his speech at yesterday’s funeral service for Gerald Ford, former President George H.W. Bush bashed JFK “conspiracy theorists” and defended the Warren Commission report, another odd public outburst indicative of a crime family whose decades of misdeeds may finally be catching up with them. “After a deluded gunman assassinated President Kennedy, our nation turned to Gerald Ford and a select handful of others to make sense of that madness,” said Bush. “And the conspiracy theorists can say what they will, but the Warren Commission report will always have the final definitive say on this tragic matter. Despite the Bush family presenting the facade of being “respectable pro-life Christians” for the gullible Republican voting block, there are no photos of George H.W. Bush praising his friend eugencist Margaret Sanger or attacking the Roman Pontiff Pope Paul VI and demanding worldwide population control as he did publicly on the House floor while a Congressman in the 1960’s, which is outlined in the official Congressional record. NBC didn’t see fit to include photos of George H. W. Bush meeting with Osama bin Laden’s brother, Shafig bin Laden, in the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Washington, on the morning of 9/11/01. In 2003, Paul Joseph Watson of PrisonPlanet.com reported “They were on Carlyle Group business just a few miles from where hijackers supposedly acting on behalf of Osama bin Laden would fly a plane into the Pentagon.”

Lastly, MSNBC presented no photo of George H. W. Bush being confronted by an educated and outraged patriotic American, who told him off in public in 2010. After being responsible for the murder and sterilization of countless millions of people worldwide, the degenerate coward occultist George H.W. Bush didn’t have the guts to say a single word in response to one man who had the courage to call him a “murderous, Zionist piece of $#@!!” to his face at a Houston Pizza Place. Instead, he used his government guards to try and bully the man, unsuccessfully. I am proud to say that this man, Greg, has been a friend of mine for many years and this dedicated truth-seeker’s act of speaking “truth to power” is not only admirable, but is a model for the rest of us:

Hopefully, this collection will serve as a concise outline of the actual legacy of George H. W. Bush. And hopefully, for his own sake, this dreadful conspirator will repent for his own good before he meets his maker.

Chapter X: Rubbers Goes to Congress

“Bush belonged to a small group of congressmen who successfully conspired to force a profound shift in the official U.S. attitude and policy toward population expansion. Embracing the “limits to growth” ideology with a vengeance, Bush and his coterie, which included such ultraliberal Democrats as then- Senator Walter Mondale (Minn.) and Rep. James Scheuer (N.Y.), labored to enact legislation which institutionalized population control as U.S. domestic and foreign policy.

Bush began his Malthusian activism in the House in 1968, which was the year in which Pope Paul VI issued his enyclical “Humanae Vitae,” which contained a prophetic warning of the danger of coercion by governments for the purpose of population control. The Pope wrote: “Let it be considered also that a dangerous weapon would be placed in the hands of those public authorities who place no heed of moral exigencies…. Who will stop rulers from favoring, from even imposing upon their people, the method of contraception which they judged to be most efficacious?” For poorer countries with a high population rate, the encyclical identified the only rational and humane policy: “No solution to these difficulties is acceptable which does violence to man’s essential dignity….The only possible solution … is one which envisages the social and economic progress both of individuals and of the whole of human society….”

This was a direct challenge to the cultural paradigm transformation which Bush and other exponents of the oligarchical world outlook were promoting. Not for the first time nor for the last time, Bush issued a direct attack on the Holy See. Just days after Humanae Vitae was issued, Bush declared: “I have decided to give my vigorous support for population control in both the United States and the world.” He also lashed out at the Pope. “For those of us who who feel so strongly on this issue, the recent enyclical was most discouraging.”

During his four years in Congress, Bush not only introduced key pieces of legislation to enforce population control both at home and abroad. He also continuously introduced into the congressional debate reams of propaganda about the threat of population growth and the inferiority of blacks, and he set up a special Republican task force which functioned as a forum for the most rabid Malthusian ideologues.

“Bush was really out front on the population issue,” a population- control activist recently said of this period of 1967-71. “He was saying things that even we were reluctant to talk about publicly.”

Bush’s open public advocacy of government measures tending towards zero population growth was a radical departure from the policies built into the federal bureaucracy up until that time. The climate of opinion just a few years earlier, in December 1959, is illustrated by the comments of President Eisenhower, who had said, “birth control is not our business. I cannot imagine anything more emphatically a subject that is not a proper political or governmental activity … or responsibility.”

As a congressman, Bush played an absolutely pivotal role in this shift. Shortly after arriving in Washington, he teamed up with fellow Republican Herman Schneebeli to offer a series of amendments to the Social Security Act to place priority emphasis on what was euphemistically called “family planning services.” The avowed goal was to reduce the number of children born to women on welfare.

The pretext: Massacre of the innocents – Newtown, Conn.

I am a professor at a wonderful online school called National Paralegal College (NPC). Shannon Southard, a student there recently raised some very prescient questions on the issue of gun control:

Seems that almost every shooting that has made national headlines recently has involved a shooter suffering from one form or mental issues or another. We had two tragic shootings this week – one in a crowded mall another in an elementary school. Not to mention the awful shooting earlier this year at the movie theater. … Who should be blamed for these individuals being able to commit such heinous acts – lawmakers for allowing access to weapons, mental health professionals for possibly not treating appropriately, society for turning their backs on them?

This prompted fellow NPC student, Kathryn Dunigan to remark, “Almost all the mass shooters over the past 20 years, including the ones at Columbine and the Aurora Theater were on mind altering psychiatric drugs. Is gun control really the national conversation we need, or is [it] medication control?”

This comment prompted my response to Kathryn:

Don’t take the easy (unconstitutional) way out. … I want you to reconsider your remarks in light of constitutional history. If you follow Obama’s and the Democratic Party path to disarm law-abiding citizens, then the criminals (who won’t obey any gun laws) will be emboldened to use gun violence without limits. Why? Because they will know that law-abiding citizens will be disarmed and easy prey for criminals to abuse We the People. When in doubt, always follow the Constitution.

I would invite you to read Dr. John Lott’s excellent book dispelling liberal assumptions on the correlation between the access of guns and the proliferation of gun violence. You can read a short analysis of Dr. Lott’s book, “More Guns, Less Crime.”

Note the level of vitriol in the academic community against his theories. Why? Because progressives understand that to effect and increase federal government hegemony and state-control throughout society, the Second Amendment must be repealed. Look at the history of all fascist societies from Robespierre and the Jacobins, the French Enlightenment, Germany’s Otto von Bismarck, to Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot, Franco, etc. The first thing these tyrants want to do as soon as they secured power was to disarm the public and make the STATE (e.g., the army, police, secret police, Gestapo, etc.) the only entity legally allowed to possess guns. Why? So the state can steal your unalienable (God-given) liberties and make you slaves of the Leviathan State. … In my opinion, President Obama has almost taken America to that abyss.

The Policy

The great Spanish philosopher George Santayana warned us decades ago: Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership (JPFO) is an organization dedicated to the preservation of gun rights in the United States and “to encourage Americans to understand and defend all of the Bill of Rights for everyone.” The group was founded by former firearms dealer Aaron S. Zelman in 1986. JPFO interprets the Second Amendment as recognizing a pre-existing natural right of individuals to keep and bear arms.

According to the comprehensive research by JPFO, all of America’s present gun-control laws have Nazi origins, evidenced by the group’s shocking accusation that the Gun Control Act of 1968 was plagiarized almost word for word from Nazi legislation. The German Weapons Law, which existed before the Nazis came to power in 1933, was amended on March 18, 1938, by the Nazi government. The JPFO’s claim is based in part by the fact that the 1968 law introduces the “sporting purpose” test to distinguish different types of weapons, similar to the “sporting purpose” test that existed in the German law in question. Sen. Thomas Joseph Dodd (father to Sen. Chris Dodd) was a prosecutor at the Nuremberg Trials and had reviewed copies of the Nazi firearms law as the 1968 legislation was being drafted.

America, you have a constitutional natural right to be armed in order to protect yourself, because under U.S law the police have no duty to protect the average person. The Bill of Rights (the first 10 amendments to the U.S. Constitution) are all unalienable rights, which meant that they are God-given, self-evident truths, natural rights that originated from God, the Bible and Natural Law and therefore can never be lawfully taken away by man or the State.

North Waziristan placed under indefinite curfew

MIRANSHAH: In an expected development, the government Wednesday announced indefinite curfew in North Waziristan Agency from today, senior officials said.

 

They said the announcement about the curfew in North Waziristan was made in a meeting held on Wednesday night. Though the officials didn’t give details, the government usually enforces curfew in the tribal region on every Sunday.

 

The decision panicked the tribal people who have started asking as to why the government made the announcement as curfew was clamped in the entire North Waziristan tribal region last Sunday. “The tribespeople are worried and many of them are asking the reason for the curfew,” a government official said, adding that he too didn’t know the reason behind the decision.

 

Meanwhile, armed members of the Utmanzai Peace Committee foiled a car-lifting attempt and arrested two alleged car-lifters in Miranshah bazaar and handed them over to the political administration.

 

Member of the peace committee said they had been tipped off so they deployed their men at all the entry and exit points to the bazaar.

 

“We intercepted a car being driven by two car-lifters. We seized them and returned the car to its owner,” said a member of the peace body, wishing not to be named.

Delhi gang-rape victim dies in hospital in Singapore

The victim died in the early hours of Saturday morning, a hospital official said

A female student gang-raped on a bus in India’s capital Delhi has died at a Singapore hospital, doctors say.

“The patient passed away peacefully at 4:45am on 29 Dec 2012,” a statement from the hospital said. The patient’s family had been by her side, it added.

The 23-year-old had arrived in Singapore on Thursday after undergoing three operations in a Delhi hospital.

The attack earlier this month triggered violent public protests in India that left one police officer dead.

Six men have been arrested and two police officers have been suspended following the 16 December attack.

“The patient had remained in an extremely critical condition since admission to Mount Elizabeth Hospital,” a statement from hospital chief executive Kelvin Loh said.

“She had suffered from severe organ failure following serious injuries to her body and brain. She was courageous in fighting for her life for so long against the odds but the trauma to her body was too severe for her to overcome,” the statement went on.

“We are humbled by the privilege of being tasked to care for her in her final struggle,” Mr Loh said.

A team of eight specialists had tried to keep the patient stable, but her condition continued to deteriorate over the two days she was at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, he added.

Officials from the High Commission of India had also been present when the patient passed away. The Indian home minister said the government had decided to send the victim overseas on the recommendation of her doctors.

The woman’s case has sparked public debate as well as several days of protests across India

Arrangements are being made to take her body back to India, Indian high commissioner to Singapore TCA Raghavan told reporters, according to the Associated Press.

Rising anger

The victim and her friend had been to see a film when they boarded the bus in the Munirka area of Delhi, intending to travel to Dwarka in the south-west of the city.

Police said she was raped for nearly an hour, and both she and her companion were beaten with iron bars and thrown out of the moving bus and into the street.

On arrival at the hospital in Singapore, doctors said that as well as a “prior cardiac arrest, she also had infection of her lungs and abdomen, as well as significant brain injury”.

The government has tried to halt rising public anger by announcing a series of measures intended to make Delhi safer for women.

These include more police night patrols, checks on bus drivers and their assistants, and the banning of buses with tinted windows or curtains.

The government has also said that it will post the photos, names and addresses of convicted rapists on official websites to shame them.

It has set up two committees – one looking into speeding up trials of cases involving sexual assaults on women, and the other to examine the lapses that might have led to the incident in Delhi.

But the protesters say the government’s pledge to seek life sentences for the attackers is not enough – many are calling for the death penalty.

Since the Delhi incident, several cases have been highlighted of authorities failing to respond to reported rapes.

On Wednesday, a woman committed suicide in the state of Punjab, after having tried to report to police an rape which allegedly took place last month, local media reports said.

At least one police officer involved in the case has been sacked, according to local officials.

Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas attends a Fatah “Revolutionary Council” meeting in the Palestinian West Bank city of Ramallah on Wednesday.

Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, said he will hand over responsibilty for the West Bank to Israel if peace talks are not renewed after Israel’s elections, Haaretz newspaper reported on Thursday.

In an interview with the Israeli newspaper, Abbas said he would relinquish control and disband the Palestinian authority if there was no progress after January 22.

“I’ll tell him [Israeli prime minister, Binyamin Netanyahu]… Sit in the chair here instead of me, take the keys, and you will be responsible for the Palestinian Authority.”

“Once the new government in Israel is in place, Netanyahu will have to decide – yes or no,” Abbas said.

The Palestinian negotiating team has refused to return to the peace talks until Israel agrees on a settlement freeze. However, Israel has insisted on no preconditions to the talks.

Negotiations have been put on hold since September 2010.

You’d think ole “Ari” might have been peering through some sort of cosmic window into modern day America some 2300 years ago with comments such as those above.

See, America is building a head of steam preparing to go to war with itself a second time at this very moment.  This is not unusual—not in America.  We have already had two revolutions.  You may recall the American Revolution against Great Britain and the second—the War for Southern Independence, often erroneously referred to as the American Civil War, or the War Between the States.There’s another way to look at it, as well.  One can grudgingly admit that the Greeks, of 2300 years ago, were smarter than modern Americans.  In my estimation—you’d be right.  So, I tend to go with the latter explanation.

Tensions are running high all across the country as citizens are rushing to arm themselves with the closest thing resembling combat weaponry they can possibly find. Ammunition of all calibers is disappearing from the shelves of gun shops and back orders at the manufacturing plants are piled high.

Look.  Nobody really knows how many guns are in the hands of private citizens in America.  Many have multiple weapons.  A few are even registered, but, my guess is—the vast majority are not registered anywhere for exactly the reason Americans feel they are being driven, herded, as it were,  to armed resistance.  Of the weapons known to be in the hands of private civilian Americans there are enough, according to some reports, to arm every man woman andchild in America today—well over three hundred million. Americans are preparing to dig-in.  In other words they are preparing for a fight.  They are preparing for the day when the words run out, as they surely will.  They will then have no other alternative than to turn—as their forefathers have done since the country was founded—to the gun.

That’s a lot of guns, but not nearly as many as there will be in 2013.  Manufacturers are finding it impossible to keep up with demand for their guns.

The old expression:  “Fools rush in”  is as apropos a word, or phrase, as I can conjure to describe the actions of the so-called “gun grabbers” in America in recent days.  Their propagandists and boosters in the press and the Mainstream Media added to the mental light weights already liberally salted throughout the US Congress and White House who are mindlessly fanning the flames of a conflagration that threatens to consume the country in another American war over the rights guaranteed by the US Constitution—including the Bill of Rights.  These are rights sacred to Americans.  These are the rights for which they have been willing to valiantly lay down their lives to protect since the birth of the nation. They are no less ready to put their lives on the line once again.  I do not think our current “masters” fully understand that.

Look.  Those who would disarm America seem oblivious to the buzz saw into which they are mindlessly running.  Their naivete is monumental, off the scale. When describing weapons they want banned, their description of such weapons makes it clear they haven’t the foggiest notion what they are talking about.  It is also clear they are operating from pure emotion with no reason mixed in.  They often describe weapons they want banned.  They don’t seem to know that those weapons have already been banned since the 1930s in America. They use the term “assault weapon” when there is actually no such weapon, only a political term to describe a weapon that is, well,  scary looking.

In their ignorance, they cannot grasp that even if a gun ban were successful, a black market in guns and ammunition will spring up, almost overnight, and will make Prohibition resemble a Sunday school picnic.  Gun owners and those familiar with guns know, already, that guns are fairly simple to make, many with off the shelf, readily available, parts.

The very first firefight between government agents and American private citizens will be the ignition point of an all consuming maelstrom that will inundate the nation and render null and void any chance that America might reconstitute itself into its former imageafterwards.

To the folks on the left, the gun grabbers, if there is any doubt in your minds that Americans will defend their constitutional rights to the death, simply drive across theLincoln Bridge and take a long look at row after row of white grave markers at ArlingtonNational Cemetery.  As you gaze upon that place of honor, remember, we are the sons, grandsons, and great-grand sons of the men lying there.  We are no less inspired than they to defend the constitution against all enemies—domestic and foreign.

For those of you who purportedly serve the public in your position within the Congress, understand that we are taking careful note of your maneuvering to deny us our constitutional rights and we will be working tirelessly to see that your political career is ended when next you stand for election.  That is a promise.

The idiots in the Mainstream Media still do not understand that freedom of the press , freedom of speech, is only viable so long as the right to keep and bear arms is guaranteed by the Second Amendment.  The job of the press is inextricably linked to the armed citizen. If the armed American goes, so does the independent, non-state-controlled press.  Freedom of the press, freedom of speech, will disappear.

It is such a simple thing—when thought through.  But that’s the problem.  They aren’t thinking.  They are reacting out of raw emotion—certainly NOT reason.  It is their handlers, however, who ARE reasoning. They reason, and rightfully so, that they cannot accomplish their agenda as long as the American citizen is armed.  And so the useful idiots of the Mainstream Media are trotted out to happily make fools of themselves in service to the political left, which will grind them into so much dust once their goals are realized.

It is such idiocy as this that brings men to grapple at each other’s throat.

And here we are again, preparing to do battle with each other, brother against brother, over an issue that was settled two and a half centuries ago.

At first glance it appears to be lunacy of the highest order—and yet—here we are on the cusp of violence to defend something the political left, an authoritarian cabal itself,  cannot abide, AT ALL:  personal freedom, individual freedom.

Remember that Aristotle said: “Tyrants preserve themselves by …  by eliminating men of spirit who might lead a revolution, by humbling the people, and making them incapable of decisive action… .”  Could this be why over a dozen of the US’s highest military officers have been hounded from service in recent months? Is it why this financial crises has dragged on and on … to keep us humble and incapable of decisive action?

And now they intend to disarm us.

Look.  There is so much pent-up anger in America today that if this argument over gun control ever gets beyond the talking stage it is reasonable to believe there will be violence on a scale not seen since the 1860’s in this country.

I would ask the political left if they understand that this is only a temporary argument over gun control?  Do they understand it will quickly become an argument over whether or not the country continues to exist as a single fifty state entity or breaks up into separate countries?  I don’t think they do.  Indeed, I don’t think most Americans understand that once this fight begins, in earnest, there will be no turning back and when it is ended—there will be no going back, either.

I don’t want a war in my homeland, either.  But, dear reader, THIS is exactly how they begin.

The Ban On Most Semi-Automatic Weapons May Be Upon Us

Senate to Ban Hundreds of Semiautomatic Rifles, Handguns, Shotguns, Magazines

For anyone who may have thought Senator Feinstein and her colleagues in Congress were bluffing about coming firearms legislation that would restrict the sale, transfer and possession of certain firearms, think again.

A summary of the proposed legislation has been made available, and it’s a whopper.

Among outright banning 120 ‘assault’ related firearms (such as AR-15′s and AK-47′s), the bill will also target any weapon that utilizes a “detachable magazine,” as well as any magazine with a capacity of over ten rounds, which would include semi-automatic handguns and shotguns.

Moreover, if you already own a firearm or modification that ends up on the ban list, you will be required under Federal law to register that gun, complete with a background check, fingerprinting and local law enforcement verification.

Those who have recently purchased firearms that would fall under the ban may soon find Federal agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) at their door looking to confiscate ‘illegal’ weapons or engage in home searches for illegal accessories like ‘high capacity’ magazines (over 10 rounds), flash suppressors, pistol grips, and bullet buttons (a feature designed to circumvent ‘fixed’ magazine laws in states like California).

The following is a summary of the proposed Assault Weapons Legislation:

Bans the sale, transfer, importation, or manufacturing of:

• 120 specifically-named firearms
• Certain other semiautomatic rifles, handguns, shotguns that can accept a detachable magazine and have one military characteristic
• Semiautomatic rifles and handguns with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds

Strengthens the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban and various state bans by:

• Moving from a 2-characteristic test to a 1-characteristic test
• Eliminating the easy-to-remove bayonet mounts and flash suppressors from the characteristics test
• Banning firearms with “thumbhole stocks” and “bullet buttons” to address attempts to “work around” prior bans

• Bans large-capacity ammunition feeding devices capable of accepting more than 10 rounds.

Protects legitimate hunters and the rights of existing gun owners by:

• Grandfathering weapons legally possessed on the date of enactment
• Exempting over 900 specifically-named weapons used for hunting or sporting purposes and
• Exempting antique, manually-operated, and permanently disabled weapons

Requires that grandfathered weapons be registered under the National Firearms Act, to include:

• Background check of owner and any transferee;
• Type and serial number of the firearm;
• Positive identification, including photograph and fingerprint;
• Certification from local law enforcement of identity and that possession would not violate State or local law; and
• Dedicated funding for ATF to implement registration

What Is an Assault Rifle? (You’ve probably been lied to):

Ammunition, namely the purchase of bulk ammunition, has not been mentioned in the legislation summary. However, previous reports indicate that the purchase of large amounts of ammunition through the internet and directly from dealers may also be in Congress’ sights.

Are Americans prepared to give up their guns?

In Los Angeles, where millions of residents depend on government support to feed their families and receive healthcare, hundreds of cars lined up for hours for a local buy-back program that promised to exchange guns for $100 grocery gift cards.

Thousands of handguns, rifles, and antique firearms were turned in – for food.

The lock-down is coming and it’s going to start when Congress reconvenes on January 3, 2013.

Many Americans, who have no concept of why the Second Amendment exists in the first place, will accept it without protest.

Fight the militants, or die

[The writer below makes a brave statement, for someone speaking-out from Pakistani soil.  It is tragic that it has fallen to the ordinary Pakistani people to defend their homes and their country from the scourge of TTP terrorism, since the State refuses to defend the people from their Frankenstein creation.  It doesn’t seem to matter much what the TTP does, or even who it murders, not even Frontier Troops.  The State refuses to retake Pakistan’s Tribal Region from them, so it is logical to state that the day is soon coming when entire Pakistani neighborhoods will rise-up with their own defensive weapons and take care of the Taliban menace on their own.  It will be no problem identifying most of these thugs, since they are probably well-known to the locals.]

The killing of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister Bashir Bilour is another wake-up call for the people and an eye-opener for political leaders and policymakers to look into the eyes of the scourge confronting Pakistan.From Benazir Bhutto to Bashir Bilour, each terror attack drew widespread condemnations besides generating heated debates on media, but the net result always proved a naught because soon enough, public outrage dissipated and policymakers, both civvies and khakis, returned to their old jobs. The assassination of Bashir Bilour is fresh and, of course, will take a few more days to vanish from public memory.

Prior to this tragic event, the last one that brought about universal outrage was the attack on Malala Yousufzai on October 10, which was claimed by the Taliban. With the exception of a few Taliban apologists, almost all political parties expressed shock over the dastardly act and it also drew a few words of condemnation from Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani. The attempt to kill the 15-year-old schoolgirl, the level of public anger and the reaction from the country’s powerful army were all taken as pointers to across-the-board action against the militants. However, expectations soon died down amidst excuses from political and military leadership alike and Malala’s name became restricted to being discussed in seminars and conferences.

She is a closed chapter because since the attack on her, the emboldened Taliban staged even more audacious acts of terror, including a complex one on the Peshawar airport and then topped that off with the killing of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s senior minister.

The persistent inaction on the part of the elected government, political leadership and security agencies, for whatever reason, is highly demoralising and demotivating for society because it tells ordinary people that the political and military leadership is succumbing to the pressure being put by the militants.

It is people like Bashir Bilour, Benazir Bhutto, Malala Yousufzai, Salmaan Taseer and Shahbaz Bhatti who challenge the extremist ideology and all — except Malala — were knocked out one by one, while all the pillars of the state silently stood by and did nothing.

Imagine how a 15-year-old schoolgirl could have harmed armed-to-the-teeth militants. She was attacked because she was emerging as a symbol of courage for the rest of society and was openly challenging the Taliban mindset based on utter disregard for human rights and discriminatory treatment of women. The same was the case with Bashir Bilour who had made it a habit to reach the spot of each terrorist attack and openly challenge and condemn the perpetrators by calling them ‘cowards’, which he did to boost public morale.

If Bashir Bilour wished, he could have buried his head in the sand like his fellow politicians and saved his skin — and most probably his life as well. However, he chose to face the threat head on for the sake of the coming generations and finally sacrificed his life.

After surviving two botched attempts on his life, Bashir Bilour’s well-wishers used to advise him to be careful. And he would reply: “Da Gor Shpa Pa Kor Na Shee Ratle (The night destined to be in the grave can’t be the one spent at home)”. His views about the Taliban violence were very clear. “This is our war. We need to own it.” And whenever asked about talks with the militants, he never said ‘no’ — but argued that talks would be held only when the other side agrees to accept the Constitution.

For all those who claim to be defenders of the country’s sovereignty and the Constitution but hesitate to issue even a few words of condemnation against those brutally killing innocent citizens, Bilour’s sacrifice must become a wake-up call. As rightly mentioned by ANP President Asfandyar Wali Khan during his December 25 press briefing, this is the war for Pakistan’s very existence and this is no time for politicking. The options are clear for the security establishment and political leadership: face the threat head on or continue to close eyes and wait till no one is left to speak at all.
